Brother, I did not quoted Quran. Anyhow, there is widely quoted hadith attributed to prophet (SAW) saying that his (SAW) ummah would never unite on misguidance, so if you find Muslim differing, follow the majority.
So, by that argument if I was in Iraq or Iran I should follow Shia Islam, but if I moved to Pakistan I should follow Barelvi sect of Sunni Islam. How does that makes sense & which majority is right?
So, by that argument if I was in Iraq or Iran I should follow Shia Islam, but if I moved to Pakistan I should follow Barelvi sect of Sunni Islam. How does that makes sense & which majority is right?
How come?
Hadith is attributed to Prophet (SAW), and for Prophet (SAW), Ummah means whole Muslim body, across border.
Dear brother, where is the majority? Ahle sunnah itself has many sects within it, each declaring the other kafir. Like someone quoted above a quranic verse that each is happy and content with what they have.
Even for argument sake, I believe there is majority, then is it not about that majority about whom Prophet PBUH said that their scholars will be the worst creature under the sky? Which majority you talk about when your scholars bad mouth about eachother? Is it not the same majority about whom Holy Prophet PBUH said that their mosques will be filled with worshippers, but it will lack hadyaayat/knowledge.
Majority in itself is divided. They declare eachother kafir while think of eachother as muslims just for the sake of it.
How long after did Islam spread throughout the world like how we see it today? Needless to say, it took long. If you keep playin majority and minority game, then keep waiting and see what Allah’s will is.
It is written in your destiny to refuse/reject. You will do the same thing to Jesus (as) too, if He were to come down, you will reject him too on this basis. It’s just very unfortunate.
Everything happens gradually. Allah says Qun fayakun and it happens, and even then it takes time for the flower to bloom, the night to turn into morning, the baby to be born etc.
If you don’t join the army of Promised Messiah simply because you think you’re in majority then thats fine. Allah will bring force to this jamaat from other religions, other sects of Islam. Islam will prevail from this jamaat. It has already reached the corners of the Earth, and InshAllah the true message of Islam will be conveyed to each and everyone.
No … not unbroken chain of hadith - although that is essential for ascertaining the authenticity of hadith … what I said clearly was unbroken chain of tutelage.
Who were the teachers of our teachers? Did those teachers recogise and authorise their students who have become the teachers of today? That is how we work this out …
To be given ijaza and sanaad is important - because when you recite the hadith you do so with the names of the narrators, that so and so heard from so and so who heard from so and so - or so and so said, that so and so said, etc etc … in a long chain until the hadith is recited … In order to be allowed to narrate it with your own name in it you must be tested for that chain by the one giving it to you …
One clear indicator is the transmission of Hadith of Rahma …
It is the first hadith transmitted to students of knowledge who carry it like a torch to be delivered to the next generation … each link narrates the name of the one who they receive it from.
Now the name of my scholars are in this chain … are the names of your scholars in this chain?
If not can you provide another chain where your scholars are in that chain?
Salam…
.
“The merciful are shown mercy by the All-Merciful. Have mercy to those on earth, and the Lord of the Heavens will have mercy upon you.”
قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «الراحمون يرحمهم الرحمن، ارحموا من في الأرض يرحمكم من في السماء
. I believe the first of our Shuyukh to narrate the hadith of Rahma in the west was none other than Sh. Abdullah al-Qaadi in the mid 1990’s. (He mentioned this to me when I asked him whether he had transmitted to us on the Rihla course in Nottingham way back in 1997)
However Sh. al-Yaqubi is probably credited with transmitting this hadith on a much wider scale to the thousands who have attended his lectures, thereby familiarising muslims in the West with this narration which is widely transmitted amongst the scholars of hadith. May Allah (the Exalted) reward both of them the best of rewards for their efforts.
