Sasti roti scheme seems to be total failure scheme in Punjab, though intention was to serve poor people but it did not work. Governement lost millions in fraud by this scheme.

Even if there was no fraud happening, it was difficult to support such a scheme. Food subsidies were to be paid by government, and if government does not have big enough tax net then it could not afford to pay for the expenses of this program.
In my view it's as simple as that.
Punjab govt could have helped people a lot better if it had used these billions of rupees in efforts to create new jobs in different sectors. If there is enough employment then there would remain little need of government backed food subsidies.
There are two ways to help a poor person. We can either give him some money once awhile, which would be a noble thing to do obviously. But an even better approach would be to give him employment, and make him stand on his own feet. This way there won't be any need to give money to him (subsidies).

Schemes like 'sasti-roti', 'Benazir income support' are nothing but an eye-wash, different ways of loot maar.

You never waist a chance otherwise BISP is a wonderful scheme for poor. Direct computerized approach to very low income people. No chance of any corruption even no complaint by Jang-Geo mafia.
This is not only sasti roti scheme. 27 task forces one new police department and one election authority. All failed and closed. Many billion of national exchequer waisted or looted by Showbaz gang.

Good feedback Anwar Pasha. It has become fashion for few to criticize any good intention project if it is named as BeNazir. Zulfiqa Ali Bhutto and his daughter are the only examples who served Pakistan without any discrimination. They are really national leaders and deserve all respect.

both schemes were/are waste of time and money yet a way to loot more money... RS 50 Billion is allocated for the BISP for this year only... 5 towns of Pakistan could have been converted into cities by using same amount, which could have given the employment and better means to live to millions in Pakistan...
But ppp jiyalas are happy to see people being turned into beggars...

You are right, anything "showbaz" does is nothing but a waste of national exchequer and anything PPP does is nothing short of wonderful scheme for poor, all hail the kings of PPP.

Yes, nationalization of industry was the greatest achievement of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Passing the chair-person to Mr 10% was the next biggest thing of the century by Benazir Bhutto through her "will". I can't figure out if there could've been anything better done by these great heroes, I am indebted for all my life.

Govt can help by investing in Infrastructure and providing more business friendly atmosphere and not by giving 1000 rs a month... but i guess it would be hard to convince a jiyala who thinks Allah can go wrong but PPP leadership can never do or think any thing wrong

Rs 1000 a month for poor family is good idea if it is implemented with sincerity, without corruption and without discrimination all over country. Only objection is that it should have been named ‘Pakistan Income Support Programme’ instead of ‘BISP’.
As for ‘Sasti Roti Scheme’, that program was started by Z A Bhutto in 70s, but it did not took off nicely. Bhutto program was good as what I remember under that scheme, 5 enriched Roti used to get sold at Rs 1 in packet all over Pakistan, so that poor Pakistanis could benefit from it. Unfortunately, things did not work out as it was suppose to be and programme stopped.
Anyhow, Sasti roti scheme by 'Chota Thug' is only a way to rob Punjab treasury. Scheme was/is neither practical nor universal throughout Pakistan (as BISP or sasti roti scheme what Z A Bhutto started). It took off in few selected city areas of North Punjab and may have benefitted few poor in the area, but the amount involved in the scheme mostly got robbed by PMLN thugs. Because of this scheme, thugs in Punjab government benefitted but Punjab lost.

70s program was not a program of sasti roti. That was a new concept of Paki Pakai Tazah Roti. People of Pakistan are very conscious about 'Roti". They still can not compromise on concept of fresh cooked 'roti' However BISP is a NADRA based project for a very little help to poor families.
National leader Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto served whole Pakistan eqaully. He created Roti Corporation of Pakistan. Latest equipment was imported from Germany to make roti on automatic plants all over Pakistan scientifically and hygenically. I still remember that different kinds of cheap breads and roti produced by these plants were no less quality than Germany and America. JI maulivies with conivance of local nan bhais started campaign against these plants that these roti and breads contain chemical which make person hijrha (impotent) after eating this. Jang and other news papers joined this campaign and failed the most important project which was only meant for poor and middle class people, though rich also took full advantage of this project.

They rumoured that the roti had birth control drugs! Actually that was a tasty roti esp. during Ramdan my mother used to warm them in ghee as a paratha!

what you need is stronger legislation against corruption, theft from top to bottom, its the corruption that causes schemes like these to fail, intention may be good to run sasti roti, like roti kapda and makan, but what i see is the blinding poverty where roughly 7 in 10 people are poor, landl less, isnt there a provision in the sharia for the state to look after the poor, provide jobs, welfare law and order, that what people vote for.
This two party politics both have been in power and both delivered poorly in promises time for the pakistani people to reform parliament, strenghten the judicary, so that no man is above the law
what i noticed is the the human right in the countries like asia are poorly supported and also people there are being victimised the state should support the common man, not politics, or worship politicans
pakistan can be great, a super power all it needs is a overhaul in its laws and its constitution
state workers to get paid lot higher, this may reduce corruption, also introduce taxes to the rich thy have yet to pay their share in helping out the poor

Actually corruption has covered all fields of life.
No one under stands the depth of problem.
This is also a tool of international consipiracy.
Low educational level is also a main reason behind it.
If we can control corruption, It will take just five years to us to reach in the top position in Asia except Japan.
This is the proper and perhaps last time to do it.
