Shanakht HUMTV

Re: Shanakht HUMTV

I'm watching from episode 17 backwards because that is when i started watching with parents. I think cousin is from mother's side.

Re: Shanakht HUMTV

When you confirm it, could you please drop me a note?

If from mothers side, is she his mother's sisters child. Or his mother's brothers child. And in either case, is the sibling younger than his mother. Or older. Or a twin.

If a twin, fraternal or identical. And who was ahead by a nose at birth. And one nose = how many minutes?

Re: Shanakht HUMTV

Since u r watching the episodes backward, you may want to check our a relevant thread in CAFE - count from million backward

Re: Shanakht HUMTV

:rotfl: BTW, they are cousins from paternal side. chacha ki beti, taya ka beta

Re: Shanakht HUMTV

I really think they are over doing this whole good v/s bad ..

In faryal's case, husband should realize its his mother who is creating issues . Faryal too has problem of not giving due attention to her husband. Its not about her clothing or what not. but the mother should stop telling her all the time how good aini would have been as a DIL !!!

Aini , such a fictional character. I cannot relate with her in many ways when I think of real life scenario's.

Re: Shanakht HUMTV

Muqa bhai has clarified and has had final word. She is from the paternal side. So father's sister's child. She is younger. No twins involved. The brother and sister are not twins. Brother is older than sister by about half a decade.

Re: Shanakht HUMTV

Haan main wohi kehne wali thi. I’m watching backwards so ulta answer hona chaiye. Thanks for clarifying.

Re: Shanakht HUMTV

She's a bit too ideal. First in everything, always helps everyone, thinks of others first and is modest in all ways. Faryal is not bad but she is out of place and that has made her frustrated and she is taking it out on Aini. Faryal's husband keeps looking at Aini and Rohan thinking they have a perfect life and he doesn't like how his wife is not understanding what is socially appropriate in Pakistan. Like you can't use endearing terms for husband/wife in public like she does, or speak loudly to unrelated males. It would be fine in the West but not in Pakistan. It would be frustrating always getting compared to Aini.

Re: Shanakht HUMTV

Nooooo. That's why computers were invented. That is why number 0 was discovered.

Re: Shanakht HUMTV

How can the same person be chachi ki beti AND taya ka beta?

Tauba.

Re: Shanakht HUMTV

So you are saying a nose = about half a decade?

Re: Shanakht HUMTV

but we were talking about cousins.

If a single person can be cousin to himself / herself, then everything is possible :snooty:

Re: Shanakht HUMTV

Depends on type and length of nose but yes it is possible.

Re: Shanakht HUMTV

Waisai didn't Hashim over react just a little bit with the whole don't talk loudly with co workers bit?
Like come on! Usnai kaun si jhappi daal di - and like h im walking out doesn't create a scene

Re: Shanakht HUMTV

Can you write down the equation that relates length to time. Is there a conversion factor you are omitting. Or should I keep my nose out of it

Re: Shanakht HUMTV

That is what i thought as well. It'just her personality to speak loudly. Hashim knew that before he married her and it takes time to settle into a new country.
Still I guess it is difference between the UK and how to behave in Pakistan or in subcontinent.

Re: Shanakht HUMTV

I don't nose what you are saying. Uncle I said type not time..

I recommend you watch it from episode 1. It makes you think what defines liberal/conservative. Do clothes really define who is liberal/conservative? The word liberal is used number of times in the serial but I find the conservatively dressed characters more liberal in their thought and less judgemental. Often times people think someone who is wearing salwar kameez, dupatta, hijab, beard, turban, sari they must be rigid and inflexible in their views but in actuality they may not be.

Re: Shanakht HUMTV

I have a feeling it isn't a real beard. He should have got into character and grown a beard.

Re: Shanakht HUMTV

I started watching from the beginning. How realistic is Shanakht? Do people with hijab and beard really face so much discrimination and judegement in Pakistan?
Also in episode 4 what is wrong with having Indian neighbours in UK?
The people who call themselves “liberals” are judgemental towards people just because they have hijab or beard. How is that liberal minded? Some of the double standards don’t make sense. Kashaf’s husband Harris says religious people don’t treat their wives well then he slaps his wife.

Re: Shanakht HUMTV

just read Nadeem Paracha's blogs in Dawn. People do pass judgement for beard and hijabi people. The first tag they got is 'Mulla / Mullani'.

BTW, everyone judges other. Liberal judges religious. Religious judges liberal. Good and bad comes from both kind of people. Having beard doesn't guarantee good behavior and clean shaven and Jeans wearing person are not necessary to be evil or unaware of their religion.