**Attention of Hadith Scholars
**When one looks in the biographical entries of the scholars of hadith one finds an extraordinary care on their part with regards to this hadith. They would strive to hear it from a scholar the first time they met them, aswell as the scholars of hadith themselves taking care for it to be the first hadith narrated in a gathering of students, whether they be local or from another land, so that they not miss out on the opportunity of the hadith of firstness (awaliyyah).**The First Hadith Narrated and a Strategy
**Such was the scholars desire for this hadith to be the first that was heard, they found a way for it to be so for a student who had heard other hadith from the scholar previously. They would call it the hadith of ‘relative firstness’ (awaliyyah idafiyyah), and this would be by the scholar narrating it as the first hadith of the gathering (majlis).
**Reason for it Being the First Hadith Transmitted Al-Sayyid Abd al-Hayy al-Kattani (Allah have mercy on him) at the beginning of his ‘Fihris al-Faharis’ (1/93) discussed the reason why the scholars of hadith started their gatherings with this narration, he said that this hadith is:
Common amongst the muslim community (ummah), and was paid attention to by the scholars of the science (of hadith). They gave precedence to its narration over others so that they would have a continuous pattern, as we have also done. And so that the seeker of knowledge follows it and knows that the basis of knowledge is mercy, love and maintaining ties. Not turning away and breaking (off relations). So if the student is nurtured with this, with him is nurtured the call to knowledge and mercy…and he is not raised except with the character trait of mercy, which he informs others of its benefits and results. A List of Works on This Hadith A result of the care and attention paid to this narration is that many of the scholars of hadith wrote specific works on it, mentioning therein the scholars from whom they heard this hadith of firstness (awwliyyah). Also going on to mention other narrations with a similar meaning which encourage the showing of mercy.
Al-Sayyid al-Kattani listed the names of those who authored specific works on this hadith, those he named being the following scholars:
1- Ibn al-Salah
2- Mansur bin Sulaim al-Razi
3- Abu al-Qasim Ismail bin Ahmad al-Samarqandi
4- Hafidh al-Silafi
5- Al-Dhahabi who named his work ‘Al-Adhb al-Salsal fi al-Hadith al-Musalsal’
6- Al-Taqi al-Subki
7- Ibn Nasir al-Din al-Dimashqi
8- Al-Siraj Ibn al-Mulaqqin
9- Al-Hafidh al-Iraqi
10- His son Abu Zurah
11- Abu al-Fath al-Lakhami who named his work ‘Al-Iqd al-Mufassal fi al-Hadith al-Musalsal’
12- Al-Hafidh Ibn al-Abar al-Tunisi who named his work ‘Al-Mawrid al-Salsal fi Hadith al-Rahma al-Musalsal’
13- Abu al-Baqa Khalid al-Balawi the author of ‘Taj al-Mafriq’
14- Al-Hafidh Murtada al-Zabidi who authored four works on the hadith
15- Al-Shams al-Jawhari al-Misri
16- Al-Sheikh Ata al-Makki
Al-Kattani also indicates to works by other authors and mentions that he had also written a number of works on the hadith. Additonal Works Mentioned by Sh. Awwamah
Sh. Muhammad Awwamah adds to the list of al-Kattani with the following names of authors:
1-Jamal al-Murshidi al-Makki al-Hanafi
2-Qutb al-Khaidari who named his work ‘Al-Masalik al-Ilmiyyah lil Hadith al-Musalsal bil Awwaliyyah’
3-Hibatullah al-Taji who named his work ‘Mazid al-Nimah fi Hadith al-Rahma’ a portion of which was cited by Allamah al-Kawthari at the beginning of his ‘Thabat’.
4-Muhammad Habibullah al-Shinqiti the author of ‘Zad al-Muslim’
5-Abdullah al-Lahji al- al-Makki who named his work ‘Ianah Rab al-Bariyyah ala Jam Tarajim Rijal al-Hadith al-Musalsal bil Awwaliyyah’ in which he wrote the biographies of the chain of Sh. Hasan al-Mashat for this narration.
