well go have a look at brazilian newspapers and they are not surprised at all! they are kinda relived that this style of play didnt win them the cup.. ;) Netherlands fully deserved to win against Brazil!
today's was a lacklustre contest producing just enough...but to say that Netherlands are not worthy of a finals place is putting a gloss over their efforts :)

They won against Brazilians fair and square but today Uruguay played out of their skin and deserved to win, if refs had not taken it away from them.
Even during the move for the first goal by Holland there was a card deserving foul by dutch player that was not given.

Mark my words. Spain is a much hyped and over-rated team and will be thrashed by Germany tomorrow. Very boring to watch. Infact Spain were so lack-lustre in the 1st half against Paraguay that I almost switched off my telly. None of David Villa's goals so far have been the result of individual brilliance. He just applied the finishing touch in each case. He is no Maradona who can dribble and dodge past several defenders in one brilliant move.
If any team deserves to win this world cup, it is Germany :)
I thought Brazil and Argentina were the masters of free scoring but this German team looks strong both in defence (Spain w'd find it very hard to penetrate them) and attack. I have been impressed with their open play and counterattacking football so far. The sheer number of field goals they have scored is amazing

Uruguay only played out of their skins in last 5 minutes otherwise they were not trying enough.. Netherlands at least created more chances than them.
btw I agree about the ref but he simply didnt see that foul, he was ball watching. No justification but that goal was amazing!

Saby, there were too many decisions consistently against Uruguans
- First goal foul
- Goal on off-side, second one
- Sneider hitting the Uruguay player right infront of referee, that deserved red card (when backkick of uruguay player hit, dutch players face)
- Two offsides given against uruguay , when these were not

Could Uraguay turn off the lights in the South American worldcup corner, and call the towtruck to drag away the busted bandwagons of Brazil and Argentina. Thank you for playing, Europe reigns again. first time a team from the same continent will win it in 2 consecutive worldcups since the early 60s.

The best team does not always win the world cup (Italy for instance in 2006, Germany in 1990) Brazil still reign football as far as I am concerned. They were not disgraced at all. lost to Holland by the narrowest of margins
Have a best of ten games between Brazil and Holland (or Germany) any time. Holland most likely won't win more than 1 or 2 games
Holland were dull today. Spain were boring in the QF against Paraguay, not at all exciting to watch.
As I have said many times before, most of these european teams (unlike Germany ofcourse who have been impressive in attack and open play) are only good at scoring goals thru set pieces i.e. a corner, free-kick, a good header here and there.
But I want to see the team that is also good at scoring open/field goals winning the WC
I was supporting Brazil and Argentina before. And now I want Germany to thrash Spain tomorrow and then lift the World Cup on Sunday by defeating Holland. They have looked the best team by far

Lastly if Argentina (Brazil's defence is right up there with european teams) could improve their defence and bring it up to par with (boring but defensively sound) european nations they w'd cause their fans fewer heartbreaks...
