SHIA BELIEFS

OKAY SO ALIJAN whatever username has banned me from his post on shia Islam. Maybe because I was helping the correct shia views seen??? Well anyways, here are some speeches by Shia scholars or maualanas.. The first few are of Syed Mustafa Qazwini, a famous shia maulvi originally from Iraq,Karbala. His father and two brothers are also famous maulvis:

Let me know of you still think Shias are kafirs! Think before you speak because a TRUE Muslim cannot judge another person and say whether they follow Islam correctly or not. Shias pray, fast, give zakat, go on Hajj, etc etc… And they do not pray to Imam Ali or think him as high as God..my poor shia friend went to a sunni owned video store and the owner knew she was shia and told her she must not have fasted becuase she was shia. She was offended by this and said ofcourse she did. He joked with her she must be secretly sunni. How can one say this to another fellow Muslim??

No one says that Shias are Kaafir.

Even within same school of thought, Ulema say that almost all the Muslims in their life unintentionally say/do something that could nullify their faith so its better for muslims to recite Shahaada, once a year at least .. and if possible, re-do the nikah (with the same spouse) cause if the faith was nullified, they are technically no longer married..

When I heard that above mentioned suggestion, I recited shahaada again and asked my wife to do that. That does not mean that I was telling my wife that she was Kaafir (naoozo billah).

I know that to some, it sounds like extreme but better safe than sorry ..

based on that, if/when Ulema of different school of thought point out the kufr, they are not saying that the other person is kaafir, they are basically saying that the act is kufr. To me, there is a difference.

And al-Khallaal said: ‘Abdul-Malik Ibn ‘Abdul-Hameed informed me saying: I heard Aba ‘Abdullaah say: “Whosoever reviles the (Companions (radiyallaahu ‘anhum), then I fear disbelief for him like the Rawaafid.” Then he said,* “Whosoever reviles the (Companions of the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallarn), then we do not believe he is safe from having rejected the Religion.”* [Refer to as-Sunnah (2/557-558) of al-Khaliaal.]
780 -وأخبرني عبدالملك بن عبدالحميد قال سمعت أبا عبدالله قال من شتم أخاف عليه الكفر مثل الروافض** ثم قال من شتم أصحاب النبي لا نأمن أن يكون قد مرق عن الدين**

And Imaam Ahmad also said, “They are those who free themselves from the (Companions of Muhammad (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and they curse them and belittle them. They declare the Imaams disbelievers, except four: ‘Alee, ‘Ammaar, al-Miqdaad and Salmaan. And the Raafidah do not have anything to do with Islaam.” [Refer to Usoolus-Sunnah (p. 82) of Ahmad Ibn Hanbal.]

And he said: ‘Abdullaah Ibn Ahmad Ibn Hanbal informed me saying: I asked my father about a man who reviled a man from amongst the Companions of the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). So he said, “I do not hold him to be upon Islaam.” [Refer to as-Sunnah (2/558) of al-Khallaal.]
782 -أخبرنا عبدالله بن أحمد بن حنبل قال سألت أبي عن رجل شتم رجلا من أصحاب النبي فقال ما أراه على الإسلام

Ahmad Ibn Yoonus (d.134H):
Ahmad Ibn Yoonus said, “If a Jew were to sacrifice a lamb and a Raafidee were to sacrifice, I would surely eat the sacrifice of the Jew. And I would not eat the sacrifice of the Raafidee because he is an apostate from Islaam.” [Refer to as-Saarimul-Maslool (p. 570)]

**و قال ****أحمد بن يونس****:  ****لو أن يهوديا ذبح شاة و ذبح رافضي لأكلت ذبيحة اليهودي و لم آكل ذبيحة الرافضي لأنه مرتد عن الإسلام ****]**

Ibn Qutaybah ad-Deenawree (d.276H):
Ibn Qutaybah said, “Because the extremism of the Raafidah in love for ‘Alee (radiyallaaliu ‘anhu) resembles the precedence that he and the (Companions would give to the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa saliam) and their claims of him sharing in Prophethood along with the Prophet and their ascribing knowledge of the Unseen to their imams and these statements and secret affairs are combined with lying and disbelief through excessive ignorance and stupidity.” [Refer to al-Ikhtilaaf fil-Lafdh war-Radd 'alal-Jahmiyyah wal-Mushabbihah (p. 47) of Ibn Qutaybah]

