Re: Share beautiful traditions of your area

Ok munh dikahi ki kia rasm hai..

We have a rasm in Sindh called ' Hath wathaniyon - exchanging hands'. When bride comes in In-laws home, bride and groom are seated opoosite to each other with a plate full of sugar or rice in between them. Relatives come and exchange rice/sugar with bride, after two-three times, bride's hand is put above the hand of relative full of sugar / rice. Then the relative is asked what he/she is going to give to bride and when he/she tell this much amount, his / her hands are emptied from sugar/ rice and he/she goes away by giving the amount to bride.

Re: Share beautiful traditions of your area

Same is true for entire forward castes and Sikhs as well, they generally avoid taking food and in case they take anything they pay back it through some gifts etc.

Re: Share beautiful traditions of your area

we still do that, when my parents go to Pakistan, they bring back few ajraks and handmade home decor stuff with sindhi touch.
guests always loved them! :) also, mom often get asked to make Sindhi biryani when guest would come over.

when we used to go our village, they give you handmade rilis, ajrak or handmade tunics. I still have a small handmade pouch with lots of embroidery and mirrors on it.

so now i want biryani! :D
