Nobody believed me when I said I did lock the car n never opened all 4 windows that day …khair!
Now today morning at 7:50 I went downstairs with kids opened the boot to keep kids school bags there n I noticed the sides where u keep tools etc. were open…I thought how strange! As these were closed yesterday evening. Khair then we were in hurry for school so I didn’t bother thinking much about it at that moment. Now I opened the door to sit on driving seat n there I found car’s service book on my seat. I was alarmed but then I asked my eldest if he took this out (he sat in car just seconds before me) he said no. I looked around inside the car n was shocked to see that the whole navigation system (with radio n TV etc.) was gone!!!
And the car was locked this time too! I unlocked it myself this morning.
So the navigation is gone n whats freaking me out is the fact that I have been going downstairs for past few days at really odd times like 1 a.m. or so just to start my car for a few minutes so it doesn’t give problem in morning (as its really really cold these days with snow n all) so just before going to bed I would go downstairs without any fear as I could never imagine this type of thing happening in our neighbourhood. Ah well, I didn’t go down yesterday as I had fever etc. n just couldn’t bother. Though I spent the night feeling guilty why I didn’t go …but now I’m glad I didn’t!

You forgot last night to lock the doors, and some body went into car and took every thing and before leaving he/she locked the door ...good manners him/her had to protect your car from being theft from next-door thieves.
While opening the dashboard he/she took advice from the car manual.
:o we should keep our cars in the bedroom..I am getting into trouble these days too but this is scary!!
by the way, you can just start your car in the morning for 5 mins rather than going downstairs in the middle of the night to keep it alive.
As far as ghosts are concerned I feel like I have one in my house too,,,I can open my door even when its locked and sometimes I find it open when its supposed to be locked. But I guess, we live with good jins who just like to play with locks and thats it. :$
Afia Bajee, I think you should call the police and tell them everything. And dont bother to start your car so late, if you drive everyday that should be enough and it shouldnt cause issues with the cold etc.
I just brought up the topic ....partly because nobody believed me few months back while I was dead sure I locked the car.AND partly in a hope may be someone can explain how it is possible to steal something from a locked car n then leave it locked
I spent whole day running around from police to auto service to insurance.
Oh, n the lady at police station told me 5 min. before me a guy from the same house number n street (my neighbours) reported the same (we share a compound for eight cars) but in his case it was radio n not the navigation system
The oldman who parks his van next to us just mentioned two suspicious guys wandering near buy to my neighbour upstairs....
And a month ago I went to drop my hubby at airport at 5:00 a.m....he came down 5 min. before me n told there were four guys roaming around n disappeared upon seeing him .....as i know hubby is extra careful (read annoyingly) I just didn't think much of it n said may be they were clearing ice from drive way etc. (which IS the case sometimes in winter)
So ....I can safely say...it wasn't my fault n it IS a case of theft. but then again I've got no clue which thieves leave the car locked...!
Gemi....its impossible to 'waste' 5 minutes in morning as its always a run, run, run situation (thanks to my kids for being so typical last minute ppl)
um well I always turn my car on and then I go inside to get my jacket, shoes, lock the door, and everything else so by the time I get back in the car, its all warmed up. I don’t think if its safe to do so in your neighborhood anymore since someone might actually drive away with you car without even bothering if its warmed up or not!
How about an alarm system for your car that goes panic even if someone touches it while passing by.. trust me those alarms are loud and won’t turn off until you get there with your car keys.

I had it all reported ...apparently its quite common these days .....as thieves break into your car take whatever they want n before leaving push the lock (thanks to the central lock system) so no biggie .... they have mastered the art of unlocking without a single bruise etc. so we can expect anything.
I'll get the whole system replaced in coming days inshaAllah .....apart from panicking at that moment, the only difference this incident made is, now perhaps I can never be brave enough to go downstairs in the middle of night. Khair... there could be something worst than this ...I'm glad the loss doesn't involve my family. material things can be replaced anytime.

And Afia, how are you sure your doors were locked when you you went to your car, we tend not to notice whether the doors are locked or unlocked when we press the unlock button on the remotes, so its not really probable that you couldv’e noticed it, unless you went to the door and manually checked. (I usually don’t, thats why I’m saying it). And the car you drive probably has an auto-lock system, set on a timer.
And yea, manual was either out cuz the thieves wanted to know how to take out your navigation system, which is pretty funny and brave of them , but also cuz they might have searched your dashboard for other valuable stuff.
Get a surveillance system, or start parking in the garage**

That’s great, Afia, do these,
one install an Alarm, and
secondly install a Remote starter in your car... :-)
and stop going out in chill to turn on the car, while not bundling up properly, I was used to do the same 15 mints before I go to office, but its not a good practice, later I installed remote starter and made my own life easy :-)
and yeah that has to be me, mmmmm indeed you are scaring me, but that won't work :-D, ok can we all see those 3-angels in mage2 please ? ...
I am still sure that I won't be changing my wish , cuz angels also love me :-D
