Sherry Rehmanabandons opposition to blasphemy law

Re: Sherry Rehmanabandons opposition to blasphemy law

So? I should give PPP credit for supporting something I dont believe in?

Re: Sherry Rehmanabandons opposition to blasphemy law

Lets remember that you are the one who replied to me and said oh ppp are also courtesans of the right wing. If you dont think this behaviour or stance is wrong in the first place and the blasphemy kay should be what it is you dont need to convince me that ppp are just as bad.

Here we go…

lol @ Musharraf and his unique brand of ‘jiyalays’…sab sey pehley Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf, Pervez Musharraf…hahahaa, issey kehtey hein awaam kee aankhon mein dhool jhokna!!

My personal opinion…He is not coming back to Pakistan any time soon. He made just too many bitter enemies for himself during his 8-year misrule

Musharraf on Salman Taseer’s assassination and the blasphemy law

Re: Sherry Rehmanabandons opposition to blasphemy law

Just two people, a bunch of nobodies in the PPP (regardless of their grand titles) said they oppose it does not mean PPP is against the blasphemy law. Had they been against it, they would have proposed to have it out. Actually after Taseer's death, most oft hem have been vocal about NOT changing it. One of the most influential ppl in the party admitted that he'd shoot a person who indulges in Blasphemy, and that guy is the number one person in charge of the country's interior affairs. Most of the others have gone on TV and supported it. Its obvious, the PPP supports the blasphemy law. They ditched sherry rahman too.

PPP was actually the one that brought about alot of religious laws in the past, that somehow ppl think were Zia's works.

Re: Sherry Rehmanabandons opposition to blasphemy law

He was a good friend of Taseer. They used to drink together occasionally, and it was this loyalty that won him governorship when Musharraf was still the president.

Long live the APML - All Perez Musharraf Pardesi Mirasi LEague!

Re: Sherry Rehmanabandons opposition to blasphemy law

Against is too strong a word. However, in 1994, BB tried to ammend the law, but had to backtrack.

Although the proposed ammendments were rational, the problem is the PPP is construed as wanting the eventual repeal of the laws.

Changing the laws so that they could not be abused has been on the PPP agenda for as while. Mushy also wanted to do the same, but no luck.

Though I am for the laws, the fact is if they are not coupled with a harsh punishment for those who give false witness, then they are incomplete.

Also, we must understand that the PPP is a populist party...so with sentiments running so high on this particular issue, we can expect backtracking and damage control kind of rehtoric.

Re: Sherry Rehmanabandons opposition to blasphemy law

Lets count the number that you're basing the 'most' who are vocal about not changing it. I bet it doesnt go much further beyond Rehman Malik, Babar Awan and that guy with the fake degree who had to resign and got reelected. You see behind your bluster theres usually very little facts, and a complete inability to look at issues beyond your chosen framework of good and evil. Currently the right wing is good, PPP is evil and thats it.

When you were cornered with the fact that even what little PPP has done as an aggregate, they remain the best amongst everyone else, they remain the only ones with three high ranking members speaking on the issue, and most importantly, they remain the only ones not dancing before Mullas at rallies you said why should I give credit for something I dont support. DONT. You're the one trying to tell me PPP are just as bad, then you say well I dont think that way. Then you go back to PPP are just as bad. Make up your mind about what you want to say, make a coherent point and stop this brownian motion of dialogue.

Weak cowardly govt. Just another example in the long history of the govt taking cover under threats hurled from the right.
