Pakistani leadership cannot afford to take a stand with US and should not . Pakistani leadership has to maintain a delicate balance in keeping its masses in check and maintain a relationship with US. US is that fly in Pakistani soup which they have to swallow . Pakistan cannot afford to make a super power its enemy for a mistake which can be made by any army of the world. A few years ago in this same war US forces killed Canadian troops by mistake. Mistakes do happen in a war. In Kosovo or somewhere a few years ago , US fired rockets on Chinese embassy by mistake , did China and US went on war on that issue ? No.
Pakistan and US are fighting the same war and mistakes do happen in such a complicated war. What do you think , US can afford to take panga with Pakistan and launch such a horrible attack on purpose ?
Those check posts were US's first line of defense in Pakistani territory why would they destroy it on purpose ?
Only if they were smoking the same thing as some of the posters who are calling for takeover of US embassies by masses. Thanda thanda kh-o bhai-o aur bhan-o sasti jazbatiat sirf siasat danoon ko hee zaib daitee hay.
You have to wait till the investigation is over as to what went wrong , why and how.
Like last year two Pakistani solders were killed and it was found that the fired warning shots , but US helicopters mistook it as an attack. 300 feet of distance from Afghan border is not enough distance for a chopper to determine where their boundary ends and the other one starts. They might have come very near to the check posts and personnel from check post started firing at them and all the mess started. Who know what really happened unless a thorough and proper investigation is over.
no wonder we love to believe whatever gora says
what investigation??? do you know the checkposts were 2.5 KM inside the pakistani border? and do you know both posts were almost 1 KM appart from each other? and do you know the attach continued for more than 1 hour (some news say 2 hours) and do you know ISPR clearly said they "pleaded" NATO command to stop the attack and conveyed them that its Pakistna Army they are bombing, just in case if it was a mistake, but it continued, and do you know there were probably 2 helicopters and 2 A-10 fighter aircrafts involved? and do you know these check posts are not some like a remote post which will be difficult to identify, they were well built and well recognized posts with proper flag and markings, GPS coordinates/ map-references were shared with NATO several times to avoid any miss-understanding. If investigation is to be done, it should be to find out who ordered the attack, and who down played the request to stop (that's humiliating to even say this now, we should have retaliated, not requested to stop) the investigation if any, should clearly name the responsible and nothing less than a court martial should be accepted.
As for Shamsi Airbase, its not enough at all Pakistan needs to deny then its airspace, regular american/nato flights from their aircraft career in the arabian sea to the bases in Afghanistan use the length of Pakistan's airspace that needs to stop, only vacating shamsi base is not enough, but its important anyway.

From what you are saying and I am reading , US was testing the waters as to what will happen if they invade Pakistan and how strong Pakistan Army is to deal with it. What do you say about that ?
The raid lasted one/two hours , Pakistan has a perfectly good Air Force base nearby , where were Pakistani fighter jets , anti aircraft guns and surface to air missiles ?
Pakistani commanders was making phone calls instead of taking practical steps ? Why ?
Does anybody has answer to these questions ?
What if Israel , India , or US attacks Pakistan’s nuclear assets , will Pakistani commanders will still be calling the attackers to stop the raid ? Very confusing situation here.
If there are no satisfactory answers to these questions then I will call this as friendly fire/mistake not an attack.
pakistan doesn't have a well established air defence on western border (as far as i know).....because they never expected air attacks from that side........

Budbair and Peshawar is only a few minutes flight away from that border.
Unless people of pakistan march them self to samshi airbase and take over/encroach, its going to stay for foreigners to use.
Not stop acting like monkey dancing on the dug-dugi
I was hearing on news that americans have said, they have not received any communication regarding eviction from shamsi base and that Pakistan had made similar threats before but did not follow through.

As far as your post regarding why Pakistan Airforce did not respond here is what DGMO said "**About Pakistan Air Force response, he said the situation was not clear till morning so considering on ground situation which was not clear, the PAF was not asked to respond."
**Hmm I'll have to get used to this edit thingie...

Stay tuned!
Wait two weeks and then comment. We'll see if they vacate the Shamsi Airbase or not!
Until then at the very least you can do is show some solidarity with Pakistan if you by any chance are from there...

If situation was not clear till morning that also points out to a broken system. Any excuse can be given for inefficiency, but should I accept it ?
If you were PM after such humiliation, would you still make your people fool ? like PPP
OR
would you atleaset kick amreekan out from military places.
I am afarid PM does not have the power to kick a rangroot out of an army mess, how would he kick the americans out. Lets be realistic, PM only takes the line given by the military.
