Slavery went on forever, war captives were raped, women and children were enslaved, men could have sex with slaves also, look at the bad west they put a kibosh on the dirty old mans fun yeah and the world was flat forever and they had to go say it is round..lol. It is about gender equality, what is good for one gender should be good for the other. No you cant marry 8 yr olds because that went on forever, you don’t stone gays because that went on for ever, you don’t flog women because she chose to dress as per will, you don’t blame rape victims and flog them publicly. Yupp!!dirty old west is upto no good again.

What does my post have to do with slavery? =/ But since you’ve mentioned it now, I encourage you to look up the statistics of human trafficking in the US/Europe etc. Forget that - just look at how corporations operate in third world countries. If they’re not perpetuating hordes of modern-day slaves, then idk what they are.

The point of my post was to provide context to why polygamy was more popular in the rest of the world vs the West. It doesn’t make polygamy better than monogamy… or vice versa. If it works in the West for hundreds of years, sure, then monogamy def has pros. But if polygamy has also worked for hundreds of years in other societies, then it must have some benefit to that group in that specific context. Rather than labeling all differing ways of life (from the Western model) as barbaric, try to understand them and you might see why people do what they do.

Also - what is it with your creepy love-affair with the West? It’s perfectly OK to acknowledge that the Western model has flaws, and the entire system in general has committed heinous acts in the rest of the world. It won’t make you less Amreekan, trust me.
