Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

At Thirmidhi, An Nisai, Al Hakim all reported an authentic narration from the Prophet [saws] that he[saws] said :

"After me there would be rulers, so whoever enters upon them in so much that he trusts them in spite of their lies, and helps them in their oppression, then verily that individual is not of me, and I am not of him, and he will be denied from the Hawd, and whoever does not enter upon them the rulers], nor assists them in their oppression, nor trusts them in their state of lying, then verily he is of me, and I am of him, and he will be allowed to the Hawd."

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

Hudhaifah bin Al-Yaman:razi: reported that the Prophet:saw: said:

**“Prophethood (meaning Muhammad (SAW) himself) will remain with you for as long as Allah wills it to remain, then Allah will raise it up whenever he wills to raise it up. Afterwards, there will be a Caliphate that follows the guidance of Prophethood remaining with you for as long as Allah wills it to remain. Then, He will raise it up whenever He wills to raise it up. Afterwards, there will be a reign of violently oppressive [The reign of Muslim kings who are partially unjust] rule and it will remain with you for as long as Allah wills it to remain. Then, there will be a reign of tyrannical rule and it will remain for as long as Allah wills it to remain. Then, Allah will raise it up whenever He wills to raise it up. Then, there will be a Caliphate that follows the guidance of Prophethood.” **

Then Hudhaifah said, “The Prophet stopped speaking.”

[As-Silsilah As-Sahihah, vol. 1, no. 5]

The same hadith without any change of a word is also narrated by Hadhrat Nauman Ibn-e-Basheer:razi: in Musnad-e-Ahmad Ibn-e-Hanbal.

Volume 5, Book 58, Number 188:

Narrated 'Amr bin Maimun:

During the pre-lslamic period of ignorance I saw a she-monkey surrounded by a number of monkeys. They were all stoning it, because it had committed illegal sexual intercourse. I too, stoned it along with them.

i always go bananas whenever i read this..

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

For how long will you be allowed to mock Prophet:saw: and his companions?

You are one sick person. Really.

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

PA…There are even funnier sayings in the Holy Quran…You’ll be rolling on the floor laughing when you read some of the stuff in it…

For true Muslims, the words of Allah :swt: and the Prophet :saw: bring tears to their eyes…

As for another Hadith which I like; “Allah :swt: is gentle and loves gentleness in all things…”

(It’s authentic…)

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

AQ are u really and idiot or u just play one on the internet? Put your reading glasses on and read again.. is this hadith by the Prophet Muhammad?

ok.. Qur’an haters.. show me the ‘laughable’ stuff in the Qur’an please.

It’s interesting.. how people would stoop as low as to caste aspersions on the Holy Book just to defend lame fabrications they hold so dear..

As for the ‘hadith’ it had a profound impact on me.. I came across it when i used to believe in these stories.. and this one had me thinking..

hmmm so this guy comes across some monkeys ‘stoning’ a female monkey.. now how did he know WHY they were doing it? and is there something like ‘legal’ monkey sexual intercourse?

Trust me.. u’d have many hadith philosophers like AQ here defend these inanities just cuz they can’t handle the truth.

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

On GS, people write about many things they do during the duration of a day…They mention it here…Some say it’s funny, some get ticked off, some give advice e.t.c…

This was Amr (razi)'s event that had happened during one of his days and he had related it to other companions and that’s why it is in the book…

The act of stoning adulterous monkeys(?) is neither in the Quran or Sunnah…:hehe:

Don’t know if the other companions laughed or smiled at this event…But it’s just that…An event…

P.S. Look at the title of the chapter from where you took this Hadith…It’s about the companions…What they did, said, saw e.t.c…

[quote]
Al-Salâm `Alaykum wa Rahmah Allah wa Barakâtuh.

The following is narrated from `Amr b. Maymûn in Sahîh al-Bukhârî (3849):

I had seen in the times of ignorance some monkeys who surrounded a she-monkey who had committed unlawful sexual intercourse and they stoned it, so I stoned it along with them.

In Fath al-Bârî (7/184), Ibn Hajar al-Asqalânî gives another narration of this event fromAmr b. Maymûn that goes into far greater detail:
I was in Yemen tending the sheep of my people up upon an elevation. A male monkey came with a female and laid his head on her hand. Then a smaller monkey came and beckoned towards her, so she gently slipped her hand out from under the cheek of the first monkey and followed him. He mated with her while I looked on. Then she returned and gently tried to slip her hand back under the cheek of the first monkey, but he woke up suddenly, smelled her, and cried out. Then the monkeys gathered round and he began screaming while pointing towards her with his hand. The monkeys went all about and came back with that monkey that I recognized. They dug a pit for the two of them and stoned them both. So I had witnessed stoning being carried out by other than Adam’s progeny.

These are not hadîth from the Prophet (peace be upon him). They are just some behaviors `Amr b. Maymûn witnessed being exhibited by some animals. It is merely his interpretation that the animals were stoning one another as a punishment for unlawful sexual intercourse. There is no way that he could have known their true motives.
Ibn Hajar writes [Fath al-Bârî (7/185)]:
It is not necessary from an event resembling unlawful sexual intercourse and stoning that it was really a case of unlawful sexual intercourse and a prescribed punishment. He merely described it the way he did since it resembled these things. It does not mean that legal accountability was being applied to animals.

