Re: Shamsi Airbase
According to latest reports, Pakistan has rejected UAE's request to keep Shamsi Airbase open.
Great! As I said, make it really hurt this time. The state terrorists of the world, must learn few new things, one of which is to know that not every country is Afghanistan, Iraq or Libya!
Re: Shamsi Airbase
Char din key chandni phir andhairee raat ho gee.
Pakistani leadership cannot afford to take a stand with US and should not . Pakistani leadership has to maintain a delicate balance in keeping its masses in check and maintain a relationship with US. US is that fly in Pakistani soup which they have to swallow . Pakistan cannot afford to make a super power its enemy for a mistake which can be made by any army of the world. A few years ago in this same war US forces killed Canadian troops by mistake. Mistakes do happen in a war. In Kosovo or somewhere a few years ago , US fired rockets on Chinese embassy by mistake , did China and US went on war on that issue ? No.
Pakistan and US are fighting the same war and mistakes do happen in such a complicated war. What do you think , US can afford to take panga with Pakistan and launch such a horrible attack on purpose ?
Those check posts were US's first line of defense in Pakistani territory why would they destroy it on purpose ?
Only if they were smoking the same thing as some of the posters who are calling for takeover of US embassies by masses. Thanda thanda kh-o bhai-o aur bhan-o sasti jazbatiat sirf siasat danoon ko hee zaib daitee hay.

The attack was not "mistake", if you read news articles, the attack carried on for 2-hours... local Pakistani commanders requested them to stop but they did not. So this was not a "mistake", it was deliberate attack.
Re: Shamsi Airbase
It is quite crazy to think the US will wantonly go bomb Pak military. Wait till the investigation is finished and facts emerge.
Serious and sad as what happened is, if Pakistani government takes precipitous steps in its haste to feed populists, consequences will be even worse. Not just the aid but the terrorists waiting for the departure of the USA from the region can take the country back several decades

You have to wait till the investigation is over as to what went wrong , why and how.
Like last year two Pakistani solders were killed and it was found that the fired warning shots , but US helicopters mistook it as an attack. 300 feet of distance from Afghan border is not enough distance for a chopper to determine where their boundary ends and the other one starts. They might have come very near to the check posts and personnel from check post started firing at them and all the mess started. Who know what really happened unless a thorough and proper investigation is over.
Re: Shamsi Airbase
^ and whose investigation would you believe??
Re: Shamsi Airbase
and US presence in the region has done wonders for Pakistan?
really?
Re: Shamsi Airbase
I hope it is going to be a joint investigation .
Re: Shamsi Airbase
I hope it is going to be a joint investigation .
and how do u think that will happen??
pakistani army said that it was a pre-meditated attack?? how can there be a joint investigation when one side has already stated a position so clearly??

There are articles posted in this thread which state that Pakistani posts were 2.5 kms inside the Pak afghan border. The Americans would have crossed over into Pakistani border, and then our forces would have shot warning shots. When the Americans starts attacking the local commanders pleaded with the Americans to stop but the attacks continued for 2 hours. There might be some reason that the army spokesman has refused to accept the apology from NATO.
Re: Shamsi Airbase
The time has come when Pakistan needs to assert its sovereignty and for that they need to do the following things:
1) close shamsi airbase
2) ban drone attacks and American use of Pakistani airspace
3) permanently close the NATO supply
4) warn the Americans and advice the army to take care of any aircraft which violates our western borders
5) kick out American spies from the country
Re: Shamsi Airbase
When is the government summoning "All Pakistani Parties Conference" or whatever it was to deliberate on this so very important issue and present a united front to the world? Of course, that might not be very advisable because the Baluch nationalist parties will likely boycott such a conference, which will be embarrassing to say the least... I heard the Baluch are also staunchly secular. Perhaps another South Sudan is in the making. :)
