Re: Sex Comic for Six years old!
6 year olds are too young to know any differences unless they stumble upon them accidentally (like in MO3's case) or are purposely exposed to it. Unnecessary information should be kept away until the time is right. What's the point of so much education? I went to an all girls school and college. The first time I studied with guys was in the Univ, but never did I feel oh left out or less informed in anyway... and oh all this BS about kids should know is BS.
I am not sure where you got the 6 yr old part. This booklet is introduced in primary school, but does anyone know what grade ?
Grade 1
Re: Sex Comic for Six years old!
if you can tell your kid "pee-pee", you can tell him "penis".
and just because he knows its a penis does not mean he is going to run out and use it for anything besides peeing.
if your kid is six, and still doesnt wanna know what his/her body parts are called, or if other people have the same stuff, your kid is either abnormal, or not comfortable talking to you about such things. which is worrisome.
Re: Sex Comic for Six years old!
A 6 year old girl doesn't need to know about a penis. Seriously, there is no need and she isn't missing out anything in her general knowledge. She will find out some day...but that day doesn't have to be today.

Says "queer".
Re: Sex Comic for Six years old!
why make it personal, hareem?
any kid who has been to kidergarten has noticed the separate restrooms for boys and girls.
and most 6 yr olds of my generation in villages have already seen enough naked babies and kids to know boys and girls have different things. you people are being paranoid.
Re: Sex Comic for Six years old!
hmmm, whats next . . . . :hinna:
Re: Sex Comic for Six years old!
Queer, I think the point here is whether or not this kind of thing (body parts) should be taught in schools, not whether kids know about them or not. Most kids do indeed know about the difference between boys and girls in their early years. And yeah, now that he can pronounce the word, now that he's 6, my son says "penis". And uses it only for pee-ing. :)
Re: Sex Comic for Six years old!
MO3, sorry but i'd say from the responses on this thread, many of these people don't think 6 year olds know or should know about differences between boys and girls. they are in denial.
also, if something is common knowledge, why would they object to having it taught in school?
Re: Sex Comic for Six years old!
LOL @ the title of this thread.
Well, perhaps I am too old-school but I dont agree with sex education. Nobody, esp not my parents, taught me a thing about my (or somebody else's) pee-pee or penis, yet I learned with time. Everybody learns.
I dont think any of us who didnt have the privilage to go through formal sex education has been clueless about the 'types of pee-pee and their significance/utility'.

Re: Sex Comic for Six years old!
Lets get one thing clear - sex education is much more that just teaching about the names of body parts !! Lets not get the two things mixed up.
Also, atleast in the US, education is also required to teach kids about safety. Ever heard of "good touch/bad touch" ? How would you talk about that without naming body parts ??
Re: Sex Comic for Six years old!
but even teaching the names of the body parts .. is it so necessary to learn at the age of 6

so where did you learn about it from, jaanwar?

Calling a 'penis' a 'chair' is not going to make it any different :p From this booklet it does not look like they are talking about any other uses for it besides peeing.

You mean names of the sexual organs? No not necessary at all, these people just want to break taboos without considering the consequences.

most of on Gs are Pakistanis. even if we are raising our kids in USA/UK, they know that their parents do know or speak Urdu ..
so my simple question is, if one day they walk up to you/me/us and say .. hey papa, what do you call penis in your language, what should be the appropriate answer since you dont want me to tell that its called Kursi
Down playing the names of sexual organs do make a difference.
Re: Sex Comic for Six years old!
I've never seen a native English person using the word "penis" or "vagina" in front of his children and how some desis are daring to use it just because it sounds decent to them in comparison to their native language.

I am sure the kids growing up in US/UK also know that their parents know English. So why should a kid want to know what that body part is called in Urdu (or some other language) ?
Downplaying ANY discussion about 'those' bodyparts will be helpful :)
Given the exposure kids growing up in the west get these days, I would rather have my kids learn about things the correct & official & controlled way, than to have their more 'informed' friends/classmates tell them their version.
