Faisal,
I am not sure about ICB but ICG is still considered to be a good school.
well, actually ...someone from pak met my husband a week or so ago .....n both were discussing the schooling in islamabad ....as some of u know ...we r planning to move back .....so i wanted to know which schools r considered best .....!!
as for ICG or ICB ....yes Faisal is right , they r well reputed n i have heard that almost all schools under federal board in islasmabad r good ....but for private schooling i wasn;t sure ....
i know i'm not going straight in any of these schools ....coz i'm planning something else ....so InshaAllah ....after 4 or 5 years i will need to chose any of these n not before .....:)
but personally i have a thing against beaconhouse .....but don't know what exactly ....may be i'm biased ...:)
as for froebels etc......the person who met my hubby was describing it as second to none ...so i just became curious ......:)
anyway ...thanx all for ur views ....:)

Hi there,
I found this old thread now as am looking the same. As you have started the thread and got the information some years back, I am writing you to get your help and advise in the same matter. We are relocation to Islamaabd next month and willing to enrol our 4 years daughter and 3 year son in one of the best school in Islamabad. Can you help??
An early reply will be appreciated.
Thanks
Re: schools in Islamabad
If you wanna go for the best school, I'd have to say Beaconhouse School System Margalla Campus H-8. I have studied all my life in that school, and besides it has the best O and A level results in the city and the best rep. as well.
lol.
btw how much was the per month fees?
Re: schools in Islamabad
Zobia, Beaconhhouse school system is indeed one of the best school systems in Pakistan. It is one of the school system’s that has its branches pretty much all over the country.
City School System is another example, one of the best school system's in Pakistan and they also have branches all over the country.
The fee for all these schools varies from grade levels. You will have different fee for Montessori, elementary, middle, high school (regular matric), and O/A Levels.
When we were in Pakistan, my mother was a principal of this Montessori school in Karachi and they used to charge Rs. 7000/child/month. I went to an army school and as a civilian my fee was around Rs 3000/month. Like every other thing quality education is not cheap in Pakistan. It is sad but it is a fact and parents try their best to send their kids to the best school, not just for the name of the school but the quality of those schools.
Re: schools in Islamabad
What about the embassy schools...
When I was in college, virtually all the international students from Pakistan had graduated from either from KGS or one of the three American schools (Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad)...from what I understand, they all have excellent placement rates at prestigious foreign universities.
Re: schools in Islamabad
I used to study in Froebels too and I think it is one of the best schools in Isloo. However, I must say that some teachers are more favourable towards certain children (I was one of them
).
P.S. Pleez dnt hate me for tht ![]()
Re: schools in Islamabad
Yes, Karachi Grammar School also has pretty high standards and there are many schools like them, PIS, Habib Public, Mama Parsi, Happy Homes, etc. (These are Karachi based schools)

I've read in a few places that KGS apparently has the highest average SAT score of any high school in the world.

I just found this thread refreshed again here.
Its funny but I'm still trying to find an answer to this Q ....hehe....we are also moving back in the start of next month inshaAllah.
We planned to move back at least twice, but due to certain things it never happened. In the meantime we moved from Germany to UK...but Alhamdulillah now at last we are gonna be back there, InshaAllah.
One of my distant relative has been giving tuition to many kids in Islamabad for past few years....we asked him as he has taught students from different schools....he thinks Beaconhouse is good. But acc. to him Froebels n Islamabad preparatory school are at the top at the moment. I tried contacting the schools but they all ask for entry test before admission so we have decided to move first, take tests n take it from there. Lets see...!
wish you Good luck! :)

@Afia: Hi we r also moving from Germany!!!!!!! I have already asked IPS but they siad the admission are already closed. Regarding Froebels I read it is for elite class and we belong to the majority, so it will be not for us. I'll let check Beaconhouse but which branch is for the kids under 5 (pre school). What about ROOTS, HEADSTART, JOAN MCDONALD and FOUNTAINHEAD, Can anyone share the experience.
Thanks
Re: schools in Islamabad
froebels is not only for elite...my daughter has studied there and trust me all these things were rumours...its a good, established school, fee is almost the same as headstart etc..it has purpose built campus.....i just go to these schools yourself. even lahore grammar school has its branch on luqman hakeem road.
Re: schools in Islamabad
hi guys, just thought i'd my 2 pence to this thread. We spent 8 years out in pakistan and i went to Beaconhouse for my O-levels and OPF for my A-levels whilst my brother attended Froebels. The discipline and education i received at Beaconhouse was far better than what my brothers had at froebels.
At froebels as someone else rightly pointed out the emphasis was all on tuition outside of the school and if you were a tuition student of particular teachers you were guarenteed to do well! there was quite alot of chichora pun going on at the school, lots of spoilt little rich kids who thought they were american, who thought drinking and doing drugs was really cool! again this is based on my brothers experince at the school.
I loved my time at beaconhouse, most of the teachers were great and i made some fantastic friends. There were alot of expats like myself at the school but there was a really great atmosphere there.
we were all at school there untill 1994, so i know it was sometime ago but i just thought i'd share my experince with you.

brummie, what batch? Name some of the teachers you remember please?
You are right about the tuition part, BMI made sure you didn't need one. I neve rhad any tutors, and I had straight As in both O and A levels.

lol.

I cant say for now, but back when I was in O'Levels, it was Rs. 1800 per month. I got a scholarship in Alevels, so I didnt have to pay anything for those two years, but I believe it was Rs. 5000 per month if memory serves me correctly.
As for the choice, just look up the last 20 years of O/A Levels results statistics of Islambad, for the various schools/centers, and go with the best one :)
Re: schools in Islamabad
I’ve only spent a couple of years in Pakistan during my O- and A-Level years… and even though I didn’t go to Beaconhouse, I have great respect for their school system. I had friends who attended it :k:
