I was just watching GEO and they said Shahbaz SHarif will be appointed as the Chief Minister of Punjab. But he never contested in any polls or were there any post polls for the PA?
I mean if he didn’t contest in any post polls then isn’t this unconstitutional?
Re: Shahbaz Sharif...
they will make a member resign then he will participate in election from that constituency.
Re: Shahbaz Sharif...
^ he doesn't have to. Usually in Pakistan during general elections, there are always some murders and natural deaths of candidates that leaves holes open for party leaders to get elected.
I hope there will be some safe seat open for him.
Re: Shahbaz Sharif...
Yep, and that's what you're going to get with "democracy" in Pakistan. Unless the judiciary starts taking serious action against these things, which the likes of the oh-so-praised-lets-feel-sorry-for-him Chief Chustice will NEVER do, these things will continue to happen in the name of democracy. What kills me is how Pakistanis were so anti-Musharraf, and yet no one cares if Shahbaz will become Chief Minister of Punjab
Re: Shahbaz Sharif...
wahaha so much for "democracy"... get ready to see some BIG TIME corruption (zardari), nepotism (sharif) and molesting (gilani).
Re: Shahbaz Sharif...
^ dudes/dudette lets wait until it really comes to that point don't jump up and down just yet, nobody can become "CM" without getting in assembly. Many times one politician gets elected from more than one seat then later on there are by-elections, I don't know if that happened in these elections too.
Re: Shahbaz Sharif...
Actually its called a by-election and it is common in Parliamentary systems of government. It is a usual method by which people are elected in the UK and France. So its not anything new. The difference is however, that it only happens if someone resigns or dies or some scandal occurs.
People do not resign for their political leaders in the west, though ironically this practice is common in India and Indonesia.
Re: Shahbaz Sharif...
Where were these jumping dudes/dudettes when shaukat aziz became PM using same methodology...
or it is used by mushy so it was halal
Re: Shahbaz Sharif...
^ Shaukat Aziz is...was...a hell of a lot more palatable than shabaz. Also, he isnt mushy's bro.
Re: Shahbaz Sharif...
So Pakap screw the principle if the person fits your personal "I like this guy" list? Wow. We should really run Pakistani politics on this principle. Thank you for this. It is truly ground-breaking.

Where is Shaukat Aziz now? Gone with the wind.

Re: Shahbaz Sharif...
By the way, the original poster is one of the opponents of Mushy & Co on GS.
Re: Shahbaz Sharif...
just simple question, is it democracy that some one is appointed CM without having been elected? ok on the basis that he will get elected ??? so it is assumed that he is going win anyway.
I guess N league getting good deal out of PPP, they got all the important ministries and Punjab govt too, so Ganja bros may well be out of their age old iron furnaces and right into "pancho ghee mein and sar karahi mein"
when thugs like Zaradari start contorolling Pakistan with assistance from gangsters like Shahbaz shareef! fate is written all over, we just need to wait and see it actuallised. they leave far behind the previous thugs ie "Chaudharies of Gujrat".
Godfather style democarcy is in action, embrace it!

Shahbaz Sharif was perhaps the most competent Chief Minister of Punjab. During his tenure Punjab underwent lots of development. Thats why he is appointed as the CM again. He is strict administrator and dynamic person.
Re: Shahbaz Sharif...
^^ I agree, his gangster like approach work for quick development projects. not PUNJAB but only LAHORE specific parts!
but on the same approach when applied to solve crime situation, like blind fake Police encounters on daily basis though scare criminals but many innocent people do get die and dont get any trials whats so ever.
but corruption and job for money was also all time high during his tenure.

If you are speaking of the process of by-elections then yes it is democratic as it is part of the parliamentary systems of government. You have By-elections in all countries including Europe. The difference is the nature of the elections and its motive. The method is democratic.
