It’s never going to work well in our culture when the wife is traditionally expected to live with in-laws.. Can you imagine on top of that the husband going off to live and sleep with another woman at least 50% of the time.. Our women (or women in general) I expect would not be able to tolerate that after making the huge sacrifice of living with his family and looking after them, whilst he isn’t even going to be living there himself at least half the time and will be sleeping with someone else..
I don’t doubt it can work in certain situations, but our system already places a greater burden on the wives, I think this would push many to absolute breaking point..

I guess it would be more complicated in a situation where the wives would hypothetically live with the in-laws, particularly requiring the man to provide separate quarters for each of the wives. The few cases that I know of a man in multiple marriages this isn’t the case in any of those arrangements.
