Shahid Afridi's Latest Interview / Zardari 'snub'

Shahid Afridi said last night in Pakistan Tonight, a TV Program:

  • I will be meeting President Zardari for a relief activity in favour of flood-victims arranged by our Sports Minister

  • I am ready to play under any Captain

  • Aamir did right by confessing but his deicison came late. Salman Butt and Asif should also confess if they are guilty.

  • Aamir Sohail advised Afridi not to go after captaincy and Afridi was agreed with Aamir Sohail

Hope he comes back soon :jhanda:

re: Shahid Afridi's Latest Interview / Zardari 'snub'

Wonder why he or anyone needs to meet president for relief activities in favor of flood-victim?

Wonder why every captain who retires in fury comes back with the statement saying he is ready to play under any captain, Shoaib, Younis and Yousaf are few to quote

re: Shahid Afridi's Latest Interview / Zardari 'snub'

as long as he comes back, im fine with it lol

re: Shahid Afridi's Latest Interview / Zardari 'snub'

It has barely been few months when according to Afridi " Amir Sohail aik ghatya insaan hain"

And now he is dying to get back Into the team and all of a sudden he is agreeing with ghatya insaan and showing respect to his advice.

re: Shahid Afridi's Latest Interview / Zardari 'snub'

^ True that

re: Shahid Afridi's Latest Interview / Zardari 'snub'

May be he has seen that team have done well without him and there are chances that kinds of Razzaq would be called for the difficult tour of Srilanka and England which if Pakistan draws or played well would close the door of international cricket for him...

re: Shahid Afridi's Latest Interview / Zardari 'snub'

and if he wouldnt gave him respect u shud have said that Kitna bat tameez hai yeh :D

re: Shahid Afridi's Latest Interview / Zardari 'snub'

what a loser Afridi is! Next time you retire Afridi Bhai stay retired. Stop making a mockery of yourself! We all love you but you should take deep breaths instead of calling press conference every two months.

re: Shahid Afridi's Latest Interview / Zardari 'snub'

^^ his decision to retire was a very well planned move, I completely disagree with people who thinks he makes these decisions out of emotions, I think he is very crooked and really plans out these move$. He announced retirement with the knowledge that there is

-- Contract with T20 league in $L in summer.
-- Hamp$hire T20 contract.
-- Small contract$ in Eng such as Cage Cricket etc etc (UK guppies please correct me, I heard about something like those in start of this summer).
-- If Hamphsire wins or makes it to Final than he gets to go to play champion$ League.
-- Big Ba$h League in Aus later this year.

Also the possibility that while in retirement he would have created enough noise in media againt the coach that if coach decides to leave or gets let go by the PCB, Afridi wouldnt have to face him when he comes out of his retirement and will be willing to play under any other captain on the demand of cricket lovers and to serve the country...Offcourse after pocketing $$ from above contract$.

re: Shahid Afridi's Latest Interview / Zardari 'snub'

Very plausible

Aside from his brainless batting (although I would still not rubbish him completely as a limited overs player atleast), Afridi is not as masoom or doodh ka dhula as many of his fans (and there are even more crazy fans on some other forums :D) make him out to be

Afridi fails in attempt to meet the President

KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari met a delegation of 30 athletes who called on him to discuss the flood situation in Sindh, Geo News reported.

Javed Miandad and other well known athletes were the part of this meeting.

Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Ijaz Butt was also present there.

Prior to the meeting it was reported that the former cricket captain Shahid Afridi would hold a separate meeting with the president but that was not the case. According to sources there was no development pertaining to Afridi’s return to international cricket.

*Bade Be-Aabru Hokar Tere Kooche Se Hum Nikle…

**Zardari’s snub to Afridi
**
Karachi: The PCB chairman Ijaz Butt won a crucial round of politics on Tuesday against two former captains, Shahid Afridi and Javed Miandad, when a meeting with President Asif Zardari that was supposed to pave the way for Afridi’s return to Pakistan team ended without any discussion on the subject.

An apparently disappointed Afridi left the Bilawal House without speaking to the media after the meeting that the President had with various sportspersons, including Ijaz Butt, Afridi, Miandad and another former captain Moin Khan.

An advisor on sports in the Sindh province Haleem Adil Sheikh and majority of the news channels said that the President, who is also the chief patron of the PCB, had also granted Afridi some time to discuss his problems with the board, specifically Ijaz Butt.

It was earlier assumed that in the meeting the President would ask Afridi to take back his retirement decision and the senior player would oblige and make his return to the national team.

Unfortunately for Afridi and his supporters, nothing transpired at the meeting that was beneficial for the former captain as according to the sources, the President solely concentrated on how the sports fraternity can help the government in raising funds for the flood victims in Sindh.

**“During the meeting, Haleem Adil did try to bring up the issue of Afridi having some complaints against Butt and the board but President Zardari just smiled and ignored his comment,” **one eye-witness told PTI.

"Even information minister Firdous Ashiq Awan tried to bring up Afridi’s issue but the President ignored her also and kept on talking about charity matches for the flood victims.

“After the group meeting, the President left without speaking to anyone individually, including Afridi,” the eye-witness added.

Afridi, in recent past, has repeatedly said that he is keen to play for Pakistan again and there is pressure growing on him from his fans and supporters to make himself available for the national team.

Appearing on a television channel before the meeting when asked if he would take back his retirement decision if told to do so by the President, Afridi made it clear that he himself wanted to play for Pakistan again but would do so only if he would not have to compromise with his self-respect.

Afridi announced his retirement in protest after he was removed as captain by Butt after the West Indies tour in May this year.

But after having gone to court against the board, Afridi had to withdraw his case and face disciplinary proceedings before he was fined Rs. 4.5 million by the board for breaching the code of conduct. Thereafter, the board granted him the NOC to go and play in England.

The eyewitness said that no discussion was held on Miandad’s complaints against Butt.

“If anything, it appears as if the President plans to give Butt an extension as Chairman of the board when his term expires next month. One can safely say that the President appears to have full confidence in Butt’s ability to manage cricket affairs,” he said. :smack:

Miandad was later asked by the media if he had discussed with the President his problems with Butt but the former captain insisted that all problems would be resolved with time. http://cricketnext.in.com/news/afridis-meeting-with-pak-president-futile/60219-13.html

re: Shahid Afridi's Latest Interview / Zardari 'snub'

Butt sahab is behnoiee (or sala) of Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar who is a strong political leader (in PPP and in his area). Who will give Zardari better mileage Butt or Afridi/Miandad ?

re: Shahid Afridi's Latest Interview / Zardari 'snub'

I think Afridi should have tried to bribe Zardari

"You back me against Ijaz Butt and I promise to join your party! Forget my brainless slogging, Sir, you have no idea how many brainless fans (pun intended) I have all over the country ... Karachi sey MNA kee seat samjho pakki!!

[QUOTE]
A dejected Afridi then proceeded to shun his fans after exiting the function held at Bilawal House. Sources claim to have spotted a clearly disgruntled Afridi kicking a Pakola can, then shouting angrily at a young fan who got too close, having reportedly said 'Get lost, I am not in the mood right now.'

We will have an exclusive full length and in-depth interview with the young fanatic, followed by an 8 hour Bolain Kya Baat Hai special program with host Mirza Iqbal Baig and special guests Aamir Sohail, Abdul Qadir and Sarfraz Nawaz.