Abul-Mudhaffar as-Sam’aanee (d.489H):
Imaam Abul-Mudhaffar as-Sam’aanee - rahimullaah - said, “The Ummah has a consensus (ijmaa’) on the takfeer of the Imaamiyyah, because they believe the Companions are misguided, they reject their consensus and they attribute to them that which does not befit them.” [Refer to al-Ansaab (6/341) of as-Sam'aanee]

Aboo Haamid Muhammad al-Maqdisee (d.744H):
He said after speaking about the sects and the belief’s of the Raafidah, “It is not hidden from anyone who possesses insight and understanding from amongst the Muslims that most of what we have discussed previously from the topic of the beliefs of this group, the Raafidah, along with their various groupings, is clear disbelief and stubborn rejection along with disgraceful ignorance. The careful one will not hesitate in takfeer of them and judging them to have become apostates from the Religion of Islaam.” [Refer to ar-Risaalah fir-Radd 'alar-Raafidah (p. 200) of al-Maqdisee]

Imam Shafi on Shias

  1. Al-Harawee relates from Yoosuf Ibn Yahyaa al-Buwaytee who said, ‘I asked ash-Shaafi’ee, ‘Can I pray behind a Raafidee?’ He said, ‘Do not pray behind the Raafidee, nor the Qadaree, nor the Murjiyee’. I said, Describe them to me.’ He said, The one who says that eemaan is statement (only), then he is Murjiyee. And whosoever says that Aboo Bakr and ‘Umar are not the two imaams, then he is a Raafidee. And whosoever places the Will for himself, then he is Qadaree.”

Dhammul-Kalaam (qaaf/215) and it was mentioned by adh-Dhahabee in as-Siyar (10/31).
سمعت البويطي يقول: سألت الشافعي: أصلي خلف الرافضي ؟ قال: لا تصل خلف الرافضي، ولا القدري، ولا المرجئ.
قلت: صفهم لنا.
قال: من قال: الايمان قول، فهو مرجئ، ومن قال: إن أبا بكر وعمر ليسا بإمامين، فهو رافضي، ومن جعل المشيئة إلى نفسه، فهو قدري

و كذلك قال عبد الله بن إدريس من أعيان أئمة الكوفة : ليس لرافضي شفعة إلا لمسلم
قال أحمد في رواية أبي طالب في الرجل يشتم عثمان **: *هذا زندقة و قال في رواية المروزي *: *من شتم أبا بكر و عمر و عائشة ما أراه على الإسلام *]**

Here is the one from mirqat of mulla ali qari:
الصحيح المختار الذي قاله الأكثرون أن الخوارج كسائر أهل البدع لا تكفر قلت وهذا في غير حق الرافضة الخارجة في **
*زماننا فإنهم يعتقدون كفر أكثر الصحابة فضلا عن سائر *
أهل السنة**** والجماعة فهم كفرة بالإجماع بلا نزاع**

الصواعق المحرقة
ومن هذه الآية أخذ الإمام مالك في رواية عنه بكفر الروافض الذين يبغضون الصحابة قال لأن الصحابة يغيظونهم ومن غاظه الصحابة فهو كافر
وهو مأخذ حسن يشهد له ظاهر الآية ومن ثم وافقه الشافعي رضي الله تعالى عنهما في قوله بكفرهم ووافقه أيضا جماعه من الأئمة

And from this verse , Imaam Maalik rahimahullah,as reported from him, Had deducted the verdict of KUFr against those whoshow hatred to the Sahaabah radhiyaallahu anhum. He further states because the Sahaabah causes them anger and every individual who is angered by the Sahaabah is a KAAFir. This extraction is excellent as the verse in itself bears testimony to it. Therefore Imaam shafiee rahimahullaah has Agreed with Him (imam maalik) on the verdict of declaring them Kaafir and a large group of the scholars too.
الصارم المسلول

Ahmad bin younas rahimahullah mentions “ If a jews slaughters and a Raafidhi slaughters a sheep, I will eat the slaughtered animal of the Jew and not that of the raafidhi – Because He is an Apostate from Islam (I.e. The raafidhi) Similarily, Abu Bakr bin Hani rahimahullaah has mentioned, “ the Slaughtered animal of the qadiriyyah and the rawaafidh are not eaten as the slaughtered animal of any Murtad (apostate) with the fact that the slaughtered animal of the people of the book because they take the position of an apostate whereas the People of the book who live in islamic lands remain practising on their religions and they pay jizya .

