Sexism

Why are people sexist and believe that somehow they are superior to the other gender?

Is it a lack of akal, education or what that pushes them into this superiority complex state?

Don’t they realize that they have mothers sister female relatives that they’re insulting too with some of their views?

Just a thought.

Re: Sexism

^ Yes and good thought too... Unnessacary sexism is wrong but there are some things obviously women were not meant to do... Likewise it applies for men on some things too.

The way I see it the two sexes can be summed up like the Shalwar Kameez our native dress. Both form one suit and are aft made from the same material and cut by the same darzee but they each serve a separate purpose... you cant wear your shalwar like a kameez and vice versa...

As for superiority niether is superior or inferior in my view both were made to measure. :)

Now when we joke about women drivers and man chefs... we need to treat things with a pinch of salt.

Sure sometimes there can be genralisations and often these can be smashed by an idividual whose special.... but on most things you can simply apply my Shalwar Kameez principle. :D

Re: Sexism

According to some on here just not wanting to be a doormat makes u a ‘feminazi’ and wanting the same amount of respect and a stop to the hypocrisy + double-standards means ur ‘brainwashed’ and/or ‘westernised’..

And to the genius who said in another thread that independent women are also ‘more unhappy’ than those who are dependent on men (lol he wishes): http://www.thebilliondollargirlsclub.com/2010/01/26/economically-independent-women-happier-more-equitable-marriages/

Re: Sexism

Doormat? :konfused:

Oh yeah I get it Door-mat IE walk-over…

Funny thing is back home we call a Doormatt something which you use to flatten a surface with… a bit like a sledgehammer but with a flattened end used to pulverise things like road surfaces :omg: Had me going so you did… :omg:

Re: Sexism

door·mat *

n.***

  1. ** A mat placed before a doorway for wiping the shoes. **
  2. ** Slang **One who submits meekly to domination or mistreatment by others.

Re: Sexism

Thanks for enlightening me :k:

Re: Sexism

itna makhan! j/k

It goes both ways. One more thing though, most of them dont think they're being insulting. It's just that opposing gender may perceive their thoughts as being insulting though.

Re: Sexism

When women don't want to be pampered like a guy has to pay for dinner each time on a "date" (be it in a marriage) or they also get drafted in a time of war, then they can ***** about all sorts of sexism in behavior, culture and literature.

:whistling:

Re: Sexism

Why? Because Islam's been twisted for everyone's convenience in every which way.

If men have the responsibility of providing for their home...it means automatically that a woman SHOULDNT work.

If women cannot refuse their husband's advances...it means automatically that she should be forced in every other situation.

This is not Islam...its what I call Desi-Islam. Unfortunately, most desies believe in this version of it.

Re: Sexism

but thats gay

Re: Sexism

You are obviously more concerned about women, and I respect that. But it holds true both ways. Respect and you shall be respected.

Re: Sexism

LOL Rizla - Ace!

Re: Sexism

agreed, goes both ways.

But jaanwar I am sure you have read the threads from past some days and sadly they don't say this at all.

Re: Sexism

Well, true they don’t say this, but they do give you a clear picture of what happens when the mutual respect bit is missing. A bunch of people trying to bite each other’s arse, trying to prove that they are right and others are wrong. But that is human nature. It is the exact same story whether it is life and relationships or the political and religious sections, everybody is trying to prove how they are better than the rest of the lot, or how their group is better than the rest of the world. Its fun watching them though :hehe:

Re: Sexism

is the term sexism like only used when Men are being mean to women??

Right ON

Re: Sexism

because those men are in love with the archaic image of a man: brutish, cruel, rugged and powerful, selfish, authoritarian, brawny, hairy etc. all in all: GAY. y.m.c.a' machos. don't mind them.. they are just in love with themselves lol

Re: Sexism

and I have to agree with that as well. No one wants to look like they might have the wrong idea and learn.

Re: Sexism

I agree! i dont know who made up the term feminazi but its just sad.
