Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

Hadhrat Thawban :razi: reported that the Prophet:saw: said:

  • “The People will soon summon one another to attack you as people when eating invite others to share their dish.”

Someone asked: “Will that be because of our small numbers at that time?”

He :saw: replied:

  • “No, you will be numerous at that time: but you will be scum and rubbish like that carried down by a torrent, and Allah will take fear of you from the breasts of your enemy and cast Wahn in your hearts (because of your OWN actions.)”

Someone asked: “What is Wahn Ya Rasoolulah :saw:?”

The Prophet :saw: replied:

( ﺕﻮﻤﻟﺍ ﻪﺘﻴﻫﺍﺮﮐﻭﺎﻴﻧﺪﻟﺍﺐﺣ )

Love of the world (and worldly life) and hatred (and fear) of death.”

(Related by Imam Ahmad with strong chains of narrators, and Abu Dawud).

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

Wah, that word **'wahn' **is so scary. nevertheless beautiful hadiath. Jazk-Allah. I will share some of my favorite, but then I feel guilty that whatever my prophet saw ( may be life be sacrificed for him) said is one of it is kind and is as beautiful as him saw. To me I would do unjust if I prefer his one saying on another. :)

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

On the authority of Abu Hurairah, who said : the messenger of Allah said :

"Allah the Almighty is good and accepts only that which is good. Allah has commanded the faithful to do that which he commanded the messengers, and the Almighty has said: "O ye messengers ! Eat of the good things and do right". And Allah the Almighty has said : "O ye who believe! Eat of the good things wherewith We have provided you"
Then he mentioned [the case of] a man who, having journeyed far, is dishevelled and dusty and who spreads out his hands to the sky [saying] : "O Lord! O Lord!" - while his food is unlawful, his drink unlawful, his clothing unlawful, and he is nourished unlawfully, so how can he be answered !"

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

**Volume 1, Book 3, Number 73:

Narrated 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud:

The Prophet said, "Do not wish to be like anyone except in two cases. (The first is) A person, whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it righteously; (the second is) the one whom Allah has given wisdom (the Holy Qur'an) and he acts according to it and teaches it to others." (Fateh-al-Bari page 177 Vol. 1) **

**Volume 1, Book 3, Number 79:

Narrated Abu Musa:

The Prophet said, "The example of guidance and knowledge with which Allah has sent me is like abundant rain falling on the earth, some of which was fertile soil that absorbed rain water and brought forth vegetation and grass in abundance. (And) another portion of it was hard and held the rain water and Allah benefited the people with it and they utilized it for drinking, making their animals drink from it and for irrigation of the land for cultivation. (And) a portion of it was barren which could neither hold the water nor bring forth vegetation (then that land gave no benefits). The first is the example of the person who comprehends Allah's religion and gets benefit (from the knowledge) which Allah has revealed through me (the Prophet learns and then teaches others). The last example is that of a person who does not care for it and does not take Allah's guidance revealed through me (He is like that barren land.)" **

Think of these two out of many to be my favs...

Think of any one of them as a single reply from me...There are countless...These I just came across in the Hadith database...How many more would there be? Beautiful ones...

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

Nice thread AQ :k:

The 3 that have had an impact on me in some way or another are the following 3 hadiths from Imam An-Nawawi’s Forty Hadiths:

  1,

On the authority of the Commander of the Faithful, Aboo Hafs `Umar ibn al-Khattaab who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah say:

** Actions are but by intention and every man shall have but that which he intended. Thus he whose migration (Hijrah) was for Allah and His Messenger, his migration migration was for Allah and His Messenger , and he whose migration was to achieve some worldly benefit or to take some woman in marriage, his migration was for that which he migrated. **

It is related by the two imaams of the scholars of Hadith, Aboo Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ismaaeel ibn Ibraheem ibn al-Mugheera ibn Bardizbah al-Bukhaaree and Aboo-l-Husain Muslim ibn al-Hajjaaj ibn Muslim al-Qushairee an-Naisaabooree, in their two Saheehs, which are the soundest of compiled books.

  2,
On the authority of Aboo `Abdullah an-Nu`maan the son of Basheer, who said: I head the Messenger of Allah say:

**That which is lawful is plain and that which is unlawful is plain and between the two of them are doubtful matters about which not many people know. Thus he who avoids doubtful matters clears himself in regard to his religion and his honour, but he who falls into doubtful matters falls into that which is unlawful, like the shepherd who pastures around a sanctuary, all but grazing therein. Truly every king has a sanctuary, and truly Allah's sanctuary is His prohibitions. truly in the body there is a morsel of flesh, which, if it be whole, all the body is whole, and which, if it is diseased, all of it is diseased. truly, it is the heart. **

It was related by al-Bukhaari and Muslim.

