great job afridi ... we shd appreciate all good things done by him... plus i have to admit there is no one in subcontinent that comes close to charisma and hero-ship than afridi...full of flair, style, arrogance, stupidity, energy and by far best looks...khan may dum to ha...the only problem is his utter stupidity which sometimes crosses limits..compare him to players like gambhir who looks like " a burnt pakora" and you will get perspective...now please dont make my post another india-pak bashing match.....i have always admired string points of indian cricket but it is also a fact that they have never really produced charismatic players like imran khan, wasim akram, shoaib akhtar or afridi....greats like tendulkar are also so dull...

yaar nikame ... you have actually hit the nail on head and solved so many mysteries....those un-explainable statements of him about indians "with small hearts" now make sense in view of his political ambitions .... and yes gambhir plays with 200% intensity which I cannot say this for lala..he always has some agenda...and that itself is a big curse for lala....that his countrymen dont trust him 100%
but my comments were purely from stardom standpoint...gambhir cannot pull the crowd for 1000 year the same way lala can....let me put this way..if both lala and gambhir walk into a Bollywood party, you can imagine who will be pulling all the stars....that is all I was saying!!! and for that matter, dravid, tendulkar, kumble, veru, laxman ... all of them were boring and dull when compared to wasim akram, imran khan, shoaib akhtar, afridi etc.....there is a difference between a "great player on the filed" and "stardom"...indian players have never produced stardom-laden stars..even kapil dev was very dull...forget gavaskar, shastri, vengsarkar... all of them were completely "boring"......situation stated to change after ganguly took over...yuraj is definitely a star...kohli may become one because he has potential...

By far the most charismatic player was Mansur Ali Khan of Pataudi. He had a presence no one could match. Salim Durrani could pull crowds. So could Farookh Engineer.

I would say Dhoni is the most charismatic player from the subcontinent atm, and at the same time he plays with honour intensity and uses his brain!

yes patudi was for sure a class act…i forgot dhoni…he is also crowd puller and a star…
but i was not going as far as 60s…fazal mahmood was definitively one of the most good looking cricketers from sub-Continent ever…he was a very good friend of dilip kumar and dilip actually offered him to work in indian movies but fazal decided to move to pakistan and play cricket for Pakistan…he actually challenged dilip (in a friendly tone) that I will be more famous than you very soon… very soon, fazal took 12 wickets in oval and dilip acknowledged that fazal has beaten him in terms of fame..
