KARACHI: Pakistan flamboyant all-rounder Shahid Afridi has finally broken his silence over his critics and lashed out, indirectly, at Salman Butt, who had criticized Afridi various times over bad form during ICC World Twenty20 2012 in Sri Lanka. How could those who sold the name of country criticize me, Afridi said without mentioning name of anyone.
Butt was giving his services as Cricket-pundit to a private news Channel during recent World T20 where number of times he was found critic of his former captain Shahid Afridi. Butt even had questioned Afridi’s batting technique when he was out on duck in Semi Final.
Shahid Afridi, during his presser at Karachi, also asked TV Channels to suss out character of players before hiring them as experts.
Talking about his performance and retirement, 32-year all-rounder Shahid Afridi said he will announce his retirement the day he feels himself burden on Pakistan team. He further added that the people who have been critic of his recent performances must check his records for last three or four years. Afridi admitted that he experienced a difficult time as a Cricketer due to his bad perform during World T20 in Sri Lanka and was unable to perform.
Shahid Afridi will be captaining Pakistan Stars XI tomorrow in Karachi against International XI in bid to revive cricket in Pakistan.

Salman Butt should be ashamed of himself, he has no right to criticise anyone and shame on the TV station which hires chawals and thrid class juey baaz like him as experts.

I disagree...you are mixing too different topics...slaman butt is not commenting on afridi's character or doing a character assassination of lala for you to brush him off based on his own character .... butt is commenting on lala's ability and utility as a player and butt has played enough cricket to make a judgement....which channel hired him, why did they hire him...he is a jawari suttay baaz ....all these questions belong to a a different debate, as i see it...just because someone is a crimial does not mean he cannot open his mouth on any topic...this is not how society works or should work...
so do you agree with Butt's judgement on this topic or not? that is what the main question is...has time arrived for laala to retire and shd he be dropped from the team...I hope you will share your opinion....

Salman Butt commenting on Afridi's performance is like a skanky prostitute complaining about a nun. There might be some logic in Butt's advice but it is irrelevant like Afridi correctly points out.
Dont get me wrong Afridi is a dim wit - but unlike butt will not in the business of selling his mother.

SSalman Butt has paid his dues. He is entitled to make a living. That is part of ones rehabilitation process. Some may disagree with his views as a commentator. Afridi was out of line to bring up the character issue. Be a professional and take your lumps.

Real shame that hatred for afrid leads you to agree with a joee baaz and one has done untold damage to pak cricket. I am not a fan of afridi but compared to Salman he is miles better. My whole point is that he should not be allowed as a commentator or cricket expert, there are plenty of other people available. He should be left to spend his time with is sattay baaz masters. I am sure you will agree with that despite your dislike of afridi.

Despite being a fan of Shahid Afridi I agree with phoenixdesi on principle here that Salman Butt does have the right to give comments on cricket related issues. At the same time I think people should keep in mind that Butt's remarks might be biased as Afridi's hatred would cloud his judgement.
But surprising Ehsan bhai, and many others are kind of adovocating the point that Butt has no right to judge someones cricketing abilities. Well we had players in the past also involved in match fixing. Our own justise system said Wasim Akram should never hold any post of responsibility within the cricket team. Fines were placed on many of the leading cricketers including Inzimam, Waqar, Wasim, Mushtaq etc but we have no problems when some of these people are hired as coaches or consultants or when they give their opinon about others. Now granted Mr. Butt is not in the same league as most of these players but he has indeed played enough cricket to give his opinion about crickte & cricketers. He has served his criminal sentence, he is serving his ban. So he is paying for his wrong doings. IMO he has the right to find employment and give opinions about cricket related stuff. His wrong doings does not and should not mean the end of life for him. We cant wait for Mohammad Amir to get back in the team, who is convicted of the same offence so why cant we can tolerant enough to listen to someone who is also serving his punishement.

sir jee you are making an assumption that my hatred for afridi has forced me to take this position....... lets not get emotional here.... you may have a point had i advocated slaman to be a in a position where he could influence Pakistani cricket or youngsters...such as playing for pakistan again...becoming coach of under-20 etc.....

I disagree with Phoenix on one issue - once has paid his debt to Society, all positions should be open to him. And not to point fingers at one nation - tax evasion in South Asian countries is probably the most rampant practice, especially among business people. Once ALL of them are punished and then barred from engaging in business maybe we can think of barring Mr. Butt and others.

I like Afridis style and game when he is on. But I also believe in second chances once the perpetrator has been punished.
I only believe second chances for those who atleast accepted their mistakes and said sorry to the nation like Amir
Unlike Butt he still doesnt accept his mistake and says I didnt did anything Im not guilty at all
