Saudi Arabia, America & Iran

Can anybody analyze that why a Muslim Country like Saudi Arabia has friendly relations with a Christian America but estranged relations with a Muslim Iran? Is it because of Economy and/or Oil? Is it because of Shia-Sunni element? Or is it because of old Arabi-Ajamai conflict? PS; No Shia Sunni debate, just analysis please!

Read the history of the Saudi monarch family who were handpicked and and helped by the British against the Ottomon empire........ever since day 1 the family of Saud are the subsidiary of the British and the Americans.......on this topic someone recommended a book here called 'Two Faces of Islam'.......

Re: Saudi Arabia, America & Iran

I think Saudi so-called Royals are Freemason.

Re: Saudi Arabia, America & Iran

it's not a mystery. saudi arabia is the preeminent claimant to the sunni identity and iran is the preeminent claimant to the shia identity.

the sectarian rivalry alone is enough cause for poor relations but sectarianism has also underpinned numerous events and incidents that have further compounded the mutual hatred.

Re: Saudi Arabia, America & Iran

Saudis are sunnis? That’s a news to me.

Re: Saudi Arabia, America & Iran

Because it provides "good life".

Saudis learned their lesson in 1973 embargo.

Re: Saudi Arabia, America & Iran

I don't think relations between Iran and Russia are any friendlier than relations between Saudi and Russia. Nothing special.

If Iran was thinking in sectarian terms than it would not support Hamas in Palestine and Ikhwan in Egypt. On the other hand, if Saudi was not thinking in sectarian terms than it would not have despised a democratic government in Iraq.

If the conflict between Saudi and Iran is due to Iran than why was Saudi against Iraqi government? It shows clearly that Saudis see everything from sectarian glasses. Be it Iran or Iraq.

Saudis would rather accept Israeli occupation of Palestine than to have friendly relations with Iran.

Re: Saudi Arabia, America & Iran

The Saudis barely took part in anti-Ottoman actions. It was the Hashemites of the Hijaz who were Britain's loyal puppets. They were rewarded with Thrones in Iraq, Jordan, and Syria after the war.

The Saudis overthrew the Hashemites in the Hijaz, and were then quickly courted by the British and turned into British allies in the mid 1920s.

Re: Saudi Arabia, America & Iran

A failed rebellion by the Saudis, as opposed to their lack of involvement in the successful rebellion during WW1

There is no proof of any British connection to the early Saudi rebellions.

Re: Saudi Arabia, America & Iran

I stand corrected.....u r right tht there is no evidence of British backing them during initial attacks they made.

Re: Saudi Arabia, America & Iran

Respected Sir, I really enjoyed your sweet sense of humour having a sour tinge of satire. By the way, Saudi Arabia, and not Iran, enjoys the status of spiritual leadership of the Muslim World by virtue of the reasons known to all. Moreover it is the only Muslim country with a pure Islamic system (minus kingship). Besides, Saudi Arabia has a very a strong stance against Jewish Israel in contrast to its relations with Christian America, unlike Iran which is both Anti America & Anti Israel.

Re: Saudi Arabia, America & Iran

yes saudis have no life. lets hate them.

Re: Saudi Arabia, America & Iran

it has nothing to do with most of the reasons you have listed.

1) Saudi has money - USA has technology for security and pleasurable living using that money
2) Iran cannot provide these. Plus they are Shia that challenge the supremacy of KSA

Re: Saudi Arabia, America & Iran

^^ Could not agree more with this. At the end of the day, everybody wants to be associated with the richest and not with somebody going down the tube...:)

Re: Saudi Arabia, America & Iran

This. The Jordanian "royal" family were rewarded with their current position for their support of rebellions against the Ottoman empire. Keep in mind that Islamic civilizations became decadent and were surpassed by the Europeans (for a variety of reasons), but many of the royal families, much like the dictators, are simply people who agreed to abide by British/American policies in exchange for power. And of course the British and Americans are in the Middle East for control of the oil.
