I thought about it, could handle seeing her collapse emotionally? or if she remarried would I be able to handle myself? No I couldn’t, I had some odd thoughts last night, I thought about my wife doing something rash to herself, I imagined she would kill herself when I broke the news, I imagined a jumble of scenarios and none ended well. I don’t want to hurt her, but now I’ve made a commitment to this girl here in Moscow and the stress I’ve put on myself is incomprehensible.

You want your wife to be happy with your decision to remarry so that you carry no guilt. She won’t be. More than that, she’s likely to lose both love and respect for you since she’ll see your actions as a repudiation of her love for you and your son.

You’re welcome to marry again, after all Islam allows you four wives - but do it knowing what it will cost you. Is your own happiness more important that their love and the family you are together? Only you can answer that question.
