Actually there is one question that comes to mind if Scotland becomes Independent, what will happen to the Duke of Edinburgh i.e. "Mr Queen Elizabeth" will his Title take him to Scotland, or will the Queen give him a new Title?

Does anyone know?

I vote for calling him Duke of Whales! just like his son is called the Prince of Wales!

Salmond plans on leaving the Royal Family with all their existing Scottish titles plus restoring the separate titles of the Kingdom of Scotland.

Th other, lesser possibility, is to undo the “Glorious Revolution” of 1688 when the Scottish-descended and Catholic House of Stuart was overthrown as Kings of England by a rebellion which imported a Protestant Prince from Holland to be the new King. However, the current inheritor of the Stuart claim to the British Throne is the German Duke of Bavaria, who states that he currently has no plans to try and take over any of Queen Elizabeth’s titles…