**The Earliest Work Written on This Hadith
**Sh. Awwamah mentions that though al-Kattani lists many early scholars of hadith, the earliest known scholar (not mentioned by him) to have written specifically on this narration is by: Imam al-Hafidh Abu Bakr Ibn Abi Dunya who passed away in the year 281 Hijri.
Hadith is attributed to Prophet (SAW), and for Prophet (SAW), Ummah means whole Muslim body, across border.
With that same hadith in mind, Muslim Ummah is bound to be divided into 73 sects. Holy prophet PBUH said "MY UMMAH WILL BE DIVIDED" so if you are Muslim, you are bound to be in either one of the sect, or else you're not Muslim. Then He says all of them are hell bound one is on the right path.
Do you think 'majority' will give bai't to Isa(as) during His 2nd coming?
History tells us that scholars are the worst enemy of any prophet. Do think about it.
So, by that argument if I was in Iraq or Iran I should follow Shia Islam, but if I moved to Pakistan I should follow Barelvi sect of Sunni Islam. How does that makes sense & which majority is right?
Ummah = whole Muslim world
Another thing is that, there is no such thing as Berelvi or Berelvi sect. You can understand from the fact that people Making Mazar, Visiting graves of relatives and pious Muslims, doing Eid-e-Milad-ul-Nabi, doing Urs, etc ... all are practices of Muslim who in subcontinent are recently got branded Berelvi, but these practices are nothing to do with Berelvi as name Berelvi started after Raza Khan Saheb from Berelvi (died 1921), who started defending Sunni Islam from Deobandi Islam. These practices, what Sunni Muslim observe, are as old as Islam and are in practice wherever Islam spread (from Morocco to Philippine).
@psyah I'm not talking about chain of scholars. What you have is what I have. The way you understand things is in my opinion wrong. You blindly follow your scholars.
That's not the question in hand. My concern is, how can you be PART of 72 sect ( majority ) not declaring everyone hell bound AND yet be that ONE jamaat too?
Either declare them all hell bound then you have the right to say you're the 1 rightly guided jamaat. Or else, stay with that 72 sects, and think about what you are.
jamaat e ahmadiyya is on one side and when they were declared non-muslims, Jhang newspaper said all 72 sects have joined hands, something that has never happened before. It shows that you are part of that 72 sect. You cannot be that 1 jamaat while still be part of it. Please try to understand where I am getting at.
InshaAlalh, I will try to answer that (what I think about it) when i would write about my understanding on the issue.

Do you think 'majority' will give bai't to Isa(as) during His 2nd coming?
Yes (according to my belief). People present at the time of his (AS) presence would know him and would accept him. According to Quran, all would believe on Isa (AS) before his death ... and he (AS) would die after second coming ... so, for all to believe on Isa (AS) before his death, means that he would be recognized and would get accepted as a prophet (AS) by all who would be present.
History tells us that scholars are the worst enemy of any prophet. Do think about it.
As far as I know (and believe), pious (righteous) scholars are present in this world all the time, in every era. They are strength to Prophets (AS) of the time. and guidance for believers.
Anyhow, with pious (righteous) Scholars we also have evil Scholars (Ullema-e-Sue) who twist messages of Allah and misguide people. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to recognize them, especially by people who lack knowledge themselves. Even these scholars do not know they are misguided and could genuinely be thinking they are guided. Thus, these so-called Scholars are traps in the test of Allah.
No I do not blindly follow my scholars - I sought out which scholars had the greatest claim to authentic tutelage and then I decided … I was not born in to my current understanding - you were …
When I chose my scholars I listened to them, reflected on what they said, studied independently, verified and cross-examined … then I edged closer to them … I see they are most highly attested by other scholars of previous generations - that is the rule by which we gauge their license … so if you have the same - where are your ijazas? Which teachers of the past can we see link to your scholars …
musalsal … bi awwaliya
Watch this video and listen to the names of the people in the chain … the very first name is the name of my Shaykh, and then it goes on to state WHO he heard it from, and WHO he heard it from and so on …
Regarding 72 sects they are not the majority … I believe that the 1 sect this hadith refers to contains a populous which is a Muslim majority …
1 True Sect > 80% Muslims (as a collective of mutually compatible or accepting groups)
72 False Sects < 20% Muslims (as a sum of the total populous of the groups who neither identify with other groups nor other groups with them)
The Jang is wrong in the way it describes the Muslim groups.
