shaved chin....

my sister has gone n shaved her chin…actually she said shes been doing iut for years…but today i could sees stubble, she then told me she shaved because of watever reasn, n now too ashamed about it.

so shes too ashamed to grow it n then wax/thread it so wat can she do…pls help.

Re: shaved chin…

I know several girls that have done this. :smack:

She has no choice…she will have to grow it out a bit and start waxing so the hair stops coming back tougher and thicker. Otherwise she is probably looking at a beard in no time.

The only thing I can think of that might help hide the hair is if she bleached it when it grew out. Its harmful and sometimes people react too but thats the only other option.

Re: shaved chin....

bleach....hmmmm

but shes sensitive to everythin hence shaving,,,,,,,

Re: shaved chin....

don't u think having chin hair could be hormonal and may be fixing that can reduce growth?

There's nothing else apart from electrolysis or laser.

Re: shaved chin....

Shaving won't cause her to grow more hair, it's a myth that shaving causes thicker/coarser hair. The razor cuts the hair at a blunt edge, hence it looks coarse. Waxing or anything which causes it to be removed from the root will change the texture, be it thicker or thinner. Chin hair is usually hormonal; does she have hair anywhere else on her face or her body like her torso/stomach? If she does then she should go to the doctor and check to see whether she may have PCOS.

Either way, laser or electrolysis is the best option. If the hair is becoming coarse after shaving, it's not due to the shaving but rather her hormones are changing so treatment should be done asap. Generally, facial hair starts thin and gets thicker and we often believe it was because of that onnnnnne time we shaved or threaded or whatever when in reality it was out of our control and was bound to happen eventually due to the changing hormones.

Re: shaved chin....

if its hormonal laser/electrolysis won't get rid of them n might b a waste of money.

Re: shaved chin....

The PCOS is a possibility too. I agree.

Re: shaved chin....

I thought I was reading my own post when I read mwh's. Nadz if you are in London pm me, I will give you details of my electrologist. Best choice for it if she has the money.
Chin hair isn't always a sign of a hormonal problem, many women will begin to develop it if their follicles are sensitive to androgenic hormones. But if there's any other reason to suggest pcos, she should see her GP.

Shaving is her best non permanent option.

Thank goodness someone brought up the stupid saying that shaving causes thicker/coarser hair!

Re: shaved chin....

I'm not sure if that is such a myth. I see this stuff all the time and the more women shave...their hair does actually come out courser and thicker than before.

Re: shaved chin....

the follicle sensitivity can be treated too but she needs the right doc. Medications such as Spironolactone (Aldactone) block androgens and protect the hair follicles against the testosterone(normal or not). but again only the right person can help. Also blood-works don't always giv accurate results, find a holistic practitioner who can do saliva tests as they r more accurate in finding hormonal issues.

Re: shaved chin....

has anyone here tried Vaniqa with any success?

Re: shaved chin....

I am no expert in women shaving .. but just make sure that she only shaves along the growth of hair and not against (no ulta shave .. no moving razor from bottom to top, only top to bottom)

Re: shaved chin....

Now I am going to have nightmares.
