Re: Shehr e Zaat by HUM TV

I agree that this drama is not about Salman, Falak, Tabinda. It doesn't matter who Salman chose after he left Falak or why Tabinda isn't the opposite of Falak. The point is that sometimes we are so occupied in our own world, we forget what basic things our religion teaches. People who are criticizing on why Tabinda is also greedy and not everything Falak wasn't, simply don't get this drama. Its Falak's story alone, no comparision with Tabinda there. All what she goes through to find true meaning of faith .. her believe in religion... how all those meanlingless nani's lectures are now meaninful to her.
All that being said, I wish I liked Mahira's acting for me to enjoy this drama. I get the story and the point being made but sadly I can't stand Mahira.

Re: Shehr e Zaat by HUM TV

How pathetic is Salman!! How could he treat Falak the way he did infront of his new wife knowing how much Falak loved him... Literally worshipped him... It just made me teary :(

oh and I love Tabinda's acting

Re: Shehr e Zaat by HUM TV

Why is Umera Ahmed so confused ? she can't decide why falak's marriage failed. One minute it's because falak tried to please her husband too much instead of pleasing God. The other minute it's because she DIDN'T pay attention to her husband/ house and was busy shopping etc. The drama is about to end, she needs to stop with the conflicting messages!

Re: Shehr e Zaat by HUM TV

you know what, i think the review for the latest episode should answer that question for you! its the link for the blog i had inboxed you before! check it out! :)

Re: Shehr e Zaat by HUM TV

after watching yesterday's episode.....

moral of the story:

paisa-zaya kernay wali auratoun ka ghar zayada daer tak qaaem nahi rehta hai, bara e mehrbaani upni super"stupid"-class seheliyoun ki baatoun mein aana chor daen :D

Re: Shehr e Zaat by HUM TV

does anyone know what 'zarv' means? when falak says the bigger our house is, the more zarv we have?

Re: Shehr e Zaat by HUM TV

^^ Not truly sure but I think its wanting and asking for more than your needs. Shaadiyon main 20-25 dishes ki bajaey 4-5 hoon to bhi logon ka pait bhar jata hai. Instead of making 100 expensive clothes we could be happy with 5 nice ones. That’s what Zarv is.

I am liking the drama a lot now.. I think about what I do too now :teary1:

Re: Shehr e Zaat by HUM TV

The word is Zarf which means capability. Falak says the bigger the house the smaller the capability to do something good for another person.

Re: Shehr e Zaat by HUM TV

thats deep, thank you both :)

Re: Shehr e Zaat by HUM TV

I dont know about all, but i didnt like the ending

Re: Shehr e Zaat by HUM TV

very good drama, some great dialogues. v good acting by all of them specially mahira, meekal and nadia. though nadia's character should have been elaborated a bit (she was excellent though). i liked the ending too other wise it would have been like 'yahan pyar nahi hai'

mahira in the beginning did not seem appropriate for this role since she has more of a polite personality...but she gave a v good performance. meekal was brilliant as well.

i also liked how they did not show falak changed in to a new person (5 times praying, no hi fi standard of life etc etc) all of a sudden. they showed her changing gradually by adopting basics of deen which looked real.

and lol they chose samina to play the mother of hina bayat. they both look same age.

v good direction by sarmad....these are the stories he should pick and direct.

overall an entertainment.

ps. this drama should get an award for 'whats wrong with you' and 'aur waise bhi'. :)

Re: Shehr e Zaat by HUM TV

falak: mujh se baat karte hue tumhe neend arahi hai
salman: haan neend tou sooli pe bhi aajati hai......

LOL

Re: Shehr e Zaat by HUM TV

If anyone is interested Mahirah Khan *(*Falak) and **Hina Khawaja Bayat (mehru AKA Falaks mom) share their experience in Shehrezaat. Its gives a great insight to all the characters.

Re: Shehr e Zaat by HUM TV

^ excellent read. thanks.

is anyone watching the aftershow ?

Shehr e Zaat by HUM TV

I stopped watching the drama and then tuned in for the last few episodes. I likes Mahiraa acting after separation. Some awesome dialogues....however I absolutely hated the ending. It was one of the worst in any of Umeras plays.

Re: Shehr e Zaat by HUM TV

lol...just read the status on FB "I, as a director, disown Shehr e Zaat officially - Sarmad Khoosat."

and in the comments same nick says "the writer did all .... me as director just followed the script"

I am fan of Umera's writing but I hope she didnt do any injustice. lets see what fiasco it is about as entire team is coming tonight. anyho humtv is putting a lot to make Zindagi Gulzar hai a hit like humsafar.

Re: Shehr e Zaat by HUM TV

Just got few glimpses of the show. Why they were claiming that they did something extraordinary which changed people's lives. It was a little OTT.

Re: Shehr e Zaat by HUM TV

I know. What's interesting is the part where Abdullah Kadwani mentioned Umera expressing her wish to come up with something Ashfaque Ahmadish in nature. Ironically enough the whole while watching this drama I was sure that people praising this drama to the skies and having hit them with something that might not have occured to them otherwise have probably not been exposed to masterpieces like Tota Kahani and Manchale ke sauda by the late and great Ashfaque Ahmad dealing with a similar awakening-of-self theme and the heartbreaks of the road less taken. Only Ashfaque Ahmad dealt with them more knowledgably, convincingly and generally refrained from generalizations of the Western=evil and Eastern=Pure (or at least built a case for why it might be so) kind which is precisely where this drama ceases to have any appeal for me. Please do your self a favour adn watch Ashfaque sb's masterpieces and then compare them to the pop spirituality of Shehr e Zaat.

Re: Shehr e Zaat by HUM TV

I already mentioned (probably in this thread) that at many places, the dialogues written by Umera Ahmed for the serial sounds like passages from Fazail e aimaal. Their intent may be good, but the way they executed and now claiming (especially Samina Peerzada telling to have performed all scenes ba-wazoo) was a bit :nook: I think Zaheen Tahira’s role in Noor ul Huda Shah’s ‘Ajaibkhana’ was more powerful than Samina and that drama conveyed the message more properly without sounding sermon type