divided religion means creating division among people. Sects in Islam were made / developed based on difference of opinion on certain interpretations. Islam does encourage difference of opinion. What is forbidden is creating division that lead to rift among Muslims. During the period of four Imams, sects were more of a different school of thought than confronting division as we see it today. It would be interesting to note that one Imam was student of the other and two imams living in same time (Imam Hanifa and Imam Malik) did have different interpretation of certain matters, but they never issue fatwa for others kufr as we see today among different sects.
In short, this verse do talk about sectarian rifts we see today, but is not about different school of thoughts as far as they don’t lead to fatwa e kufr for others.
When we talk about sectarian differences, my personal view is to look at 80-90 % similarities we share than seeing at 10-20% differences.
I think the prophet PBUH is simply referring to SUNNI Islam which is comprised of Salafis, brelvis, deobandis, sufis, etc. But those sub sectors of SUNNI Islam have very silly small differences. So it is SUNNI Islam, the main sector that the prophet PBUH is referring to will go to heaven regardless of the differences in their sub sectors because those differences are very very silly that some of them would make you laugh.
SUNNI Islam follows the SAHABAs after Quran & sunnah and that is the largest sector in the world of Islam from Africa to asia to europe to america as Sa1eem has mentioned above. The other sectors which do not follow the SUNNAH & the SAHABAs, one sector is shiia. Dont know which other.
This is quite a delicate concept to explain and understand as it has to do with belief in Qada and Qadr (Divine Will and Decree).
Of course Satan has free will just like us humans but we must have the belief that Allah Almighty’s Will and Decree are Supreme and absolute and will prevail over all free-wills.
As my knowledge and language skills are inadequate I think the following links will help better.
I have extracted the following from the link given below
Does Allah misguide people?
The gist of the matter is that Allah grants guidance to all by making the Truth and Falsehood clear through His signs within our own selves and the phenomenon around and through the Holy Prophets and the scriptures and everyone is free to follow it. One who hearkens to the message and shows yearning Allah guides him further but one who rejects the Truth Allah lets him follow the way he likes (Quran 4:115) and withholds the further degrees of guidance from him, seals the hearts of such and lets him astray.
If anyone contends with the Messenger even after guidance has been plainly conveyed to him, and follows a path other than that becoming to men of Faith, We shall leave him in the path he has chosen, and land him in Hell,- what an evil refuge! Surah An-Nissa 114
Which jamaat ahmediya? you have around 8-10 sub groups?
Those 8-10 so called groups are not recognized by jamat e ahmadiyya. In fact, they become part of you. They differ in the core beliefs of ahmadiyya movement. They do this to be accepted by Muslims, and have their own political agenda. Whoever leaves this jamaat and makes its own does so by His own will. If you understand the system of Khilaafat, you'll know that the majority has given bait to which khalifa...which group has that khalifa whose taking the mission of the prophet forward etc. It's a long discussion...but ill briefly write some things to watch out for.
Simple rule.
1) You profess you are that 1 jamaat. Rest of them belong to the other 73 sects
2) You see that one jamaat who has the nusrat of Allah with them
3) You analyze their beliefs based on Quran, sunnah, hadith
4) See who is following the footsteps of Huzur PBUH and sahabah(ra).
5) You have yourself that 1 jamaat.
You cannot be that 1 jamaat while still be part of that 72 sects. Announce openly that you are that 1 jamaat, and rest of them are all hell bound. Phir to baat mein wazan lage.