Abu Bakr alwarwazi rahimahullaah mentions “ I asked abu abdullaah concerning the individual that verbally abuses Abu Bakr, Umar andf A’isha Radhiyallahu anhum.” He replied “ I do not regard them to be muslim.” He further says “ I have heard Maalik rahimahullah say, “ whoever Verbally abuses the Sahaabah of Rasulullaah saaws he has no share in islam.” P493 volume 3

Harb mentions that muhammed bin abdur rahman alju3fi narrates that husain bin ali narrates from hani bin ayyoub that he asked muharib bin disthar concerning backbiting the raafidha . He mentioned (sarcasically) “they are a very truthful nation.” Husain mentions that it seems that he saw no problem with backbiting the rawaafidh

To much excited over the opinion of Imam Ahmed about Shias? Then by the same token I would expect you to accept Ahmed's opinion on other people too, for example:

*Ahmad bin al-Hassan al-Tirmidhi said: ‘I heard Ahmad bin Hanbal saying: ‘Abu Hanifa used to tell lies’. *
Tarikh Baghdad, Volume 15 page 579

In Tarikh Baghdad, Volume 15 page 569 we read another Sahih narration:

Ahmad ibn Hanbal said: ‘According to me the opinion of Abu Hanifa is equal to the faeces of goats’

Modern day Sunni scholar Hassan al-Saqqaf records in his book Al-Salafya al-Wahabia, page 73:

[RIGHT]فالحنابلة يرون أن الإمام أبو حنيفة من أئمة الضلال!.[/RIGHT]

“The Hanbalis believe that Abu Hanifa was an Imam of error”

Imam Dhahabi in his book Tazkirat al-Hufaz, Volume 3 page1187 and Siyar alam un-Nubla, Volume 18 page 508 records under the biography of Shaykh ul Islam Abu Ismaeel Abdullah Ansari that once he was travelling from Hirat to Basra meanwhile some people accosted him and asked as to which sect he belonged to, he replied that he was a Hanbali but a man caught him and brought to Shaykh Abu Hatim al-Hanbali who was having a huge gathering at that time. When that man informed Shaykh Abu Hatim Hanbali about the claim of Shaykh Abu Ismaeel, Abu Hatim asked the man to realease him and then the unequivocal statement given by Shaykh Abu Hatim Hanbali was as follows:

"Whoever is not a Hanbali, verily he is not a Muslim"

Shafiyee said: ‘I don’t know anyone who wrote a book proving his errors except Abu Hanifa’

In another Sahih tradition that we read in Tarikh Baghdad, Volume 15 page 549:

[RIGHT]وقال الشافعي شر عليهم من أبي حنيفة[/RIGHT]

Shafiyee said: ‘No one was born in Islam more evil than Abu Hanifa’

Now let us read the belief of Shafiyee scholar Muhammad bin Muhammad Abu Mansur al-Faqih al-Barawi al-Tusi (d. 576 H) in Shazarat al-Dahab, Volume 4 page 271:

It has been reported that al-Barawi said: 'If I was the authority I would take Jaziya from the Hanbalis'

Jaziya is a tax that is imposed on non-Muslims.

