Re: shadi type clothes

U never take fancy Pakistani clothes to a dry cleaner! Never ever. U'll have to spot clean, or hand wash them. Or take them to Pakistan, i duno exactly wot they will do over there, but it'll be better then wot they can do overseas. And wot sort of dry cleaner even agreed to clean ur clothes? Once i took one of my outifts to an American dry cleaners', and the oriental lady told me she wudn't accept it as it was custom made from back home, and had no care instructions in writing with it. She told me it's not worth taking a risk, bcos the beautiful embroidery and beads etc., mite change colour and also the fabric cud be ruined. She did me a favour. I have this problem with some outfits i've worn a few times already, and r heavy...but i'm gona wait 'til i go to Pakistan and do something about it there...otherwise abroad, i guess u have no choice but to try handwashing them...or find out how they do it Pakistan.

Re: shadi type clothes

^They can know…but, won’t the clothes smell like 7UP later?! Isn’t it better to just wash in warm water with a mild soap?

Re: shadi type clothes

I've had embroidered and beaded outfits dry cleaned before, but I get them done by a dry cleaners owned by Pakistanis since they are familiar with the clothes and know how to clean them. I've never had any problems.

Re: shadi type clothes

What are the stains of gulabo? Salan? Icecream?

Re: shadi type clothes

simple.. dont eat whenever u wear those clothes..:D

Re: shadi type clothes

Theoretically sound, but impractical.

The solution to a problem can’t be that you shouldn’t have the problem (although preventative measures can be taken for the future)

Problems are mostly accidental in their very nature.

Re: shadi type clothes

Kashmiriraindrops, you are so right! NEVER take your kaam-walay kapray to the dry cleaners. They are incapable of handling them. In Pakistan, they use petrol to clean fancy clothes (but do not try this at home--it is a surefire way to set your home on fire). Best thing would be to spot clean it will a little mild soap and water. But you'll have to dry it quicklywith an iron, otherwise you risk a water spot on them. You might want to ask American bridal salons or evening gown boutiques if they recommend a dry cleaner. A lot of American gowns have work on them, and gori brides do dry clean their outfits before putting them in storage.

Re: shadi type clothes

it all depends on the material n type of work done.

if it is simply embroidered it can be taken to a dry cleaners .

but if it has alot ofd those beads attached then it needs to be washed at home with surf or any good light detergent ... that do not spoil the material.

Re: shadi type clothes

Dry cleaning does make the clothes lighter. Make sure you give ALL of your suit pieces in to get cleaned, not just the dirty ones.

Re: shadi type clothes

Yup…you should always go to a desi dry cleaner. :k:
