we bought a nondesigner for my husband and it was 40k so I dunno i think designer or no designer inflaction rules in pakistan my own valeema dress was 60k
In Karachi, there are LOTS AND LOTS of men’s stores that sell gorgeous sherwanis. You don’t need to go to Amir Adnan or Deepak Perwani because they are really pricey. Try Junaid Jamshed or Aijazz, their stuff is very reasonably priced. Go to Tariq Road, alot of nice stores there as well. Within 15,000 you should be able to get a nice one.
I got my husband's wedding sherwani in Dec 2008. The picture I had with me was from Omar and Rabia's wedding, especially because I really liked the fitting; you may notice that it has a seam in the back. Most sherwani's these days are not fitted at all. It took me a while to find a shop that knew what I was talking about, most tried to tell me there was no such thing as darts or seams for fitting. I had a little more work done on my hubby's in the end and it matched my lehnga.
It cost about £120. My brothers sherwani's made in the same way but with less work were about £70 each.
This is what I took:
Shoulders
Chest
Waist
Crossback
Underarm Circumference
Upper arm circumference (bicep)
Neck Circumference
Arm Length
Length from shoulder to chest.
Length from shoulder to waist
Length from shoulder to knee (kurta length)
Length from Waist to floor (shalwar length)
do you remember what store you went to? my hubby wants the omar and rabia sherwani too for himself and its perfect for a bro-in-law sherwani too methinks.
also, what kind of shalwar/pant is omar wearing because its got less gheyr and is more straight and i love that look. did you get something similar for your hubby?
the shop was in lahore so i'm not sure it would be much use to you. i just thought i'd tell you what i had made and the cost so you know that you can get a nice sherwani for a lot less than 50k, lol.
i interpreted it as regular trousers (you can tell in the pics where he's sitting), i also think he's not wearing a kurta below. so i had everything made; black trousers, off white kurta for underneath and an off-white shalwar (as my lengha was off-white), so he could go with either look.
Omar's suit is perfect as it is for a bro-in-law sherwani though.
SGC I think right off on Tariq Road, dont really remember, there are like a whole couple of rows of streets just full of men's clothing shops, most of them called Kurta this or Kurta that. If you ask any guy in KHI Im sure he will know for sure where exactly it is. I found some really nice stuff there and its convenient because all the shops are lined up right next to each other so if you are picky and need to see a million things before deciding, its all right there. Junaid Jamshed's boutique is there as well. His prices are very decent compared to other designer shops. I like the design you picked, its exactly as a sherwani should be -simple, elegant and classy. Just hate some of gawdy, tacky stuff some people choose, all these horrible clothes with bold, flashy kaam on them! barf
SGC- If you are getting it done in Karachi then Royal Silk Palace in Saddar is the place to go. Their price range varies but they are spot on with their fitting.
Accurate sherwani measurements are key for the right fitting. When my sister was getting married ... My BIL went to these tailors called Delhi Tailors in Toronto....and they wrote down the exact measurements...my mom then took them to Karachi and got the sherwani made...and it was perfect!
^it depends how it is made too. there are different cuts and styles. some are more fitted whereas others only take into account shoulders, chest and arm length.