A Hanafi fatwa on Shias? Okay, then lets see Hanafi fatwas on their fellow Sunni brothers too:

"It is not allowed for a Hanafi man to marry his daughter to a Shafiyee man but it is allowed [for a Hanafi man] to marry a Shafiyee woman"
Baraziyah Bar Hashiyah al-Fatawa al-Hindyah, Volume 4 page 112, printed in Quetta Pakistan

It means that the way Muslims are barred from marrying a male amongst the AhlulKitab Christans and Jews but can marry with their women, similarly the Sunnis belonging to Shafiyee sect falls in the same category in the eyes of Hanafis. This is what Imam Nasiruddin Albaani al-Salafi commented as recorded by Ahmad al-Zahrani in his book Al-Talyqat al-Athira fi Sharh al-Tahawia, page 35:

"They declared that it is not allowed for a Hanafi to marry with Shafiyee woman! While some of them showed leniency and claimed that it is lawful but not the other way around. (i.e. not allowed for Shaffiyee man to marry a Hanafi woman). And they justify that by giving her (Shaffiyee woman) the status of Ahlul kitab! I personally know a Shaffiyee Sheikh who asked a Hanafi Sheikh's daughter for marriage but he (the Hanafi Sheikh) refused and said: 'If you are not a Shafiyee…!'"

We read in Shazarat al-Dahab, Volume 6 page 309:

"Muhibuddeen Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Abi Bakr al-Dumraqi al-Hindi al-Hanafi [d.789 H], he migrated to Makka and heard (hadith) from al-Ez bin Jama'a, he is was a skillful scholar and used to perform umra and recite the whole Quran every day and used to record the knowledge, Ibn Hajar said: 'But he was so intolerant and used to abuse al-Shafiyee'."

Qadhi Muhammad bin Musa al-Hanafi (d. 506 H) who while writing on the Shafiyee school of thought said:

"If I was in power I would order the Shafiyees to pay Jaziya".

Jaziya is a tax that is imposed on non-Muslims, so this great Hanafi jurist believed that Imam Shafiyee and his followers were kaffir.

What Do Scholars of Ahl us-Sunnah in the Past and Present say about Shia (Rafidah)? : **

1) **Imam Ash-Shafi'i
: On one occasion Imam Shafi'i said concerning the Shia,
"I have not seen among the heretics a people more famous for falsehood than the Raafidi* Shia." and on another occasion he said; "Narrate knowledge from everyone you meet except for the raafidi* Shia, because they invent ahadith and adopt them as part of their religion." (Minhaj as-Sunnah an-Nabawiyyah) *
(Some shia at the time of the Alid Imam Zayd ibn 'Ali demanded that he make a declaration of innocence (tabarra) from whoever disagreed with 'Ali's right to be Imam. When Zayd refused, they rejected him, and became known as the "raafida" or rejectors. Those who followed Imam Zayd became known as Zaydis, and have very little difference from mainstream Islam. The Raafidi evolved into the the various Imami shia sects, the largest of which is the Ithna 'Ashari.)

2) Imam Abu Hanifah: It is reported that often Imam Abu Hanifah used to repeat the following statement about the raafidi Shia; "Whoever doubts whether they are disbelievers has himself committed disbelief."
3) Imam Malik: Once when asked about the raafidi Shia, Imam Malik said; "Do not speak to them or narrate from them, for surely they are liars." During one of Imam Malik's classes, it was mentioned that the raafidi Shia curse the sahaba. Imam Malik recited the verse, "Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah and those with him are harsh with the disbelievers and gentle among themselves. So that the disbelievers may become enraged with them." (48:29) He then said, "Whoever becomes enraged when the sahaba are mentioned is the one about whom the verse speaks." (Tafseer al-Qurtubi)
4) Abu Zur'ah ar-Razi: He said of the raafidi Shia doctrine of cursing the sahaba, "If you see someone degrade any of the companions of the ProphetSAWS know that he is a disbeliever. Because the ProphetSAWS was real, what he brought was the truth and all of it was conveyed to us by way of the sahaba. What those disbelievers wish to do is cast doubt on the reliability of our narrators in order to invalidate the Qur'an and Sunnah. Thus the disbelievers are the ones most deserving of defamation."
5) Ibn Hazm al-Andalusi: During the period of Muslim rule in Spain, Imam Abu Muhammad ibn Hazm would often debate with the Catholic priests about their religious texts. He brought before them evidence of textual distortions in the Bible and the loss of the original manuscripts. When they replied by pointing out the Shia claims that the Qur'an has been distorted and altered, Ibn Hazm informed them that Shia claims were not valid evidence because the shia were not themselves muslims.

