**Wearing shalwar kameez without a dupatta ?!
I’ve seen a lot of girls doing it like that.
What do you think of that ?
Personally, I don’t like this idea at all, I’d rather wear a T and jeans instead of killing the traditional attire.
And Yea I’m not talkin abt sleveless kameez and trousers, but the “typical shalwar kameez”
**
islamically a rupatta is a must but other than that i don't see anything wrong with not wearing a rupatta...yes, u r right shalwar/qameez goes with rupatta...not wearing a rupatta with shalwar / qameez is like a man wearing a suit without a tie :D
When I'm at home.....I don't wear a dupatta with shalwar kameez.
My nana used to tell his my mom and his other daughters that it's not such a big deal if you don't wear the dupatta at home.......as it's usually the first thing that falls down when you have to bend and do chores, etc. And yeah....I agree with Rizla (but for different reasons...as the latter is just being a perv :p) that it can sometimes get in your way.
Uh, it's a dupatta not a rupatta.
rupaTTaa is the Hindi version of do-paTTaa [two part covering which has two ends] so, i used rupaTTaa as a Hindi word which i'm used to more than do-patta [daal, vaao-pe, Te [tashdeed], alif] btw, it does NOT start with Harf "DAAL" as in Dole, Dhol...ok?

haha..same here. I never wear a dupatta with my shalwar kameez at home. It's more comfortable this way.
I remember going to Pakistan and being scolded by my mother for going outside the home in shalwar kameez without a dupatta. :/ Before that, I never knew it was such a big deal.
Anyways, I think if you're wearing shalwar kameez when you go out you should wear a dupatta with it. It completes the outfit :D
frock or A-line style ,slight fitted shirts with trousers look cool without dupatta. i like them with light scarves, stylish open sweaters, cardigans or blazers. only with tight fitted, pleated shirts dupatta becomes necessary also if u hav heavy breast or beer belly then better wear dupatta. i hav stopped wearing dupatta with shalwar kameez. also i ask tailors to keep my dupatta short like a scarf not too big n heavy. since i use hijab i don't like dupattas hanging by my side. instead i use some light jacket or cardigan when i go out.
I tend to not bother with it but I don't wear tight fitting or low-cut shalwar khameez anyway.. can't get used to having a spare piece of fabric flapping around..
'Back home' I normally just wear jeans with a kurti/tunic top..
Islamically speaking in Faris terms going out without Dupata for a woman is like a soldier going into battle without a helmet… it’s suicide.
Even as a Man I would not like to leave the house without at least a decent Shemargh or Kafeeya scarf around my neck that can double up as a usefull Turban,Veil, Headband, Necktie, bandage, glove… improvised whip or chocking device.
Every time I see a girl covered nicely in dupatta I have a heart full of respect...I grew up seeing my sisters and mother wearing dupatta in all times and I'm so use to see a female in this particular attire that a girl without dupatta is something I would not like to imagine...
