Re: Saudi Arabia to provide $100 million flood relief aid to Pakistan
JazakAllah to Saudi Arabia.
The sad part is, we will forget this donation by KSA just like we forgot their previous donations and all we will speak of is how they don't let women drive rolleyes ... Allah he haafiz hai saada!
Thus far, Saudi Arabia is the leading nation in supporting the victims of the flood with a donation of $100 million on top of all the other material help they are providing on a daily basis.
Re: Saudi Arabia to provide $100 million flood relief aid to Pakistan
Sects don't matter, it is the ideology that is the problem.
All this problem of Talibanic kharijism has its base in Saudi inculcation of radical mindset which started in Zia's era. BUT that is not the point I am trying to make here. The point is about Pakistanis go heads over heels when it comes to a potential aid from Saudis, but stay tight-lipped when it is Americans who are actually delivering it to the affected people.
You being a Taliban supporter, I don't expect you to agree with Talibanic kharijism having its roots in Saudi backing. But many other Pakistanis who understand Talibanic mindset to be the enemy of Pakistan will agree with it. It does not matter what sect or religion they belong to.
You should not expect me to read your links. If there is a point to be made then let you be the one to make it.
Allah's curse be upon Taliban supporters and Altaf supporters. Pakistanis are not like you, with a narrow, hateful, sectarian, ethnic bigotry. You should consider yourself a separate entity.

That's not right. America is actually the leading nation.

Violent extremist language oozing out of you. Hard to control your real self. Isn't it?
Saudi extremist ideology is the main culprit of current turmoil in Pakistan. This started in Zia's era. And Saudi was one of the countries that supported Taliban's "cursed" terrorist regime, alongside Saudi-inspired ISI and UAE.
There is no denying this fact.
Re: Saudi Arabia to provide $100 million flood relief aid to Pakistan
@samb
i agree with you, that there is no ummah thing, but, it doesnt hurt to make alliances if there is a benefit and to play ones cards wisely.

There isnt a shred of evidence that Saudis are behind the violence in Pakistan.

Icon, what benefit can we get by forming an alliance with intellectually bankrupt, internationally irrelevant countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE, etc? sure they have money now which their royal families waste on shopping sprees in Europe, etc... but if peak oil theory is correct (and imo it is), then these arabs are going to go back to the stone age as soon as the west doesn't need their oil. then what are they going to sell?
then, we will still be better off because no matter how pathetic the state of education in our country, we still have made some investments in our human capital. even if the state hasn't, the people have done so for themselves to satisfy their own ambitions. we don't need to be forming alliances with arabs. we need to be like Turkey and form alliances with countries that we can actually benefit from.
Re: Saudi Arabia to provide $100 million flood relief aid to Pakistan
samb, even Turkey is making alliance with arabs, and making lot of monmey out of it. Relations are not all or none principle nor permanent, you co-operate where it benefits you. Even the richest nation in the world, like US is tapping into their resources, why should others hold back. At present they have money, we have manpower, expertise, textile, food products that we can sell to them. Pakistan is already earning billions of dollars in trade and foreign exchange from gulf.

They are not directly leading terrorism activities in Pakistan. I said it is their ideology which is the cause of creation of extremist Talibanic mindset in Pakistan.
Remember, Saudi was one of the only 3 countries in the world which recognized Taliban government.

What could be trade with gulf countries besides sending people to work there?

We were one of them, it was Pakistan that brokered deals between Taliban and rest of the world. And the ideology thing, okay which part of their ideology is fueling Taliban?

Virtually everything that Pakistan produces like rice, wheat, textile, cotton, IT, leather products.

JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia launched a nationwide fundraising campaign on Monday for Pakistanās flood victims, on the instructions of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Prince Naif said.
King Abdullah inaugurated the campaign by giving SR20 million while Crown Prince Sultan, deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, donated SR10 million and Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Prince Naif SR5 million to the fund.
āWe have instructed all regional governors to set up subsidiary committees to collect donations and encourage businessmen and other citizens to participate actively in the campaign, which is named after King Abdullah,ā Prince Naif told the Saudi Press Agency.
He said potential donors could deposit their money in account No. SA8710000020162400000107 at National Commercial Bank or transfer their money using NCBās telebanking service or ATMs or Al-Ahli online service.
In response to the kingās call, Tabuk Gov. Prince Fahd bin Sultan identified locations in the region to collect donations. They include the headquarters of the King Abdul Aziz Charitable Society and Prince Fahd bin Sultan Social Program. The governor also set up a committee to organize the fundraising.
Saudi Arabia has already sent 16 planeloads of relief supplies to Pakistan after the country was hit by the worst floods in its history. On Sunday, the 15th and 16th cargo flights arrived in Pakistani airports with Saudi supplies.
Saudi Finance Ministry officials Abdullah Al-Muhaisen, Abdul Aziz Al-Fayad and Abdullah Al-Dossary handed over the relief supplies to Pakistani authorities. The Saudi Embassy in Islamabad is supervising the distribution of Saudi aid among the victims.
The Kingdom has pledged $100 million relief for Pakistan. āWe are coordinating with UN agencies to distribute the humanitarian and emergency relief supplies,ā an official statement said.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who surveyed the devastation caused by the torrential floods on Sunday, said he had never seen anything like it in his life. He urged foreign donors to speed up assistance to the 20 million people affected.
The floods that began more than two weeks ago in Pakistanās mountainous northwest have now affected about a quarter of the country, especially its agricultural heartland. While the death toll of 1,500 is relatively small, the scale of the flooding and number of people whose lives have been disrupted is staggering.
The United Nations has appealed for an initial $460 million to provide relief, but only 20 percent has been given. Once the floods recede, billions more will be needed for reconstruction and getting people back to work.
