And the material in which kanchivaram sarees are made with isn't as thick as banaras ones. Other than that i'd have to ask my mom, i'm not really sure.
I always thought the exact opposite was true. My mom's "good" Banarsi sarees are all made from thin, soft, almost tissue-like silk, and drape very well...while the kanchipuram sarees I've seen at the store are made from a really thick silk fabric, and look like they'd be much harder to drape...
