i dont belieev in shakin hands with male but alot of people who find out this think im over the top.but i really believe in this coz even if i get touched by a male who is not lawful to me by mistake i feel bad.sooo iam i the only person who thinks like that or anyone else agree wid me.
another think wen a man puts his hand forward to shake wid u how do u tell him politly i dont wanna shake hands
Re: shakin hands
try spittin in ur own hand and put it forward gladly?
Well thats how they used to do deal in the old old days.
Re: shakin hands
if you feel bad for touching a man by mistake you have bigger problems than the how do I get out of a handshake prob.
Re: shakin hands
Seriously: If its business / corporate (and in west with non-desi people) you should make exception.
If its desi (regardless in biz world), then just say, "I am sorry, I cannot shake hands with you. I hope you understand". Let him think whatever, if he is half the gentleman he will understand.
Re: shakin hands
Now lets try puts his hand out to shake
Re: shakin hands
I concur. I do understand how she feels though. Its culture and religion that has taught her to feel like that. No matter, we must respect her choices - if she doesn't want to shakes hand - she doesn't have to!
(we will just hug her)...

PrinceMS
this is a medical disorder and she needs to visit a doctor
(in my opinion)
Re: shakin hands
my dear young lady...i present before you a case scenario...
my nephew is extremely shy and doesnt talk to people outside the family at all. if you were me what wud u do? wud u let him continue on just like tht or wud u find ways for him to overcome this hesitancy to talk?
The problem that you have of reluctance to shake hands is similar.
in todays day and age, you HAVE to accept the basic norms of society we live in. when you say something like..."i cant shake hands, i hope you understand" to someone it just repulses the other person completely. there will be someone who might actually understand but even they will be repulsed(mentally atleast). the very first and the obvious conclusion a person will reach when you say something like that would be that you are insecure and very low on self esteem(no matter what the reality be)
to put the pieces together...You have GOT to overcome this cos it just is not OK to carry on with this.

but i have to carry on like this the ppl around me dont liv my life i need to liv it .an this is probably the only rule of my religion that i foloow properly
Re: shakin hands
you walk around and someone touches you BY MISTAKE ( your words not mine)
how My Dear, does that translate into what your religion has taught you
perhaps it would be more truthful to suggest that its what your culture, parental units or peers have taught you
if things like that make you "feel bad" I wonder how you will cope with all the other problems life will throw at you