And Allah knows best.

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

if it’s a book for Gupshup i’ve no problems with monkey stories getting space in it.. but Sunni Muslims consider these compliations a major source of jurisprudence.. their ‘Shariah’ is derived from these monkey stoning absurdities.

Nice try Sadiyah but the second version does not mention him stoning the monkeys together with other monkeys.. I suspect some monkey business.

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

as has been mentioned, al Bukhari’s not citing this as a hadith of the Prophet (saw). Such non-Prophetic hadith do not always conform (and perhaps al Bukhari didn’t go out of his way to ensure they did conform) to the rigorous conditions for authenticity that he measured the remaining massive majority of hadith against… for example, Sahih al Bukhari contains reports (usually in the form of chapter headings) that sometimes have incomplete chains of transmission and even no chains at all… these are treated differently and require verification…

al Bukhari appears to be offering Amr ibn Maymun’s report as a historical narrative without intending to derive a legislative ruling from it… in any case, its authenticity needs looking at because its chain contains Nu’aim ibn Hammad al Marwazi (d. 228H) about whom the hadith master Ibn Hajr (d. 852H) said: “Truthful, makes many mistakes [in reporting]… Ibn Adi followed up his errors and said: ‘The remainder of his hadith are sound’’” (Taqrib, 7166); Abu Dawud (author of the Sunan) said: “Nu’aim ibn Hammad has some [has reported some] twenty hadith of the Prophet (saw) that have no basis” (Cf. al Dhahabi, Mizan al I’tidal, 4:9102, for an overview of complimentary and disparaging remarks on Nu’aim)

from what i can see, where al Bukhari cites a Prophetic hadith through Nu’aim he does so only to provide a secondary chain of transmission to support a primary (already authentic) chain… for example, see al Bukhari, 9:299… one might argue that in such cases the chain containing Nu’aim is dispensable

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

well giving even an inch to liars is inexcusable.. we're talking religious foundations here.. jurisprudence, shariah and what not.. shoddy sholarship in this regard should not be acceptible. AQ's kind are ready to slit throat based on this garbage yet there is no concentrated effort from the religious scholars to revisit their 'science' and analyze the criteria they set to qualify narrations..

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

^ your concern for hadith is gratifying... be assured though that no "religious foundations" are arrived at by "giving ...] an inch to liars"

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

Before calling someone idiot, you should know better to follow Quran and should not resort to name calling. This thread was for Ahaadeeth-e-Nabawi:saw: and Yes a hadeeth by its definition is from Muhammad:saw:

The words you quoted were ‘Moquf’ .. The narration does not go to Prophet:saw:

Chain of Transmission is in the following image link:

http://www.bismikaallahuma.org/Hadith/Exegesis/maimoonchain.gif

Therefore, since it is clear that this hadîth is not a saying of the Prophet:saw:, much less ascribed to him, it cannot be a basis for a ruling in Islam.

Now come to the context, according to Hesham Azmy it should be clear that ‘Amrû bin Maîmûn was relating his thinking or perception prior to the advent of Islam - how he had foolishly believed that even monkeys had committed adultery! It happened during a period whereby the pre-Islamic Arabs would indulge in the most detestable acts such as burying their daughters alive and doing the tawaf while they were naked. Thus this means that Islam has elevated the status of mankind by making them more rational and mindful of their actions, a conclusion that the haters and enemies of Islam would certainly not like to admit.

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

Oh yes… the other point being that Amr ibn Maimun is not even a companion of the Prophet (saw)… though he accepted Islam during the Prophet’s (saw) lifetime at the hands of Muadh ibn Jabal (r) it doesn’t appear that he actually got to meet the Prophet (saw) himself – which is one of the conditions for being designated a companion - before his (saw) death

we see that Ibn Hajr (d. 852H) categorises him among those who did not see the Prophet (saw) (al Isaba fi Tamyiz al Sahaba, 6520) where he also quotes al Ijli (d. 261H) describing him as a ‘successors’ (tabi’i)… similarly, al Dhahabi (d 748H) lists him among the ‘elder successors’ in his biographical work, Siyar A’lam al Nubala

in fact the correct technical term for this kind of report is that it is ‘Maqtu’ (usually used for reports going back to the tabi’in/successors)… the term ‘Moquf’ (which you have used) is generally reserved for reports arising from or traced back to the Companion (r) level only…

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

well thank you for the research and maybe AQ is reading it too .. do i hear an apology AQ? .. u accused me of mocking the Prophet and his companions.. it appears I was doing neither.

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

Does that mean that you now believe in Hadiath ?

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

No… You won’t hear an apology from me because my understanding and research shows otherwise:

http://www.bismikaallahuma.org/Hadith/Exegesis/she-monkey.htm

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

^ that research is contradictory... in one place it says that "the person who uttered the above words was not the Prophet Muhammâd (P) himself, **but by one of his Companions"** (see just before isnad diagram) then later quotes Ibn Qutaiba saying "we state that the narrative of monkeys is neither on authority of Allah's Messneger sic **nor any of his Companions" (my emphasis)... so which is it?