  3,
On the authority of Abu Hurairah, who said : The messenger of Allah said :

** Part of someone's being a good Muslim is his leaving alone that which does not concern him.**

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

Hadith - Bukhari 9.237, Narrated Abu Huraira :razi:

Allah’s Apostle :saw: said, "The Hour will not be established

(1) till two big groups fight each other whereupon there will be a great number of casualties on both sides and they will be following one and the same religious doctrine,

(2) till about thirty Dajjals (liars) appear, and each one of them will claim that he is Allah’s Apostle,

(3) till the religious knowledge is taken away.

(4) earthquakes will increase in number

(5) time will pass quickly,

(6) afflictions will appear,

(7) Al-Harj, (i.e., killing) will increase,

(8) till wealth will be in abundance–so abundant that a wealthy person will worry lest nobody should accept his Zakat, and whenever he will present it to someone, that person (to whom it will be offered) will say, ‘I am not in need of it,’

(9) till the people compete with one another in constructing high buildings,

(10) till a man when passing by a grave of someone will say, ‘Would that I were in his place,’

(11) and till the sun rises from the West.

So when the sun will rise and the people will see it (rising from the West) they will all believe (embrace Islam) but that will be the time when: (As Allah said,) ‘No good will it do to a soul to believe then, if it believed not before, nor earned good (by deeds of righteousness) through its Faith.’ (6.158) And the Hour will be established while two men spreading a garment in front of them but they will not be able to sell it, nor fold it up; and the Hour will be established when a man has milked his she-camel and has taken away the milk but he will not be able to drink it; and the Hour will be established before a man repairing a tank (for his livestock) is able to water (his animals) in it; and the Hour will be established when a person has raised a morsel (of food) to his mouth but will not be able to eat it."

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

i have a question on this hadith on p.1 of this thread

http://www.paklinks.com/gs/showthread.php?t=154717

“weak” according to al Suyuti (d. 911H) in his al Jami al Saghir (7384) and “fabricated” as per Muhaddith al Albani in Da’if al Jami al Saghir (4780)

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

^
that’s interesting, for I have seen many renowned speakers quoting that hadeeth.

Anyway, here is one more, can you check the authenticity of it as well? , by the way, believe in this hadith to the point of faith:

**Hadith - Muslim #6924, Narrated Abu Hurayrah:razi: **

Allah’s Apostle:saw: said:

The Last Hour will not come until:

  • The Romans land at al-A’maq or in Dabiq. An army consisting of the best (soldiers) of the people on Earth at that time will come from Medina (to oppose them). When they arrange themselves in ranks, the Romans will say: Do not stand between us and those (Muslims) who took prisoners from among us. Let us fight them. The Muslims will say: Nay, by Allah, we shall never turn aside from you and from our brethren so that you may fight them. They will then fight and a third (part) of the army, whom Allah will never forgive, will run away. A third (part of the army), which will be constituted of excellent martyrs in Allah’s eyes, would be killed. The third who will never be put on trial will win and they will be the conquerors of Constantinople. As they are busy in distributing the spoils of war (amongst themselves) after hanging their swords by the olive trees, Satan will cry: The Dajjal has taken your place among your families. They will then come out, but it will be of no avail. When they reach Syria, he will come out while they are still preparing themselves for battle, drawing up the ranks. Certainly, the time of prayer will come and then Jesus (peace be upon him), son of Mary, descend and will lead them in prayer. When the enemy of Allah see him, it will (disappear) just as salt dissolves in water and if he (Jesus) were not to confront them at all, even then it would dissolve completely. Allah would kill them by his hand and he would show them their blood on his lance (the lance of Jesus Christ).

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

What is al-amaq or dabiq?

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

Al-A'maq or Dabiq refers to the name of a place.

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

Yes I know that sherlock. I'm asking where it is, or what common name it goes by today?

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

Al Amaq is 51 Km in the North of Al-Mahd

and AL Mahd is Located to the Southeast of Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

and for Dabiq, I heard that the place is in Syria (Shaam)

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

I don't remember any references ....nor can I tell you the chain of narrators....
but I'm in love with the following Hadith....it changed my life a lot!

'Al-muminu mira'at al mumin'
A Muslim is like a mirror for his muslim brother

Its tafseer says .....just like a mirror means .....muslim doesn't go to pick bad things about other muslim ....unless that muslim comes himself to seek advice .....a mirror never tells you more or less than you actually look ....n so should a muslim brother do for his brother .....n when you find something bad on part of other muslims ....act like a mirror ....as mirror doesn't go out to gossip to other people about you ....it tells you only ...so you can correct or fix it .....

I absolutely LOVE it!
(I miss the times when all us cousins used to get together in afternoon....everyday to remember a hadith ....n my Taa'i ammaN (marhooma) would make us remember a new hadith everyday....may Allah grant her a place in Jannat amen!)sigh

Re: Share a Hadeeth that had a profound impact on you

it is in Sunan Abu Dawud (3:4900) and in al Bukhari’s work Al Adab al Mufrad (#239)

“The believer is the believer’s mirror, and the believer is the believer’s brother, who guards him against loss and protects him in his absence (lit. from behind).”
