Ask how many flogging in prophet time.
In those time muslim population was less, sharia law was implemented and the very law served as such a deterrent that people dare not indulge in such activity. There were lashing for drunkenness also., and if there a couple of incident where a couple was stoned of flogged then this punishment alone served as a scare that peple dare not even think about it.
Today why illeagal sex is on the increase cos there is no harsh punishment for it, all social evils are there in front of our eyes, unpunished.
i read the Hadith.. Sahih Bukhari book 3 hadith 81
"*Narrated Anas: I will narrate to you a Hadith and none other than I will tell you about after it. I heard Allah’s Apostle saying: From among the portents of the Hour are (the following): 1. Religious knowledge will decrease (by the death of religious learned men). 2. Religious ignorance will prevail. 3. There will be prevalence of open illegal sexual intercourse. 4. Women will increase in number and men will decrease in number so much so that fifty women will be looked after by one man. *
