"Saudi veils are bound to slip"

Re: “Saudi veils are bound to slip”

OK Einstein, we know you have a PhD from King Rafeek bin Shafeek University. Eskplane something to me. If you haven’t seen or talked to those other 99% women, how can you conclude that they are ‘happy’? Is there any empirical study done on that? If you think that someone who is not allowed to leave the confines of her house without a male escort is happy, then your head deeper buried in sand than you may think it is. It is not about Abayas..it is about freedom to think. Abaya doesn’t confine one’s thought process, but the laws do.

Why don’t you tell why Bahrain is more open and somewhat more progressive than Saudi Aabia? Could it be due to the fact that they are a significant Shia (however ruled by Wahabis who keep tight lid on things)? I am not generalizing but Saudi women are treated worse than goats in their own country and people like you are brainwashed into believing that they are happy. It might surprise you to know but I have traveled in that entire region and talked to many academics from there, so I know what I am talking about.

AQ, do you want me to put a PhooloN wala Haar on people’s neck before exchanging views with them? are you for real? OK, here’s one for you

Re: "Saudi veils are bound to slip"

Q: What's worse than a male chauvinist?

A: Those of you that believe that somehow your women are happy to be a 4th of you, and have lesser rights than some animals.

But it is quite easy to understand why you cannot admit the discrimination - because it knocks at your core religious beliefs

Re: "Saudi veils are bound to slip"

madhanee did u meet the 99% that i missed????

the percentage of unhappy saudi women might be the same as the percentage of unhappy american women or pakistani women or indian women or bahraini women....

u cant keep them all happy....

but to generalize it over the entire female population is plain stupidity and ignorance....

but as i said earlier, for ppl who can relate arabia only to camels, cant really be expected to think much deeper....

Re: “Saudi veils are bound to slip”

Moghal are you pretending to be thick or not pretending? It’s not about who is happy and who is not. are there any venues in Saudi Arabia where women can express what they feel compared to say Pakistan, India, or even Bahrain? I think my point flew over your head like a flying camel. Stop trying, you will not get it.

Re: “Saudi veils are bound to slip”

Just let them live yaar, the saudis will always remain an itch in the Wests ass, with so much oil & power. :jhanda:

Point is what does west want to prove by taking their veils off…??? Oh I get it first the veil, then the clothes & voila…we will have a corrupt nation in no time thanks to the creeping fahashi.

Re: "Saudi veils are bound to slip"

what sort of venues r u looking for????

Re: "Saudi veils are bound to slip"

mod-edit.

Just a reminder that the thread is now delicately balanced between derailing/name calling and serious discussion

Re: “Saudi veils are bound to slip”

Nescio: did I ever tell you how cute you look when you are typing in “red”. mashallah..teri sir pay nazar na lagay :baanyiaankarnevaala:

Re: “Saudi veils are bound to slip”

Dilber Jani, I am not looking for any venues, I have all the freedoms in the world that I can dream of, including those that I can’t even dream of. However, what will be nice for Saudi women is for them to have the same opportunities that are available to her counterparts elsewhere. This is year 2005 not 67. Now as it stands, she could be rapped insider her house but she cannot step foot outside of her house alone to report a crime (what if she is alone at home??). Now, please don’t tell me that it doesn’t happen in Saudi Arabia blah blah blah… because it does happen there. Did you read about the news not long ago how 15 or so young Saudi girls were burnt to death inside their school as they were not allowed to escape by motherfking Muttawa Police that had shut the doors tight on them (arguing that their attire (a friggin school dress) was un-Islamic. Now if you think that women there are happy and content on the status quo, then so be it. Let them die like goats and be rapped, it is better like that.

Here are some more nice laws of Saudi Arabia related to women:

-a Saudi woman, if marries a non-Arab muslim (she is no longer a Saudi should she marry a non-Muslim), can lose her Saudi Citizenship, and the kids born to her cannot claim Saudi Citizenship – the law doesn’t apply to Saudi men.
-a Saudi women must be accompanied by a close relative to venture outside the house.
-she must be covered in a black grab and must wear horse mask in public.

These are just a few examples, now in circumstances like the above, do you really think that Saudi Woman are valued in their country more than a house pet? What’s the going rate for a bride there? On my last trip there, someone mentioned that rate for bride is tied to her complexion. Is that right?

Re: “Saudi veils are bound to slip”

 i think this is only the second time i did that

Re: "Saudi veils are bound to slip"

I'm sure you could have talked to many slaves back in the day when men still held slaves, and many would have said they were happy to be fed once a day and only beaten when they deserved it.

Re: "Saudi veils are bound to slip"

^
very crude assumption man, very very crude....

Re: "Saudi veils are bound to slip"

No more crude than assuming all Saudi women enoy being 2nd class citizens.

Re: “Saudi veils are bound to slip”

What makes you think all Saudi women are second class citizens?

Re: "Saudi veils are bound to slip"

Because they are denied rights enjoyed by all men.

Re: "Saudi veils are bound to slip"

True they have a very strange system over there. But that is not to say that some women are not happy with the way things are.

Re: "Saudi veils are bound to slip"

I am sure many or most are happy. In my (slightly sarcastic) remark about slaves I was inferring that if that is all they know or think possible, then they are happy with what they've got.

Re: "Saudi veils are bound to slip"

ofcourse women who do not know honour and dont value modesty might find 'freedom' the greatest thing in the world too, for similar reasons.

Re: "Saudi veils are bound to slip"

Freedom doesn't mean those values are not acheivable. I know plenty of women in the west who cherish those values. What about men who do not know honor or value modesty? At least they have a choice.

Re: "Saudi veils are bound to slip"

and i know plenty of women in the east who have 'freedom' as you term it. non sequitur. certainly though, immorality, immodesty, adultery, extra marital affairs etc etc are all more acceptable in the west than in the east to the average joe.

and sometimes its good not to have choices.

not that im advocating saudi style restrictions.
