Yea it's a bit awkward BUT this thread was meant to have mixed views. It was addressed to both girls and guys.
I was replying to KKF:
Ah K.
Re: Shalwar Kameez WITHOUT dupatta
I always wear dupatta with shalwar qamiz but now since frocks and A line shirts in fashion I dont wear dupatta with them, they look so good like someone said before just wear cardigan over it.

Re: Shalwar Kameez WITHOUT dupatta
I will say when I first landed in Karachi (my first trip to pak in general) I was in jeans and a tee shirt. My uncle and Aunt picked us up because I had 2 days to buy clothing and leave for a wedding in lahore. We were walking around and the azan went off. Imagine how shameful I felt that the Azan is going off and I'm the only girl on the street that didn't have a scarf to cover my head with. The thought didn't even cross my mind. My cousins told me it's okay that karachi is a very liberal hip city and I was like umm no can I share a scarf with one of yall and can we just stop walking for a bit.
Given that an Azan will always be going off as one maneuvers back home I think a dupatta ought to be mandatory for any well raised woman. I'll say that the rest of my two weeks in pakistan didn't go by without me keeping a thin dupatta in my purse.
Re: Shalwar Kameez WITHOUT dupatta
*Shalwar kameez are incomplete without the DUPATTA! *
I would never wear shalwar kameezes without the dupatta, And it doesnt even look nice without the dupatta!

for your info, dopatta is NOT just for azaan time...do-patta is required to be worn correctly [covering ur head and the chest and the arms] whenever u r infront of naa-maHram...if u feel guilty at azaan time, u must feel guilty at ALL times. i'm sorry but thats what is islamically required. if one doesn't do that then its like committing sin. it was just a friendly reminder and a correction.

Re: Shalwar Kameez WITHOUT dupatta
I don't think it's mandatory to cover your hair while the azaan is taking place. I don't always do it.
I've noticed that the hijab that sometimes women wear....does not always reach the chest area. So that area (the chest)...the booty...the arms...are concealed by other articles of clothing that are loose, so that the shape is not defined. That said.......you don't necessarily need a dupatta to cover those areas around a non-mahram. It can also be managed by wearing loose clothing...or even an abaya if one chooses.
Re: Shalwar Kameez WITHOUT dupatta
There is a cool new type of shalwar kameez common in Pakistan nowadays, I don’t know what that dress is called. I have seen most girls wear it without a dupatta and it looks so good ![]()
Re: Shalwar Kameez WITHOUT dupatta
Why don’t you start wearing dupatta…![]()

Thanks for the education but i'm fully aware of what Islam says regarding women covering their hair and body. This comment was really not needed but I guess you are doing your duty so I'll thank you for attempting to shame me into wearing hijab and being more conservative dressing wise.
Re: Shalwar Kameez WITHOUT dupatta
**Wearing shalwar kameez without a dupatta ?! I've seen a lot of girls doing it like that. What do you think of that ?
Personally, I don't like this idea at all, I'd rather wear a T and jeans instead of killing the traditional attire. And Yea I'm not talkin abt sleveless kameez and trousers, but the "typical shalwar kameez" **
hmmm i find it awkward if i see a woman/girl in shalwar kameez but without dupatta...but i only find it awkward with simple shalwar kameez.
i have seen ladies who wear sherwani type kameezain or those big kaaftans types or similiar kameezain yet they dont wear duppattas with these and it looks fine to me.
Re: Shalwar Kameez WITHOUT dupatta
Almost, but it looks a bit formal and colorless. BTW, what is it called?
