I love the tradition of not returning empty plates. For example: If someone send you sweets, etc in plates, then you keep plates for some days and send something special say :desert in the same plates.

I think this is a universal tradition between all Muslims.

Re: Share beautiful traditions of your area

Re: Share beautiful traditions of your area
music is haraam thats why......
they want to make marriage ceremony in accordance with shariah as much as they can do......
Re: Share beautiful traditions of your area
same with us!
Re: Share beautiful traditions of your area
Yes, but many scholars here in Pakistan also consider music as haram.. but never heard that any molvi denied to perform nikah on this context. I've observed that Nikah is performed at Masajid before Rukhsati ceremony.

Hmmm, about rukhasati…well, in our family/tradition, like hattori san says, we’ve never had a seperate nikkah/seperate rukhsati type deal. The only time I’ve ever seen that occur either in India or pakistan is when there was an immigration issue at hand, and papers needed to be filed or something. Other than that, we ALWAYS have the nikkah in the presence of invited guests at the shaadi hall/lawn/hotel and the bride is sent with husband/inlaws that same night after dinner/party is over. Next day Valima. Day after that Chohti. That’s how we hyderabadis do it. Also, we do not have long, drawn out engagements or nikahs…it’s baat pakki then straight shaadi!
Re: Share beautiful traditions of your area
phir doosri dafa kon khana bhejta hoga…
There were some of my friends, who always forget to return bartan and on next occasion my Amma used to say ‘Tumhare iss dost ne mera wo wala set kharab kia, aur uss dost ne wo wala’.
Re: Share beautiful traditions of your area
Rukhsati is on same date of nikha so no alag dawat...........:D
Re: Share beautiful traditions of your area
do you have tradition of inviting future hajis?
Future Hajis to nahi, but everyone going on Hajj do meet to their relatives and ask for forgiveness and when they return people go to them with pholon ke haar and sweets and they give Aab e zam zam, khajoor and tasbeeh. Recently, I see a trend (I hate this trend) that people give money to the persons who return from Hajj and they also bring perfumes, clothes and other things for relatives. Its bearable to small extent, but its problematic, when there are big joint families.
Re: Share beautiful traditions of your area
