I think the Saudis have stronger ties with the Americans than the British, in that they reached out to the American government for support in freeing themselves from British control.

Can anybody analyze that why a Muslim Country like Saudi Arabia has friendly relations with a Christian America but estranged relations with a Muslim Iran? Is it because of Economy and/or Oil? Is it because of Shia-Sunni element? Or is it because of old Arabi-Ajamai conflict? PS; No Shia Sunni debate, just analysis please!
In simple terms saudi arabia was made by the british in order to split it from the ottoman islamic state.
So its loyalty is with the colonialists from day 1.
Its ruling system is monarchy not directly from islam, meaning it is king who decides what laws to implement so you see introduction of american troops on the land, riba based economy, abuse of people, racism etc etc.
With demise of british empire it embraced the american colonialists who now hold the security of the country in their hands.
the sunni v shia is a tool used by the british and americans to divide and rule the muslim world. It is not big issue for the general muslims on the street, wherever you find cia. blackwater contractors you will find bombs at sunni or shia mosques even in new area like afghanistan they attempting to start sectarian conflict.
