each of these institutions might be equally good in offering education. however, other factors might help you to decide.

'star kids'...havent heard anything like that...but there is a school named 'roots',its on nazimuddin road f7....
If you wanna go for the best school, I'd have to say Beaconhouse School System Margalla Campus H-8. I have studied all my life in that school, and besides it has the best O and A level results in the city and the best rep. as well.
I had a horrible time at Froebels (stayed there for about 6 months). It's a "daycare" centre for the rich spoiled offsprings of aristocrats and nothing more. It's one of the top most schools of islmabad (Benezir's son studied there), private, but sucks when it comes to education. Just my opinion.
(the fact that it is co-ed is a huge problem for the teachers and the kids studyin in it).
However, OPF is an excellent school! Again i was there for about 6 months but i learned so much. They really do teach there. Its a private school, again.. benezir's daughter used to study there :D, alongwith other kids belonging to the rich and famous. The only difference is it's not co-ed. They started off with a girls school but then they built one for boys.
excellent teachers who don't live off privately tutoring kids. If they teach.. they make sure they do IN the classroom, unlike teachers of Froebels who make money outside of the classroom and so don't really help whislt teachin in school.

hmm... I find that a bit hard to believe.
A bud of mine went to Froebels for his A-levels. He had straight As in O and A-Levels. Now, he's at Stanford. came to amreeka on full scholarship. very sharp guy.
maybe he's an exception?
maybe.. it was just my opinion. I came from arabia from a private catholic school co-ed where we really got an education. There was no chichora punn or hoo haa over the school being co -ed or girls in itsy bitsy kilts. But somehow things would get out of hand at Froebels with it being co-ed (minus the kilts). Teachers too scared to pick on ambassador's kids etc. Real education was imparted when u went for tutoring. Teachers always found a way to leave out the important stuff when in school.
I guess if u were brought up in the system then u would do great .... but if ure a foreign returned student like me.. it can be hell cuz its all politics... ofcourse .. there are the exceptions.. like ure friend.. who can do great in any situation :)
lums is considered to be an out school :-D. however, some of my friends studied there and they turned out to be fine. :~)
on a side note (i think) it also has a diverse student community
compared to other schools.

I agree, I, along with my sister and brother spent 2 years in Beaconhouse Islamabad. The students were decent and the teachters quite highly qualified. I learned a lot there and had a good time, the only thing which we lacked, that we did not go out of school for outdoors activities, but I think its improved now. The school has the british O and A level standard.
i went to beacon house and bahria both and preferred the latter. :~)
Afia baji - I guess you already got the website for froebels above, here is beaconhouse http://www.beaconhouse.edu.pk/ aur citi kee naheen mili… ![]()
why dont u like beacon house? its not bad…i dont think its the best either lekin one of the better ones for sure…
in my opinion the best school in pakistan is saint michael’s convent school in karachi, not just because its where i went to school for 10 years, but it is just the best from all standpoints…
i’ve also been to karachi grammar school, which many consider to be the best school in the country, for 2 years for A levels and HATED the place..HATED HATED HATED HATED HATED HATED HATED HATED HATED…HATED HATED HATED…cant say how much I HATED it…
so whatever you do, never ever put your kids there…
khawateen I completely and totally agree with you yaar. I have been to Froebels for some time and I didn’t like it there at all, completely westernised atmosphere, and the studies were not rigorous at all. Its just la la land and all the spoilt rich kids come there, I would never recommend it to anyone…
Spock I used to go to Beacon House Margalla Campus H-8 for some time for A levels  Which year were you in?
whats with the empty posts? you kids! ![]()
Isn't there ICB and ICG in Islamabad? I thought they were good schools, some time ago... maybe not any more.
For those who don't know, ICB is Islamabad College for Boys. Previously it was ISB (S=School), but then they also added the college bit. ICG is for girls.
Did they change names or has their standards completely shot to hell in recent years? My brother and sister studied there for a few years, a long time ago, and they raved about it. Supposedly it was (is?) the best in Islamabad.
Irem, I completed my Alevels in 1999. I was the headboy from 97-99 ![]()

Well Faisal, with schools like Beaconhouse, City, Froebels etc, ICG and ICB were never even close to being the best in the city. Beaconhouse Islamabad offerred a British system from UCLES, along with a very good repute of education of an excellent standard. The same is not true for the brances in Pindi or Wah etc. Right now I would say its the best school in Islamabad simply because of two reasons...
Firstly, they get the best O and A level results in the city, and the country overall. Last batch in Margalla Campus alone had 38 students with straight As, and in my time there were only 8 students with straights, hence its getting better day by day. The same is not true for the matriculation results, but not alot of students there opt for Matric anywayz. Secondly, they have this standard set up, which being a beaconite all my life I began to understand when I completed my Alevels and attended college. Eventhough speaking of academics, the school is at its peak right now, but the quality of education is not as good as it used to be when the British principals used to work here. They didnt just focos on just getting excellent results like the local principals do now.
Other private schools, such as Froebels popped up during the mid 90s, as a good competition to Beaconhouse, but the only thing that it had similar with Beaconhouse was the hefty amount of fee they were charging.
Oh and Sambralian, whats the name of the guy from Froebels who went to Stanford on scholarship, I might know who you are talking about ;) Ali Turab right? He didnt do too well in his Alevels in Froebels though. He got straight As when he was an abdalian I believe.
