I hope to keep up with this thread on the latest about the new production coming up or being launched in Karachi.
It has been estimated that almost 4 serials, telefilm, soap and series, is launched in Karachi every week. It has also been observed that almost all the TV artiste are Masha’Allah busy and actively involved in productions on everyday basis…in Karachi and roughly estimated, at least 25-30 serials, plays or soaps etc., are on record before the camera…EVERY DAY!!
Starting with the launch of BARKAT SIDDIKI’s “CHEYN AYE NA…” written by Seema Ghazal, took place last week with following in cast:
(Filmstar) Nadeem Baig,
Javed Shaikh,
Ghazala Kaifi,
Ahsan Khan,
Mehjabeen,’
Jahan Ara Hai,
Tajwar Shahana (from San Francisco) the 1972 announcer of PTV-K.
Yours Truly
Javed is my SAMDHEE as Ahsan’s dad and Mehjabeen my daughter.
This evening, we had two scenes recorded between me and Jawaid and the one with Nadeem Baig could not be recorded as he took ill and had to leave for some skin rash checkup…
The story is an interesting one…romantic and kinda tragedy as well.

Next update of another production being launched on Sunday-6th Dec, shall be detailed with some pics.
There will be an update every week on SUNDAYS thereafter.
On 12th January-2010, we fly to Toronto for shoot of Khalid Khan’s serial (still to be named) for two weeks at Niagra Falls also. The cast:- Samina Pirzada, Mikaal Hasan, Dimple Kapadia (from Mumbai) some local artiste from Toronto and Yours Truly.
Visa took a long time of 20 weeks…but worth waiting!

This is Dhaka (FDC Studios) July-1967 when, during my visit to my cousins, I was invited by my father’s friend SUROOR BARABANKVI the famous poet also…to witness the shooting of his movie TUM MERE HO where Nadeem Beg and Shabnam played the lead. I could never have imagined…

abdullah kadwani was such a bad actor... ppl thought he was a sifarshi in chand girhan and hawayein...a major put-off. watch his poor attempts at acting in hawayein. in chand girhan he was acting as a good for nothing son of a rich bureaucrat. he was like so lousy!!!!! he probably was some associate producer who used to act in his own productions LOL

"SIX SIGMA" in Karachi under the partnership of Samina Humayun Saeed
and Shahzad Naseeb which will have a formal grand launch
at Sheraton-Karachi by the end of January-X announcing
launch of FOUR serials simultaneously from 1st February directed by Mehreen Jabbar, Babar Jawed, Ahson Talish & Marina Khan.
Of the four--one with a huge cast, will be recorded in Dubai, Bahrain, Rome, Venice, Geneve, Potsdam (Germany), Edinburgh and London. Expected cast: Maria Wasti, Humayun Saeed, Rabiya Chaudhry, Ahsan
Khan, Nauman Ejaz, Aisha Khan, Uzma gillani, Jaana Malik,
Ismat Zaidi, Hina Dilpazeer and yours truly.
**Plans envisage departure for Dubai by 15 Feb for initial 07 days shoot
then to Italy, Germany and UK....till 04 March from where
Humayun Saeed, Myself, Aisha Khan joined by Feryal Gauhar, Javed Shaikh, Filmstar Nadeem..will proceed to Los Angeles from
London for SAFEER-e-PAKISTAN's Award Night on 6th March ** at LA-Sheraton.
The remaining 3 productions would span within Pakistan with
major outdoors in Bhurban and Nathiagali by late March.
The names of the serials shall be announced at the grand launch

I have no idea on no.1 but I'll find out as I am now being invited in almost all shoots as observer also---that i will start regular column in DAWN Sunday section from February on showbiz. I am also in final stages of formating a talk show I would anchor either for Express TV or DAWN TV by next quarter.
** On your point no.2 MEHREEN is in Karachi these days. She just completed a serial--Ahsan informed me---last week. I was to meet her but my bank work takes me to Lahore (cuurently I am here till 14th then to Isloo, Murree, Bhurban and Nathiagali)..so I guess I'll meet her after the 18th Jan...then I'll be able to cascade more on her forthcoming ventures...but I do know that Humayun has planned his serial by Mehreen.
** Humayun was in Mumbai for whole week--finalising a movie--Mahesh Bhatt would be directing in Dubai, Hatta, Khorfakkhan, Karachi, lahore, Islammabad, Nathiagali and Bhurban from April...produced by Humayun Saeed through his new production house SIX SIGMA.

Thanks for the detailed info....actually yesterday i put the same query on mehreen's FB page and she replied that her next project is Vasl which will be onaired in Feb or March fingers crossed....do let us know more details about it when you meet mehreen in person:)
as for Hamyun saeed's movie...ya i heard him on NKS that he n Bhatt were planning a movie ....i hope apart from utilizing Pakistani locations, they make use of pakistani talent too...Good luck to him.

The entire cast is Pakistani----except for DIVYA DUTTA and OM SHIVPURI and---not confirmed yet----probably Pooja Bhatt !
