I am doing some research and I need your help. Can you tell me which background your maid is from? Why is she working as a maid? What are her ‘majbooriya’? Which area does she live in? which conditions? Basically i want her life story.
Anyone up for it??? plsssssss

Re: Share ur Massi's background
she's from hispanic origin
And her majbooriyaan are the she doesn't speak English and wants her entire village to cross the border without being shot.
Re: Share ur Massi's background
^ lol.
NJMasti! Maids and other home workers are very popular and common.
Why being so defensive and confrontational my friend?
Ariel!
No one can exactly tell you their stories. Seems like a silly and stupid project.
It's like asking who are janitors and their life stories working for the companies which have elevators in their buildings!!!
These maids belong to many different ethnic background. They can be of many different ages from young to very old.

Re: Share ur Massi's background
Our maid back in Pak is pakistani. Very poor and her reason to work as maid is that she has got 4-5 kids and her husband is a charsi, doesnt work. She wants her kids to study as well as of course for daily bread she has to work.

thank u :)
how much do u pay her? and how many hours does she spend in your house daily?
and where does she live?
Re: Share ur Massi’s background
i dont know if its relevant but i am scared of maids.they stare so much=O or i think its me who gets stared .
uff! Diwanan ! they are common back home. What ticks me off is that maids are rarity here… they are not dependable. There is NO relationship as to maids being maids and you being the boss.
All these women back home enjoy the service of having a maid. I AM EXTREMELYYYY JEALOUS! ![]()
oh I know I can always hire a maid here. Sure I did! It cost me $75 to have 2 maids sweep and mop the floors of my entire home! THAT’S IT! *****es - they charge too much.

She lives in a room my mom has given her. its a room and ofcourse bath etc. she doesnt pay for the water n electricity. Moreover she gets her monthly salary which i m not sure but is around Rs.3000.
She is not at home for whole day but for few hrs. She needs to clean the entire house inside and wash dishes. One of her sons cleans the outside area like veranda and sehan etc.
Also since my mom runs a school so her kids are studying there for free or discounted fee (dont know).
We get them clothes too on Eid etc.
Re: Share ur Massi's background
massi means "khala" , mother's sister lol

That is very nice of you :) to my knowledge that is more than what other maids get but i might be wrong. Thank you for your time. May Allah bless you.
its not slang, they use the word out of respect ![]()
Re: Share ur Massi's background
Our maids 'back home' at my grandparents house never seem to last long, everytime I've been there seems to be a new one. I think our family back there is too harsh I mean why else would they keep getting sacked?? I've seen in some other families the servants spend nearly their whole lives with them and there's a bond there..
One girl, about 12/13 got sent home cos she was apparently 'messing around' with some of the local boys, I think it was just rumours tho and God knows where she has ended up now. I feel really bad thinking about it :(
At my mums sister's house they have a woman who has a 9yr-old daughter, her husband took a second wife but she can't divorce him even tho she wants to cos she reckons no-one else will have her. She asked my Mum a few times to bring the girl to the UK cos she's really intelligent and my parents thought about it but in the end decided against..
So many sad stories..
A woman who my family knew ages ago got stabbed to death by her maid, husband is in the army and was away at the time. I have to admit I was thinking what did she do to end up getting attacked like that, I mean surely a maid wouldn't risk prison or death for nothing? She could have just run away if she was unhappy..
Re: Share ur Massi's background
Ariel sorry but you seem to be obsessed with maasis
Re: Share ur Massi's background
mama - it's funny how this "maasi" about 14 years old, back home - was having an affair with the head man of the family she was working for. Everyone in the neighborhood knew about it cause she lost her virginity to this old grump... except for the poor wife and her kids :(
... and no one was planning to tell either cause then it would create a havoc and the neighbors were thinking about the "poor kids" would have a broken home.
aaaaaaaa not sure who you want to kill in this situation - the neighbors, the maasi, the man????
lol
Yes. In Pakistan they are relatively cheaper. One Maasi for everything. Dish Washing, cleaning, cooking, Laundry etc.

Not sure what the purpose of this project is.
