shaving....

whenever i shave my underarms every single day but they dont look neat after shaving…i have been used hair removing creams but…koee faeeda nehi huwa…why?
i dont wana wax them…

Re: shaving....

i think you should try with waxing or using an epilator. epilator does hurt so does waxing but i have been told by some gs members that after doing it a few times it feels better. and now it doesn't hurt that much :)

Re: shaving…

what do you mean not neat? :konfused:

waxing is best…and yes HNK you have heard right. After waxing a few times your hair follicles become weakened making it easier to pull the hairs out…this in turn makes it less painful.

Re: shaving....

wax wax wax !

Re: shaving....

of course it doesn't look neat. we're prone to coarser and more dense hair than a lot of other race's and shaving is just cutting the hair off at the surface of the skin.
on the underarms shaving most likely leaves you with bumpy skin and depending on how quickly your hair grows you may even have stubble by the next day.
wax.

i just had what is hopefully my last laser treatment on my underarms. if you can afford it, it's the best thing ever (when done at a proper clinic with the appropriate lasers for asian skin types).

Re: shaving....

laser is probably the best, but its not a permanent solution. you need to go back for touch ups, usually at least once a year. wax is the best cheap option...I used to have the same issue and the first few times wax REALLY hurt but it was totally worth it. less hair grew in, and now it doesnt hurt at all. Buy a wax machine to keep at home rather than that sally hensen microwave stuff and do it yourself :)

Re: shaving....

^laser is permanent reduction. you shouldn't need to go back for touch-ups that soon on somewhere like the underarms, only places where new growth can be stimulated such as the face. i'd finish it off with electrolysis anyway and do the same for any hairs that appeared later on if i really felt the need.

Re: shaving....

Wax it girl. It hurts at the beginning, but you'll get used to it. You won't even have to do it everyday. I have been waxing for years and now only need to do it a few times a year.

it's been 8 yrs since Ive had mine done and it hasnt grown back since...not one hair. never had any touch ups. It really depends where you are getting it done. Due to hormonal changes in the body there is a possibility that the hair can regrow but if it does it will only be fine and light colored hairs.

Even if touch ups are required once a year....it's much better then having to go in every 6 weeks for waxing.

Re: shaving....

^seriously. and even whilst you're having treatments it's great. the hair sheds, you have a few weeks of smooooth skin (even waxing is not comparable) and when it starts growing back again, it's time for the next appointment.

Angel eyes.. great to hear that not even one hair is back. How many treatments did you have if you don't mind me asking? Did you also have laser anywhere else?
I started bikini and legs recently.

Re: shaving....

Get your under-arms lasered... best thing i ever did.

it's like you have a 12 o'clock shadow right? you have to wax the hair off, eventually that shadow will go away it's because the hair under your armpit is a bit ingrown and when you shave you don't get the closest shave, plus the skin there is thinner, and has never seen the light of day.

my friend's mom used to do my eyebrows and i complained about that problem and she told me in a few months of waxing it will be over with and she was right. she would wax it and if there were any strays she'd thread it (yes i realize the horror you may think but once that area has hit wax it's pretty numb)

Re: shaving....

I tried wax and yes they used thread too afterwards but the 5 o Clock shadow does not go.

wax and wax but regularly!

oh u really did? Is it costly? And how do you feel now?

that is because the underarms are dense with hair. your hair grows in cycles, so there is all the hair that you see and then there are the rest of the follicles from which the hair still hasn't grown out.
you wax, that hair is gone. but in a week or two you start to see hair growing. that is not the hair that you waxed but hair that was beneath the skin at the time of waxing. it's all this hair that causes the grey colour.
plus as mentioned above the skin is thin and the skin has never seen sun, which makes it more pronounced.

when you have laser and the follicles are destroyed that greyness is greatly diminished or even completely disappears.

Re: shaving....

East or West, waxing is the best. Wax it yaar. nothing happens. It will hurt a lil in the begning and then its all good. :)

And once you wax you ll be spare from doing it daily. You might feel the need of waxing again after 3-4 weeks. Does it not sound good?

:AID:

Re: shaving....

if u go to a decent place, even waxing won't hurt as much.

i've been to desi salons where the area hurt for days. whereas i went to proper spa/salons for waxing and seriously... no after-pain

Re: shaving....

waxing is great.. not only it takes away the 'stubble' but also the new hair is so much lighter and fewer.

I had 6 sessions. I have not done laser anywhere else. Altho I am very close to getting it done in the near future.

totally agree!

absolutely! that shadow goes away after waxing repeatedly because while you wax you are exfoliating the dead skin cells as well.

the amount of money you spend on getting a laser treatment will end up paying itself off. In the end it will cost less then waxing...it's just a matter of having the money upfront for the treatment. costs about $500 for underarms..that was a "special rate" (price may have gone down by now...i got it done several yrs ago when it was still pretty new)
