selling alcohol

we have a convinience store here and there was a package store right next to us…when it got closed we started to sell alcohol at our store…my mother was always against it..now we bought a building next door and basically relocating there…she said she doesnt want alcohol in the new store…my cousin asked an Aalim and he said its not permissible to sell alcohol and whatever the money comes from it is HARAM

i was hoping to establish this store and in 2 yrs just sell it so we wont have to worry bout selling alcohol…if we dont sell alcohol now the sale will go down and if we sell it its haram..businessman sheraz says to keep selling it but the Islamic sheraz says to stop selling it…ahhh man its tough to survive in this country

i do have a full time job…1500 ppl just got laid off from our company and they kept me…i believe its because my mother prays all the time…and its her who does not want to sell this ****…but we make good money from selling it!! be honest what would you guys do if you were in my position?

As long as you don’t charge excessive profits and don’t rip off poor customers, it is all good. God is not going to question what you sold in your store, so long as you served the community. God won't come down to such tiny retail details.

no matter what happens, being a mulsim i wouldnt sell it to even a kafir....coz i'll be going to hell for urging him on....money or no money...my Imaan comes first.

I disagree…
in Quran shreef it says…invite non-mulsims to ur house so u can influence them from Islam and turn them into one…and here u r trying to sell alcohol rather then telling/teaching him keh its haram…there are other ways and means u can serve the community not only through alcohol…:hoonh:

Honestly

I would not sell it.

Not because I’m a great Muslim or anything, I am not.

But, still I would NOT sell alcohol. never. ever. ever.

This is actually one of the issues that I have thought about a lot b/c a lot of Muslim restaurants sell alcohol.

You know, it irks me so much when I see a Muslim restaurant for example selling alcohol, that I don’t like to go there to eat even.

Same thing applies for me for any Muslim business.

So one customer, me, lost already for them.

My American raised Muslim friend was telling me its necessary for business here to sell alcohol otherwise you make no money.

But, I believe that a person should just go in the right and noble path for His sake without worrying about materialistic consequences, just have faith in ALLAH. If you do it for Him, He will provide for you, you must have heard this hadith similar to this that you take one step towards Allah and he comes towards you in leaps and bounds.

Don’t worry about your sales going down, really that’s an irrelevant issue. Kyun ke sab kuch Usi ne karna hae. Sales Usi ke haathon mein hae, aur alcohol ke saath bhee Woh chahay toh neechay ja sakti haen. Abhee agar sales achee hayn toh Us ke karam se haen alcohol kee wajha se naheen. Aur aainda bhee Wohi dene wala hae. Aap himmat kar ke aur ALLAH pe bharosa rakh k nayk kadam uthao aur alcohol ka karobaar band karo aur insha Allah Allah aap ke karobaar mein barkat dalay ga :k:

just my two cents…

Allah o Alim…

there are some benefits and then some harm. but the harm as per the Qur'an is greater..

regardless of 'sin' which is not directly mentioned in the case of 'strong drinks'.. it may be wise to drop these items.. i wonder if your insurance lowers if you don't sell alcohol ..

How does Shiraj get around?

listen to what ur mother is saying....selling alcohol is HARAAM....

Do you know why so many desis own Dunkin Donuts?.

I wouldnt sell it.

i see many pakistanis run deli selling beer. when you buy a deli
it comes with beer . you cant just run a deli without beer and cigaretts.

we (me n my husband)
always check if the owner of restaurant or meat selling store has alcohol in his shelves ....if he has , then we r convinced that he is not selling halal meat / meat products ....n he is only after money ....so we just don't buy anything from him no matter how strongly he tries to convince he is selling halal

so in my opinion ....listen to ur mother .....u may earn thousands more by selling alcohol ...but u will lose 'barkat' in ur money ....what if all ur prophit is spent on (God forbid) ur treatment after an accident ,...or u r robbed ....or what not ....!!!
trust Allah n he will not leave u alone , InshaAllah

:k:

Move to Saudi.

Easy come - easy go.

If you earn "bad" money, chances are it will be spent as "easily", and while you will not benefit from the money at the same time you will get sin from selling haraam in your shop. As they say in urdu: khaaya piya kuch nahi, glass tora baara aanay.

Your Rizk is Written. It can not be changed. Not a penny more, not a penny less. So selling alcohal does not make any difference.

It means that it is decided that you will earn $100 in a day for example.
You can earn it by halal way or haram way it is upto you. Opting for haram can not increase this money. But by refusing haram you can not refuse your Rizk. You will get it.

shraz bro its not really what some one thinks
this is a case of shariat
and your saliray can be haram if u do it against the shariat
i know alil about it which is that if u want to sell alcohol u can as long as u r not selling it to the muslims....and then your saliry wont be haram ....but i think there is a detaled thing abt this ...in books ...if u need it let me know..

thanks for the replies guys

we asked Ayotullah Seestani through the email and he said its not permissible and money that comes from it will be haram...i am not so much into selling beer but the thing is that ppl buy other stuff when they come to buy beer..oh well...we have decided not to sell beer..we dont need haram money..Allah maalik hai plus we were doing pretty good even when we didnt have beer..cant get greedy now
