I am afarid PM does not have the power to kick a rangroot out of an army mess, how would he kick the americans out. Lets be realistic, PM only takes the line given by the military.
So male tahira-sayed(PM) still should not try to look good from all angels and should not make us fool.
We(ppl) don't need to lower standard of decency so much just because some criminals manage to get to the Govt.
As far as your post regarding why Pakistan Airforce did not respond here is what DGMO said "**About Pakistan Air Force response, he said the situation was not clear till morning so considering on ground situation which was not clear, the PAF was not asked to respond."
**Hmm I'll have to get used to this edit thingie...
its a serious vulnerabilty on defence forces part..wat if any other country can use the same logic to come in and strike somewhere in pakistan?
western border...is it NOT our border? reali stupid logic from the journails.
secondly is it only the shamsi base that our govt. has given to US. wat about tarbaila...wat about shahbaz air base ..wat about dhamial camp in pindi which hosts a NATO-US liasion office as well..wat about the sites that our govt. never tells us.
Its sad but our government learns the hard way, maybe some other bigger tragedy will force them to send all American spies packing their bags and leaving.
they do not have any kind of airdefence setup on border which afghanistan, the heaviest weapon these posts had was a mere 12.5mm gun which is useless in this case, but still they gave their life trying. PAF jets could easily reach there in 15-20 minutes, from Peshawar/Kamra, but that needs “orders” from top military leadership, which is in bed with USA. its a clear case of incompetence, and treason.
their own generals confirmed that it lasted for about 2 hours, and they also confirmed that they used AC 130 for this attack along with other aircrafts. if somebody still thinks its a mistake/ friendly fire, probably nothing can change their view then...
because of their incompetency
narrow minded defense policy which is india centric
because of treason
or a mix of all,
i only hope they learn now and move immediately to make proper arrangements, they lost the chance to give them a bloody nose, now is no time to retaliate
Hmm, who has the control of Shahbaz Airbase Jacobabad? I was watching some program and according to that even that’s with the Americans.
In the guise of training regarding F-16’s the Americans are there, whereas PAF claims the control of the base is with them. It is believed that Shahbaz airbase is more important to the Americans as compared to Shamsi. Here’s a news from August 2010 according to which interestingly Pakistan could not help people in Jacobabad as Americans did not allow them to use Shahbaz Airbase (now we need permission from the Americans to use our own installations, talking about becoming puppets)…
Airbase near Jacobabad under US control, Senate panel told
By Imran Ali Teepu
**ISLAMABAD Health relief operations in Jacobabad are not possible because the airbase in the area is controlled by the US.
**
The stunning statement was made by Health Secretary Khushnood Lashari during an appearance at the Senate Standing Committee on Health on Wednesday.
“Health relief operations are not possible in the flood-affected areas of Jacobabad because the airbase is with the United States,” Mr Lashari said while answering a question asked by Senator Semeen Yusuf Siddiqui of PML-Q.
Dr Jahanzeb Aurakzai, coordinator of the Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Centre, said “Foreign health teams could not start relief operations in remote areas because there are no airstrips close to several areas, including Jacobabad.”
The town has been evacuated and 500,000 to 700,000 people have been affected. People displaced from Jacobabad, Thul, Kandhkot, Kashmore, Ghouspur and Karumpur are camping in Dera Allahyar.
**
“It is very unfortunate that Americans can launch a drone attack from Shahbaz airbase but the government is helpless even in using the country`s base for relief operations,” Senator Semeen said while talking to this correspondent.
**
She said the health ministry should have requested the army to ask the US to allow relief operation from the base.
“I don`t know why the health minister failed to report the matter to the quarters concerned, specifically the Pakistan Army.
**“The airbase, which I think the government has given on lease to the Americans, should be used to provide immediate health relief to the flood-affected people.”
**
The committee, headed by Senator Kulsoom Parveen, was briefed by officials on health-related operations in the affected areas.
APP adds Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman has ordered PAF to form an air bridge of relief supply for Jacobabad which has been cut off from the rest of the country and make operational an airfield near Sibi for immediate supply of relief goods to flood-hit areas in the vicinity.
Presiding over a meeting, he asked the air staff to use all available human and material resources to provide timely relief to the affected people.
How can the PAF conduct any counter attack when we don't know how many bases have been given over to them within the country, and then they are mostly present in Corps Hq's and important defence installations?
