I only believe second chances for those who atleast accepted their mistakes and said sorry to the nation like Amir Unlike Butt he still doesnt accept his mistake and says I didnt did anything Im not guilty at all

agreed it should stay with Salman's profession which is sattay baazi and that what he should be doing, not commenting on cricket, after all during his playing days the opposition guys standing in the slips were more happy than Pak fans.

One thing if not any other is clear, that, Salman Butt criticized Afridi because he knew that Afridi would react and this will help him get the much needed attention he was looking for all along. Misery loves company as the old proverb goes. Afridi testified against Salman Butt and Asif behind closed doors along with other team management. Salman would hate Waqar younis just as much, but Afridi is the only one playing in the XI and still benefiting while he, salman, is not!
Afridi if you were smart, which is a huge thing to ask from you, then this statement would serve you more than anything when it comes to Butt's comment. You should say "Those who accuse me and others like them can wait until their errors are rectified and their records are cleansed, until then I will play to my hearts desire & until the day that the PCB stop selecting me for national duty. For I don't need to wait for my record to be cleansed or my sins to be rectified. I know I am out of form and don't bat as good as I used to. But after every hardship there is ease. So I am also still hopeful for a good string of form"

SSalman Butt has paid his dues. He is entitled to make a living. That is part of ones rehabilitation process. Some may disagree with his views as a commentator. Afridi was out of line to bring up the character issue. Be a professional and take your lumps.
What rehabilitation? He STILL maintains blatantly that I did not do any spot fixing. Poori qaum ko chay samajh ker rakha hai. Ill tell you who is actually doing something about rehabilitation. Its Mohammad Aamir. He apologized to the nation, participated in rehabilitation program and anti corruption videos.

Despite being a fan of Shahid Afridi I agree with phoenixdesi on principle here that Salman Butt does have the right to give comments on cricket related issues. At the same time I think people should keep in mind that Butt's remarks might be biased as Afridi's hatred would cloud his judgement.
But surprising Ehsan bhai, and many others are kind of adovocating the point that Butt has no right to judge someones cricketing abilities. Well we had players in the past also involved in match fixing. Our own justise system said Wasim Akram should never hold any post of responsibility within the cricket team. Fines were placed on many of the leading cricketers including Inzimam, Waqar, Wasim, Mushtaq etc but we have no problems when some of these people are hired as coaches or consultants or when they give their opinon about others. Now granted Mr. Butt is not in the same league as most of these players but he has indeed played enough cricket to give his opinion about crickte & cricketers. He has served his criminal sentence, he is serving his ban. So he is paying for his wrong doings. IMO he has the right to find employment and give opinions about cricket related stuff. His wrong doings does not and should not mean the end of life for him. We cant wait for Mohammad Amir to get back in the team, who is convicted of the same offence so why cant we can tolerant enough to listen to someone who is also serving his punishement.
Yes Salman butt has right to give cricketing opinion but did you watch those shows? His hatred for Afridi (because Afridi and waqar testified against him) took the better of his so called cricketing opinion.

I agree. Waleed pointed that out earlier. I was not aware of Salmans not acknowledging his mistakes. That can be quite infuriating to fans of the game.
Question is - was the criticism fair? If yes, was Afridi using Salmans history to avoid rightful criticism?
PS JUST READ your post 28. Looks like some personal animosity is present between the two. If Salman is using this to target Afridi that is uncalled for. Plot is far more complex than i realized :)

I think most here know I'm not a big fan of Afridi :D
But I'm with him on this one. Who the Funk is Butt to say anything about anyone. I'm mad about him having any voice in the media at all. Pak cricket and media should totally shun him.
Regarding Afridi's retirement, it's about 10 years overdue.