Islam is here to stay. Over the period of 1400+ years, people have added lotsa fairytales into it. The concept of Jesus (as) being alive in heaven bodily is something no sahabah(ra) have ever believed in. Different concepts which are not part of Islam but sadly was injected in it during these times is the reason why you need Jesus(as) return. You need someone to revive your religion. You need that one person who will bring Islam and Muslims under one banner. If Holy Book was enough for you to read and to act on, Allah will not be sending His prophets to people. We need a man from Allah to tell us what's the teachings of Holy Prophet PBUH and the true essence of Islam.

Peace Mr.Popat
I think the level of protectiveness you have for your jamaat is the same level of protectiveness we have too ... If there are differences from your way you sooner reject them than accept them ... But we are criticised for doing the same with Ahmadiyya Jamaat ... we should not be criticised by you for the reason that you yourself do this ...
Sady :salam2: I am daring to address your post and ready to face the consequences.
You must understand the dynamics of ‘life cycle of nations’.
Unfortunately at the present times the Islamic Ummah is in the lowest point of decline which started when the Islamic Ummah lost the will to lead Humanity and was in turn colonised by the other more dynamic nations. This rot and stagnation affected all the spheres of life in the Islamic Ummah and Islamic faith was no exception.
This rot and stagnation also had effect on purity of Islamic beliefs. All that was foreign and un-Islamic has crept in practices of ordinary Muslims’ lives. Rituals and traditions which were alien to Islamic faith became the norm in the mostly lay population and unscrupulous opportunist ‘priests’ took advantage of the situation to set up their own ‘shops’. This process further spread ignorance in the general public at large.
The Blessed Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) had warned us this era as that of Trials and Tribulations.
*Narrated that Hudhayfah ibn al-Yamaan said: The people used to ask the Messenger of Allaah [an error occurred while processing this directive] (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) about good things but I used to ask him about bad things, fearing that they might catch up with me.
I said, “O Messenger of Allaah, we were in a state of ignorance and evil, then Allaah brought us this good. Will there be any evil after this good?”
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “Yes.”
Hudahyfah asked, “Will there be any good after that evil?”
He said, “Yes, but it would be tainted with dakhan (i.e. a little evil).”
I asked, “What will its dakhan be?”
He said, “There will be some people who will guide (people) according to something other than my guidance and will lead them according to something other than my Sunnah. You will see their actions and disapprove of them.”
Hudhayfah said, “Will there be any evil after that good?”
He said, “Yes, there will be some people who will invite others to the doors of Hell, and whoever accepts their invitation to it will be thrown in it (by them).”
Hudhayfah said, “O Messenger of Allaah, describe those people to us.”
He said, “They will be from among us and speak our language (i.e., from among the Arabs).”
Hudhayfah asked, “What do you command us to do at that point?”
He said, “Adhere to the jamaa’ah (group) of the Muslims and their leader.”
Hudhayfah asked, “What if there is no jamaa’ah and no leader?”
He said, “Keep away from all those different sects, even if you have to bite (i.e. eat) the root of a tree, till you die while you are still in that state.” *Saheeh al-Bukhaari (3606) and Saheeh Muslim (1847)
As we are living in the times of fitnah and tribulations those who follow the Islam as it should be followed are in minority and Jahliyyah (Ignorance) is widespread thus the majority are in this camp.
So to sum it up Ahlul Sunnah wal Jamaa’ represent and practice true principles of Islam because they follow teachings of the Blessed Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) through his Companions (may Allah Almighty be pleased with them all) and his Ahlul Bayt – members of his family (may Allah Almighty be pleased with them all).
Ahlul Sunnah wal Jamaa’ has always been in overwhelming majority from day one. At present times Ahlul Sunnah wal Jamaa’ represent 90% of Muslims.
Just being from Ahlul Sunnah wal Jamaa’ will not automatically qualify or guarantee anyone a free entry into Jannah.
Those from Ahlul Sunnah wal Jamaa’:
Who keep faithful to the pristine principles as preached and practiced the Blessed Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and faithfully adhere to Huqooq-Allah (the rights due to Allah Almighty) and huqooq-ul-ibaad (the rights due to Allah’s creation or His slaves) will with the Grace of Allah Almighty will enter Jannah without incurring any difficulties.
