In regards to this case. After being brutally raped 14 times by 6 men, the girl is being send to Prison because she was in the company of another man.
But I wonder
What is the punishment if the two just say salam?
What is the punishment if they just have less than three minutes of conversation, say, asking for directions?
What is the punishment for sitting in a public place for less than 15 minutes, say, like having coffee at the same table?
What is the punishment if it happens to be case helping a friend (not related, say, a student in the same school or a teacher) for shopping groceries, etc.?
If she had sex with that man, the Quran prescribes an explicit punishment. The fact that she was with that man at the time and if she DID have sex with him and WAS caught naked by the rapists (as they say), in not doing what she did, she wouldn't have been raped.
I'm not suggesting that she deserved or was in any part responsible for the rape, but the Quran is very explicit in it's rules.
Would this be better.. if she really did have sex with him, if they suspended the punishment for a number of years?
If anything, she still needs to be punished according to the Quran, regardless of what happened after it.
And just to note, I don't think fornication deserves lashings, I'm just saying what the Quran says.