An older report of Shahbaz Airbase, its far more important as the Americans have bigger aircrafts there…
Shahbaz Air Base
Jacobabad, Pakistan
28°16’37.32"N 68°27’05.04"E
The commercial airport at Jacobabad, about 300 miles north of Karachi and 300 miles southeast of Kandahar, is located on the border between Sindh and Baluchistan provinces. Jacobabad is one of three Pakistani bases used by US and allied forces to support the Operation Enduring Freedom campaign in Afghanistan. The other bases are at Dalbandin and Pasni.
**
Under the terms of an agreement with Pakistan, the Allied forces can use these bases for search and rescue missions, but are not permitted to use them to stage attacks on Taliban targets. Both Jacobabad and Pasni bases have been sealed off and a 5km cordon set up around the bases by Pakistani security forces.****As of mid-October 2001, it was reported that seven US C-130 cargo/troop carrying aircraft were at the airbase at Jacobabad, together with some helicopters [possibly including gunships]. The number of U.S. commandos on the base was said to have reached 200. About 250 Marines are stationed at Jacobabad for search-and-rescue missions.
**
Jacobabad was the scene of several protests by opponents of the US airstrikes on Afghanistan. The Jamaat-e-Islami threatened to storm the air base of Jacobabad, and police have arrested dozens of the party’s supporters. When Islamic extremists tried to march to the Jacobabad airfield on 14 October 2001, one person was killed and 24 people injured in clashes with police. Islamic militants summoned by Jamaat-e-Islam want to expel US personnel participating in the Operation Enduring Freedom military campaign. By late October 2001 roads to the city were blocked for days to prevent entry of protestors. But on 23 October about 200 militans appeared in the city, and at least 100 protesters had been arrested. Subsequently, protests subsided.
By late November 2001, hundreds of US Army soldiers were housed in 42 aircraft hangars at the air base.In early December 2001, Pakistan agreed to an American request for a long-term presence at Jacobabad. The US requested 40,000 metric tons of concrete to renovate the base. A wall surrounding the base will be raised by four feet, and air-conditioned barracks would be built for US troops [Jacobabad is said to be the hottest city in Pakistan]. All but a few Pakistani liaison officers would be withdrawn from the base. US forces would continue to maintain a presence at airfields in Pasni and Dalbandin.
By early 2002, the US had done extensive construction and repair work at Jacobabad, and installed radar equipment. In late December 2001, Pakistan notified the US that the bases at Jacobabad and Pasni might be needed by the Pakistani Air Force, in the wake of rising tensions between India and Pakistan. The facilities were partially reclaimed by Pakistan, and as of early January 2002 both Pakistani and American forces were operating at the two airfields. The US military retained exclusive use of the Dalbandin and Shamsi bases.
**
By March 2004 there were reports increased US operations in Pakistan. Two air bases – Dalbandin and Shahbaz – were the focus for extensive movements to provide logistical support for special forces and intelligence operations. Shahbaz Air Base near Jacobabad appeared to be the key to the US’s spring offensive. At Jacobabad, C-17 transports were reportedly involved in daily deliveries of supplies. A report in the Pakistani newspaper the Daily Times [10 March 2004] claimed that the airbase was under US control, with an inner ring of facilities off-limits to Pakistan’s military.****Jacobabad is the third largest airport in the country in terms of area. The Jacobabad airport is one of the few airports in Pakistan that can be used jointly for military and commercial flight operations. Also known as PAF Shahbaz, the facility is a Forward Operational Base (FOB) which would become fully operational during wartime. **
Shamsi is not a big deal for US, not using Shamsi will be of little inconvenience for Americans...But.. what is Pakistan going to do if US does not leave Shamsi airbase?? What is the action plan in that scenario??
Would you allow them to use Shamsi, if Americans apologize... just like you are ready to open NATO routes, if American apologize?
The problem is that the known bases given to the Americans are shamsi, shahbaz and pasni. The government would know what they have to do, it wouldn't help if drones are just shifted from shamsi to pasni or shahbaz.
^ you guys should go and solve your naxal problems before poking your nose into pakistani affairs...
The suicidal tendencies, both literally and figuratively, of Pakistanis as a nation is enough that others do not need to poke their noses into Pakistan's affairs. They can sit back, relax, and watch the tamasha. Pakistan, after all, is a gift that keeps giving..
