Re: saris
YOu all are just talking about when you wore your first saris, etc. But I am wondering do how all of you learned how to fix a sari on. Also saris only look good with short blouses, and not the ones that cover all the way down to wear it meets with the pettycoat. I personally think that's how a sari could be worn. I have yet to wear mine when I figure out how to put one on and whether I'll be revealing my waist or not.
To be honest, i know the majority of us wear our sarees with the belt and pleats already stitched on it......
I got some sarees from pak where the blouse is kinda long and i got some others (from here) where the bluoses are shorter..and to be honest, teh shorter ones do look better. but u don't have to show ur back or belly or waist.
Re: saris
I wore my first one 2 years ago @ 29.
I had the petticoat made with belt but when I brought it home and tried it on it looked so unoriginal that I sat down and undid the belt.
Then spent a day or two on the internet googling up how to wear a Sari techniques.
Frankly its not so hard just requires a bit of time and neatness.
I prefer shorter blouses and the sari draped over the front to cover the exposed skin rather than wearing a bigger blouse.
Re: saris
Do you guys think the unstitched sari looks much better than if you sew in the belt, pleats etc

Re: saris
I always wanted to wear saris...was saving to wear them after marriage guess what...first eid came and I got a saree tailored (belt and pleats) it was sooo pretty but my hips looked gigantic.... (it was banarsi material) so thinking that was the cause, I decided to let that be and get another saree tailored, this time in chiffon material ...once again same prob.... I think I might go to youtube and learn how to wear a sari...and also try tying it a lil lower than the blouse.... wish me luck ...

may be since it is pre-stitched, the waist is slightly tight or perhaps that petticoat could be fitting from the hips.

Re: saris
I wore a sari for a fashion show in school. I was 20/21. I have learnt how to wear saris by observing my mum who used to tie them pretty often. Ammi ties them so well ke banda khul jay par sari na khullay ![]()
