schools in Islamabad

Re: schools in Islamabad

Going back a ciouple of years now (class of 91) and my memory isnt what it used to be, not sure i can remember them all but i'll have a go!
Beaconhouse: Mrs shahid for english
Mrs Butt for geography
KB khan for maths
Mr sandhu for biology
Mr MT for chemistry
Mrs Hajra Pak studies (one of my all time favourite teachers)
A very old guy who taught Urdu (i think he was some kind of poet or something but very eccentric)

How bout u?

Re: schools in Islamabad

woh we pretty much had the SAME teachers!!! I just got in touch with Mrs. Butt, she was so happy to hear from me and remembered me! Mr. Sandhu and MT are still around (amazing isnt it), MR. KB Khan opened his own school, so did Mrs Hajra (yeah she was amazing, and she was my dads classmate in school too). The old guy you talked about Mr. Sherwani unfortunately passed away :( He used to call us 'gandey katrey ki padawaar', ofcourse that was exclusive to the boys branch students. I went and met Mr. MT and Sandhu.

So you were in the O'levels batch of 1991?

Re: schools in Islamabad

What are their names, Im pretty sure I’ll know 'em

Re: schools in Islamabad

Hi Guys,
Can anyone share the experience with schools like ROOTS, HEADSTART, JOAN MCDONALD and FOUNTAINHEAD.
Which one is good/best for pre-school Kids?

Re: schools in Islamabad

Spock yaar - this was in Lahore - not Islamabad and from what I recall you did your O- and A-levels in the late nineties... whereas I did my A-levels in 1996.

Re: schools in Islamabad

yes i did, were you in the same batch at the boys branch? how did u contact mrs butt, i wasin the same class as one of her daughters. Oh man i thought mrs hajra was the best teacher ever. ahhhhh i cant believe sir sherwaani isnt with us anymore, he really hatted teaching our class, it was full of valayat rejects and our urdu accents were pretty rubbish but he especuially thought i was a total waste of time as my written urdu was so bad. aaaaaa the good old days!

Re: schools in Islamabad

The time we went to the beaconhouse the monthly fees for O'Levels was around Rs. 500 ... now what does this make me, very old :D aaah those were great days ..

Re: schools in Islamabad

hey, I also have had Mrs shahid for english, was she in the girls branch before? She was great, she also teached us arts! I still have those painting.

I remember one of ours teacher, maybe Mr. Khan? he was so innocent, that one girl used to call him, Sir Kaddo .. lol he didnt say anything till one day he exploded.

Our biology teacher was so modern for those days, that she used to wear sleevless, that was a big no no those days.
and our urdu teacher was so strick, she hated those who didnt read/write urdu properly, I was her on her hate list.
once a girl from egypt word a skirt to school and she allmost killed her with her glares... Lol
The principle was Mrs Zaman she used to drive a white volkswagen.

i have so many more stories.. miss those days and lost my contact address of my friends during our luggage travel .. wish i can meet atleast one :-/

Re: schools in Islamabad

hi saadia, when did u leave the school? i left in 91'. Mrs Zaman was the headteacher when i was there to and i remember her white volkswagon. she was a pretty nice lady from what i recall. were u in the o-level or metric class?

Re: schools in Islamabad

Hello brummie, I left at the end of 89' as we had to leave for another country, could not finish it but I was in the o-level class, I think if I has stayed around, I would have done o-level it in 91 as I was about to reach class 10th when we unfortunately left.'
Were you in the girl's branch ?

Re: schools in Islamabad

I could hook you up with some of your batch mates! lol and Mrs Zaman had that white vw till the day she retired. The libray at BMI is named after her.

Salaams,

Theres a good english medium school in Islamabad (F11-3) which comes highly recommended. I have four children there and i am highly impressed in the way in which they have adapted coming from abroad.

They focus a lot on the children's personality grooming and fees are reasonable too.

BTW the school is called "Oxbridge International Grammar School"
the website is: oxbridgeschool.edu.pk landline: (0092) 51 222 5155

Pay them a visit.
