Re: Sausages

aside from info BQ posted, sausages can also be beef only, chicken only etc, and the casing could be intestines or something else.

Re: Sausages

Sausages are quite disgusting.

Re: Sausages

Re: Sausages

i knew it there is something wrong with sausages..few days back we went for a offcial lunch and there they ordered sausages dish and insisted me to eat..but i didnt eat as i have some doubts …

but in pakistan they also case with intestine?i dont think they mix porrk with meat here..its a muslim country :hmmm:

Re: Sausages

Sausages are reallly quite similar to kebabs. They're ground meat mixed with spices and then encased to keep their shape. It used to be common to use intestine as the casing but now its usually something synthetic. When I cook sausages, I remove the casings before serving them. They can be made out of any type of ground meat - turkey, chicken, beef, mutton or pork and depending on the spicing and the quality of the meat they can be quite delectable. Just check out the ingredient list before buying esp in US because pork is a very common ingredient.

I love bbq'd sausage hoagies!!! I par-boil the sausages to firm them up then remove the casing. BBQ them till done. Cut them in half and spread the slices on hoagy bread. Top with fried onions and peppers. Yummy!!

Re: Sausages

Another delicious use of sausage...remove casing and fry the meat till well done. Add to a simmering pot of tomato sauce and it adds much flavor.

Re: Sausages

MAMAOF3....i assume they r halal sausages u r eating???

Re: Sausages

I dont go to specifically halal stores...there arent many near me....but I do look at ingredients and there are many available made with turkey or beef or even chicken.

Re: Sausages

I sometimes buy Turkish sausages encased in plastic foil...easily removable...most sausages tend to be so greasy and made of left-over or rubbish meat...ummmm...mostly...no...no... :D

I never buy regular mince meat...just buy mostly fat-free beaf and ask the butcher to make keema of it... :)

Re: Sausages

nowadays halal sausages are available easily i believe, havent bought them though.. never liked them

Re: Sausages

wahts the difference between sausages and hot dogs?

Re: Sausages

^ i wanted to ask same question :D

Re: Sausages

hot dogs are thinner and made for those hot dog rolls. You cant really fit a sausage into those rolls cause they're too fat. Hot dogs are usually made with pork although chicken-dogs and all-beef dogs are more readily available these days in grocery stores. Hot dogs no matter what meats go into them, are usually less spiced than sausages. They/'re dern good eatin for sure but sausages have more of a spice kick than hot dogs.

Re: Sausages

maybe a tutorial is needed, hotdogs, sausages, kielbasa, polish sausage, bratwurst, knackwurst, andouille, mortadela etc.

these days you can find all of these in all beef versions, many halal, many made without any spareparts. the seasonings, spices ingredients vary.

I wouldn't be averse to trying halal sausages made WITHOUT "spare parts", but have yet to come across any.

AGREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never liked hot dogs.

Re: Sausages

n why they r called 'DOGS'....(hot dogs)...it sounds so bad.....lol

Re: Sausages

^ Bcos they are made from mashed up dogs flesh.

It's common in the sausage world to name the sausage after the animal from which the meat comes from.

Another one is the Italian mortadella - that's "Dead Horse" to you and me.