Who in principle agree and accept pristine principles as preached and practiced the Blessed Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) but are lax and negligent in carrying it out in practice will have to go to Jahanum to pay for their misdeeds.
If these souls are fortunate Allah Almighty exercising His Right can forgive them. The Blessed Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) or some close relative who is Shaheed or Hafiz may intercede for them as the Blessed Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has informed us.
Who professed to be from Ahlul Sunnah wal Jamaa’ but their beliefs are tainted contrary to the pristine principles as preached and practiced the Blessed Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and they practiced “unislamic customs like believing fortune tellers (palmists, numerologists), acceptance to music” qawalis, etc etc etc etc etc and are negligent in regards to Huqooq-Allah (the rights due to Allah Almighty) and huqooq-ul-ibaad (the rights due to Allah’s creation or His slaves) will have to go to Jahanum to pay for their tainted beliefs and misdeeds.
If these souls are fortunate Allah Almighty exercising His Right can forgive them. The Blessed Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) or some close relative who is Shaheed or Hafiz may intercede for them,
Rest of the sects split from the main body of the Muslim Ummah – Initially this was strictly a political split but few centuries later the split came more on religious grounds and these groups deviated from the pristine principles as preached and practiced the Blessed Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
The pious among these who faithfully adhere to Huqooq-Allah (the rights due to Allah Almighty) and huqooq-ul-ibaad (the rights due to Allah’s creation or His slaves) will have to answer for their deviated Beliefs and practices and those whose piety is lacking will have to answer for their deviated beliefs and misdeeds. It is Allah Almighty’s Right if He wants to forgive anyone from among them.
Allah Almighty can forgive all sins except that of Shirk - associating anyone or anything with Him.
Nahjul Balagha is considered by Shias as the most authentic book on the sayings of Hz. Ali bin Abu Talib (may Allah Almighty be pleased with him)
In his Sermon the great Imam Ali bin Abu-Talib (may Allah Almighty be pleased with him) commanded his followers not to split from the “the great majority of Muslims”. And he disowned those followers who split from the “the great majority of Muslims”!
Ali says:“With regard to me, two categories of people will be ruined, namely he who loves me too much and the love takes him away from rightfulness, and he who hates me too much and the hatred takes him away from rightfulness. The best man with regard to me is he who is on the middle course. So be with him and be with the great majority of Muslims because Allah’s hand of protection is on keeping unity. You should beware of division because the one isolated from the group is a prey to Satan just as the one isolated from the flock of sheep is a prey to the wolf. Beware! Whoever calls to this course [of sectarianism], kill him, even though he may be under this headband of mine.”Nahjul Balagha, Sermon 126
Similar hadith is in Masnad Imam Ahmad
Ali bin Abu-Talib (r.a.) said:
*"The Messenger of Allah called me and told me: “You are like Jesus, Jews hated him till they slandered his mother, and Christians loved him till they put him in the position that is not for him. With regard to me, two categories of persons will be ruined, namely he who loves me too much and the love takes him away from rightfulness, and he who hates me too much and the hatred takes him away from rightfulness. Verily, I am not a prophet, and there is nothing revealed to me. But I work according to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of his Prophet (pbuh) as much as I can. So whatever I have asked you in regards to obeying Allah, it is your duty to obey me whether you like it or not.” *[Masnad Imam Ahmad]
I believe you! Looks like nobody is agreeing with you
Walaikum Assalam and thanks for your post. I will read it slowly & understand it in depth so will do it later.
And I dont know why you said that. Hehe… I respect you and respect everyone… Unless attacked for no reason
So please relax.
vroom made me go with his insanity. So I had to and:shikari:him. Im now in the process of regaining my sanity as it was before engaging in ‘discussion’ with him… seriously… Once I do, Im going to come back to read your post, InshaAllah. I know it is full of wisdom and knowledge as I have read some of your posts.