6) Imam Al-Alusi: He declared the raafidi Shia disbelievers because of their defamation of the sahaba. His position was based on the rulings of Imam Malik and other scholars. In response to their claim to be followers of the Ahl al-Bayt (the Prophet'sSAWS family) Al-Alusi said, "No, they are really followers of the devils and the Ahl al-Bayt are innocent of them."
7) Muhammad Rasheed Rida: This scholar was among those who worked sincerely for rapproachment between the shia and the sunni, and they in turn pretended moderation for his benefit. However, in the midst of his efforts, they caught him by surprise by presenting him with a number of their books which slander Islam. He then replied in a paper called As-Sunnah wa Ash-Shia in which he exposed their false doctrines and idolatrous practices.

"I have not seen among the heretics a people more famous for falsehood than the Raafidi* Shia." and on another occasion he said; "Narrate knowledge from everyone you meet except for the raafidi* Shia, because they invent ahadith and adopt them as part of their religion." 2) Imam Abu Hanifah: It is reported that often Imam Abu Hanifah used to repeat the following statement about the raafidi Shia; "Whoever doubts whether they are disbelievers has himself committed disbelief."
3) Imam Malik: Once when asked about the raafidi Shia, Imam Malik said; "Do not speak to them or narrate from them, for surely they are liars." During one of Imam Malik's classes, it was mentioned that the raafidi Shia curse the sahaba. Imam Malik recited the verse, "Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah and those with him are harsh with the disbelievers and gentle among themselves. So that the disbelievers may become enraged with them." (48:29) He then said, "Whoever becomes enraged when the sahaba are mentioned is the one about whom the verse speaks." (Tafseer al-Qurtubi)
4) Abu Zur'ah ar-Razi: He said of the raafidi Shia doctrine of cursing the sahaba, "If you see someone degrade any of the companions of the ProphetSAWS know that he is a disbeliever. Because the ProphetSAWS was real, what he brought was the truth and all of it was conveyed to us by way of the sahaba. What those disbelievers wish to do is cast doubt on the reliability of our narrators in order to invalidate the Qur'an and Sunnah. Thus the disbelievers are the ones most deserving of defamation."
5) Ibn Hazm al-Andalusi: During the period of Muslim rule in Spain, Imam Abu Muhammad ibn Hazm would often debate with the Catholic priests about their religious texts. He brought before them evidence of textual distortions in the Bible and the loss of the original manuscripts. When they replied by pointing out the Shia claims that the Qur'an has been distorted and altered, Ibn Hazm informed them that Shia claims were not valid evidence because the shia were not themselves muslims.

6) Imam Al-Alusi: He declared the raafidi Shia disbelievers because of their defamation of the sahaba. His position was based on the rulings of Imam Malik and other scholars. In response to their claim to be followers of the Ahl al-Bayt (the Prophet'sSAWS family) Al-Alusi said, "No, they are really followers of the devils and the Ahl al-Bayt are innocent of them."
7) Muhammad Rasheed Rida: This scholar was among those who worked sincerely for rapproachment between the shia and the sunni, and they in turn pretended moderation for his benefit. However, in the midst of his efforts, they caught him by surprise by presenting him with a number of their books which slander Islam. He then replied in a paper called As-Sunnah wa Ash-Shia in which he exposed their false doctrines and idolatrous practices.

He was himself a Nasibi scholar, then you can hardly expect him to say something good about the followers of Ali bin Abi Talib [as]. Like his Banu Ummayya’s Nasibi Khalifas, Ibn Hazm toed the same anti Ali line and to prove this we quote Dhahabi who stated in Siyar alam al-Nubala, Volume 18 page 201:

“What increased his status was his inclination towards the rulers of Bani Ummaya, the past and the present of them and his belief of the correctness of their Imamate, till he was attributed to Nasb”

We read in Takmilat al-Sayf al-Saqil by Imam Muhammad Zahid bin Hassan al-Kawthari al-Hanafi (d. 1371 H), page 177:

**“The Syrian (scholars) issued a statement about ibn Taimiyah, and al-Burhan ibn al-Ferkah wrote on it forty lines wherein he declared that he (ibn Taimiyah) is a kafir, and al-Shehab bin Jabhal agreed with him” **
