more amazing to me is that the tea time snacks are called sham ka nastha :D .. I think it probably stared from the days/areas when/where people used to take 2-3 hours nap in the afternoon.

Namak Paray

1/3 cup hot water
4 tsp oil/ghee
1 cup plain flour shopping list
salt
1/4 tsp cumin seeds
1/8 tsp baking soda
oil for deep frying

Combine water and oil.
Sift flour.Add salt,baking soda and cumin seeds.
Gradually add water to flour mix.Mix well until it forms a compact ball.
Knead dough until it is smooth and elastic. Set aside for 30 minutes.
Roll the dough on a plain suface and spread it around so that it makes one thin layer.
Slice this layer in 3' x 1/2' rectangles
Fry in deep oil till they turn light brown.

inspiron, for the bhel puri I take ready bought sev mamra (the very thin noodly savouries, and dry puffy rice) and mix it with boiled potatoes diced into small cubes, onion, spring onion, crushed namak parey, and some homemade tamarind sauce. Sometimes a bit of mint sauce too.

Oh we have never had shaam ka nashta at our place. We just have plain tea with nothing sigh

I'll definitely make ghugni (interesting name) and namak paray soon.

well if we feel hungry afterward we have something light, like dahi, fruit etc..

Never heard of either ghughni or ghum’ni :hmmm: we have that kala chana chaat which you called kala channa ghughni. And what’s a nimki?? looks like aloo samosay?

We do have shaam ka nashta but not daily. From cake rusks to simple pappey, samosas, rolls, dahi baray or phulki, namak parey and sliced cake. Anything that goes with tea :slight_smile:
