All grades 1 to 12 Covered briefly. I wouod encourage folks to read curriculum for ALL 12 grades. And then read the comments. It is Physical and Health Education. NOT sex ed.
Granted grade 1 did stun me a bit. But as a commentator pointed out, better to use real term than pee pee or wee wee. Or “dick” and a×s! As a poster labeled them.
Anal sex isn't allowed in our religion...even between different sex people.
It is NOT the schools job to teach topics that r compatible with ALL religions. However, it is the schools job to teach kids to treat others with compassion, REGARDLESS of compatibility with religion.
Home schooling is indeed a choice for those who would object each time an incompatibility occurs between what is taught in schools and their religion.
Sex is only 10 pct of what essentially is a Health and Physical Ed curriculum. And anal sex is a miniscule part of it. But some parents would focus on this miniscule part. Rather than celebrate DIVERSITY.
As for what is not allowed in a particular religion, drinking, pre marital sex, condoms, abortion, divorce, eating beef, eating any meat, being within 1 yard of someone from lower caste - all of these are incompatible with one or more religions. It is ridiculous if schools would take this into account before setting up their curriculum.
Parents who yank their kids out of school during such classes end up hurting their kids. And hurting society.

"Diversity" can be celebrated without telling 3rd graders how to insert that in that. Schools have done a wonderful job erasing racism and bullying....they'll do even more wonders with teaching 3rd graders about condoms and anal warts.

Read the like I provided. Father than the link Muzna provide - which was a WARPED and DISHONEST version of what is being taught. Then let's have a discussion.
Meanwhile chew on the fact that Indians Pakistanis Chinese Koreans along with religious people from the west are bedfellows in this "protest".
Meanwhile I don't see protests by Hindus about the Gujarat massacre. I don't see protests by Muslims about treatment of other muslim sects including Ahmedis. But they are joined at the hip with conservatives on this non issue.
School is the very place where kids start to believe they have been left out...the school can't cater to their religious needs....it can tolerate any secular crap but not religion. That's why you have so many kids turning to extremism because they are made to feel they do not belong in this society by these so-called schools. I'm sorry but you know zilch about diversity and tolerance.

yanking the kids out is probably not a good choice... end up making them more curious and damaged...
As for education.. a general level of physical and sexual health education is good.. and tolerance too...
dont agree with half the posts... of southie.. tolerance shouldnt be one sided with people giving up their religious values and tolerating..while others dont even try to understand and tolerate ,why we want to raise our kids the way we want.....
when a kid decides whether he wants to learn physics or maths then he should get to decide that he wants sex education or not....
its like a personal interference in somebody's life...& justifying interference ...
personally i am against sex education at school for such young pupils.
after the age of 16, once biology teachers have covered all the necessary topic about reproduction , then maybe it is time to have a brief reviews of health and safety in sexual realtionships.
but seriously, why teach a 5 years old about sex positions and contraceptions.
do we really expect a kid to have knowledge and awareness of topics that dont matter in their life at this young age.
why not start having a careers sessions and explaining pensions and income taxes to these kids. after all they will become old one day so why not start from grade 1.
a kid brain is delicate and curious. a kid will love to experiment what he has be taught not to do. he will want to see why things prohibited are prohibited. you can already see the newspapers with stories of young boys aged of 7/8 trying 'rape' their sisters or girls friends. of course these poor kids are not rapists , all they wanted to do was to experiment how to put x in y , and how to use the condom they were shown in class.
so in the end i really think that by protesting against these sex ed, we are indeed doing a favour on the society.

Not sure why sex education is being linked to violence and raping. Kisi cheez ko dabanay se vo cheez dab to nahin jati hai na? I mean, Islam prohibits homosexuality...but that didn't stop same sex marriages from becoming legal in the United States, did it? Nor do same sex marriages stop people from living in non-Muslim countries.
We live in times where these topics WILL come up because our lives are immersed in social media and our kids will be even more internet savvy than we are. When and if this topic comes up, I don't want to see my kid tongue tied because mommy was so busy being freaked out she didn't bother to educate her kid.
How I feel is not important...what these kids will face and how they will face it is the actual concern.

the issue isnt sex education but rather it is sex education for such young kids. everything has a time, and when sensitive matters are explained at the right age it is more effective.
the reference to violence and rape is because a kid brain cannot understand that playing with the private parts of your girl friend is considered like a 'rape' and neither he will understand that a little girl body will hurt by such act and thus the act will become violent. little girls cant understand that when an adult of 18 years old try to woo them and convince them for sexual activities, it is consider peodophilia.
yes, these risks will be explained to the kids but they will not actually understand the message and will have a rather lighter approach to the risks.
more and more girls conduct in sexual activities with their bf without fearing getting pregnant because they have been told about contraceptions, yet their naive and not as carefull as the adults and end up being pregnant. look at the rate of teenage pregnancy in europe. look the numbers of young girls who damage their body with abortions within puberty.
media is already damaging our kids life, at least schools should not enhance the problem
ps/ my opinion is not religiously motivated. my concerns are for kids in general, not just the muslims in the west

You have written nothing logical. You have clearly not bothered to read the Huffington post link. Are you saying kids turn to extremism due to secular crap? You got things as backwards.
You used crap with secularism. A secular person doesn't feel the need to use crap with religion. I would submit the ignorance you spout does more damage to kids than any secular person can do.

Where did u get the information that 5 yr olds are being taught sexual positions and contraceltions. At least make an honest attempt to get the facts before coming to conclusions. Ignore the link Muzna posted - that was a huge disservice. The links I posted summarize the curriculum for each grade. At least take a look at it. And the dig further. And learn for urself what the curriculum is.
Or choose to absorb the dishonest talking points from a religious website. That over simplifies tbings.
Knowledge is power. Ignorance does no one anybservice.
Willful ignorance has no excuse - other than being too lazy to gather facts on the ground.

You can go back to ur cocoon now.
diversity....my ask.
Ooh....can't tolerate religion but I'm still gonna call myself the most accepting and diverse person on the planet.
